Fibonacci sequence is found by adding the previous two numbers of the sequence together. Have you spotted this in nature? The sequence is found by adding the previous two numbers of the sequence together. It looks like this: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34… And on it goes. The Fibonacci Sequence is found throughout nature, too. It is a naturally occurring pattern. Here are some examples of Fibonacci in nature… Tree Branches Although we all usually see trees everywhere in our day to day life, how often have you looked for the patterns in them? In trees, the Fibonacci begins in the growth of the trunk and then spirals outward as the tree gets larger and taller. We also see the golden ratio in their branches as they start off with one trunk which splits into 2, then one of the new branches stems into 2, and this pattern continues. Storms Your eye of the storm is like the 0 or 1 in the Fibonacci sequence, as you go on in the counterclockwise spiral you find it increasing in a consistent pattern. This pattern is much like the Golden Ratio. Seashells When cut open, nautilus shells form a logarithmic spiral, composed of chambered sections called camerae. Each new chamber is equal to the size of the two camerae before it, which creates the logarithmic spiral. This proportional growth occurs because the nautilus grows at a constant rate throughout its life until reaching its full size. Flower Petals The petals of a flower grow in a manner consistent with the Fibonacci. Of the most visible Fibonacci sequence in plants, lilies, which have three petals, and buttercups, with their five petals, are some of the most easily recognized. Galaxies The golden spiral can be found in the shape of the “arms” of galaxies if you look closely. It can’t be told if galaxies follow a perfect spiral, because we can’t measure a galaxy accurately, but on paper, we can measure it and see the size. Flower Heads Most of the time, seeds come from the center of the flower head and migrate out. A perfect example of this is sunflowers with their spiraling patterns. At points, their seed heads get so packed that their number can get extremely high, sometimes as much as 144 and more. When analyzing these spirals, the number is almost always Fibonacci. YOU! You are an example of the beauty of the Fibonacci Sequence. The human body has various representations of the Fibonacci Sequence proportions, from your face to your ear to your hands. You have now been proven to be mathematically gorgeous. We’re all one with Nature that uses this pattern to maintain balance within us and the universe.


Dahlia Have you ever observed a flower closely? Did you know that mathematics holds the key to nature too? How much ever-intriguing it may be, the fact is that flowers are a lot more than just pretty structures. They depict the true art of nature and are created using their secret formula – a magic sequence – that defines the pattern in which their petals are uniquely organized. ​ The dahlia flower is closely associated with sacred geometry. Dahlia in the painting is inspired by the geometry of the Dahlia flower, whose petals spiral from the center with a mesmerizing pattern. This fascinating pattern, based on the Fibonacci sequence or well-known Golden Ratio, led to a collection of large illuminated light flowers. Sacred Geometry is a representation of the pattern of space, time, and life itself. Numerous ancient civilizations and religions based many ideas and theories on the geometric nature of life. Sacred Geometry is a language that nature uses to create and communicate with itself. When you tap into the power of Sacred Geometry, you are tapping into the energy that connects all living things. ​ ​ We all strive to become the most efficient versions of ourselves. It’s the basic law of nature and holds good for flowers and plants too. The Fibonacci pattern has been adopted by flowers and plants to ensure maximum efficiency, optimal utilization of the available space, and maximum availability of sunlight to all parts and structures. The Fibonacci pattern allows the flower to make optimal use of space by ensuring the growth of a maximum number of seeds on the seed head. As the seeds grow, the center of the seed head quickly adds new seeds. it does this by pushing the previous ones, or the mature seeds, towards the periphery, so that the growth of the flower never ceases. The growth never ends. There is no end, only new beginnings. The Fibonacci sequence appears in unexpected places such as in the growth of plants, especially in the number of petals on flowers, in the arrangement of leaves on a plant stem, and in the number of rows of seeds in a sunflower. For example, although there are thousands of kinds of flowers, there are relatively few consistent sets of numbers of petals on flowers. Some flowers have 3 petals; others have 5 petals; still, others have 8 petals; and others have 13, 21, 34, 55, or 89 petals. There are exceptions and variations in these patterns, but they are comparatively few. All of these numbers observed in the flower petals—3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89—appear in the Fibonacci series. A Fibonacci sequence can be found everywhere from plants to stars and whole galaxies. Everything and everyone is connected from our DNA, plants, nature, cosmos, space, and faraway galaxies. This repeating pattern, which is a part of everything, is showing us connectedness.

