Colorize

Artist Statement In this body of work, I set out to take normal everyday objects and give them a whimsical twist through color and staging, to reinvent them into new scenarios. Although there may not always be material similarities between each photograph they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through subject matter. As a designer I find myself drawn to contrast through the utilization of color and shape and as a photographer those interests remain. Staging is critical to this body of work, as this allows for me to explore composition, color, perceived narratives and lighting. This body of work is inspired by German still life photographer; Linus Lohoff who creates scenes that border between reality and fantasy and BranD design magazine’s staging sensibilities. I hope the viewer can take away a new perspective on the everyday objects that surround us and that reinvention of the conventional is possible.