Spiral of Life Sacred geometry is found throughout the entire Universe and can be seen everywhere in the Natural World. Even our bodies are made up of this mathematical statement, commonly referred to as the Fibonacci sequence, which connects all living things in the Universe. Plant growth is governed by the Fibonacci sequence. You can find this pattern in sunflowers, galaxies, whirlpools, and in our very own DNA. The Fibonacci sequence reveals how things grow, build up and multiply according to what is already there. This growth by accumulation is reflected in the branches of trees, the spiral of flowers, the unfurling of ferns, and all of the known phenomena of this universe, no matter how big or small. The proportions of the human body, the structure of crystals, the spots on a leopard, music, etc. — have a specific geometric structure. The same geometric pattern creates fractals over and over again, which in turn create endless possibilities of light, color, shape, and sound. When you look at the formation of pine cones, sunflowers, pineapples, and cacti, they all have a double spiral structure that will allow the smaller elements, such as seeds, to pack themselves closely and efficiently. If you look at the center of the sunflower you will see the seeds line up in crisscrossing spirals that radiate from the center. You can count the number of spirals turning in each direction, and these will always be Fibonacci numbers. Everything and everyone is connected from our DNA, plants, nature, cosmos, space, and faraway galaxies. A pattern that is repeating and is a part of everything is showing us that connectedness. A Fibonacci sequence can be found everywhere from plants to stars and whole galaxies. This painting is representing a plant with a perfect Fibonacci sequence and shows a good balance of female and male energy. Sharp edges represent male energy and spirals represent female energy, from which every petal starts and is born, surrounding all other sharp leaves, ensuring that each leaf has maximum access to rain and sunlight. ​ Every plant in nature, every nature creation is showing us that balance of energies, which we need to find within us, live by it, and spread to the world to achieve the long-awaited Harmony, for which this world is starving. In each of us are female and male energies, regardless of gender, which we need to balance so the world can be healthy, happy, and prosperous again and reverse the damage. All changes start within us.

Spiral Galaxy Once you start to recognize the golden spiral -- also known as the Fibonacci spiral - you'll see it everywhere. The golden spiral is based on the golden ratio. Symbolized by the character φ (Phi), it's found when a line is split in such a way that the larger part divided by the smaller part is equal to the whole part divided by the larger part - a ratio of (rounded) 1.618. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where the ratio of successive numbers is very close to the golden ratio. The golden spiral always increases by this ratio -- for every quarter turn the spiral makes, it gets wider by a factor of φ. The golden spiral fits neatly into a spiral galaxy. As you can see, mathematics is more than just a set of vague equations and complex rules that you are required to memorize. Mathematics is the language of the universe, and in learning this language, you are opening yourself up to the core mechanisms by which the cosmos operates. This mathematical endeavor is what allows us, a species bound to our solar system, to explore the depths of the universe. As of now, there simply is no way for us to travel to the center of our galaxy and observe the supermassive black hole there to visually confirm its existence. There is no way for us to venture out into a Dark Nebula and watch in real-time a star being born. Yet, through mathematics, we can understand how these things exist and work. When you set about to learn math, you are not only expanding your mind, but you are connecting with the universe on a fundamental level. You can, from your desk, explore the awesome physics at the event horizon of a black hole, or bear witness to the destructive fury behind a supernova. The grand story of the universe is written in mathematics, and our ability to translate those numbers into the events that we all love to learn about is nothing short of amazing. So remember, when you are presented with the opportunity to learn math, accept every bit of it because math connects us to the stars.

Pattern Harmony The golden ratio describes predictable patterns in everything from atoms to huge stars in the sky. The Golden Ratio turns out to be the key to understanding how nature designs and is a part of the same ubiquitous music of the spheres that build harmony into atoms, molecules, crystals, shells, suns, and galaxies and make the Universe sing. The ratio is derived from the Fibonacci sequence. It is a mathematical definition of a proportional function that all nature obeys, whether it be a mollusk shell, flowers, the leaves of plants, the proportions of the animal body, the human skeleton, or the ages of growth in humans. We’re all one with Nature which uses the Golden ratio to maintain balance within us and the universe.

Artist Approach I am Kristina, by profession an engineer, and by soul, a self-taught artist. I am trying through art to send a message that we are one with the Universe and that we should have more respect and take care of our Nature. By doing so, we are taking care of ourselves and our future generations. We should all find balance with the sound of the Universe. Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads. My natural curiosity led me to study at University, to gain insight to decipher the mysteries of life and nature. I enjoy traveling around the world to find my place under the Great Blue Sky, the World itself being one Huge piece of Art and the Sky as a canvas of unfathomable wisdom. The search for an understanding of life leads me ever deeper into questioning all that's around us. I express my findings, feelings, and questions by sharing them in the form of art. The Art of unique perspective and delicate insight, high imagination and bold colors, and a splash of paint as an expression of life's vitality and eccentricity. Life is Art and Art is life, to see art is like seeing yourself, to have art, or a piece of it is like having a part of Paradise in this hellish world. My motto is Art for Life. ​ Using mostly acrylic and mixed media for my works, combined with clay to achieve a connection between figures and acrylic colors on canvas for a 3D effect.
