COMPANY FOUNDERS

BOB SIMMERS president Born and raised on a farm near Jamestown, Bob Simmers grew up under the wing of an airplane. He soloed in October of 1963 but never really got involved in aviation outside of the farm until 1982. Bob earned his Private Pilot certificate and took 13 check-rides in 1984 while working as a rookie Ag pilot at Jamestown Aviation. In 1988, Bob took a job in Bismarck as a Charter Pilot and soon the Chief Pilot for the same charter company. Late in 1889, he was approached by a group of Doctors that were stretching out on their own and wanted him supply them with Pilot Services to their satellite clinics, and Aircraft Management Services was born. In the fall of 1990, Bob and a partner started Simson Investment Co. and built the company’s first hangar that winter, opening the door to a 10,000 square foot hangar facility in March of 1991. In 2002, Bob and Mike Aarestad partnered up to expand services, adding maintenance and repair to the list of services and adding another 6,000 square feet of hangar space. As the company grew, an Avionics department and full service FBO was added. Bob was elected President of the North Dakota Aviation Council (NDAC) in 1991 and had the pleasure of being the host for Mr. Paul Harvey as he spoke to the NDAC Symposium. MIKE AARESTAD vice president Mike Aarestad started his career in 1971, by completing A&P School and flight training, at Kundert Aviation in Fargo, ND. He worked fueling aircraft during his time at training, and got his first job at Jamestown Aviation. In 1978, he was asked to become the Director of Maintenance for a High Performance Single Engine Cessna dealership (HPSE) and subsequently a twin engine dealer. Since those earlier training years, he has been the Director of Maintenance capacity for General Aviation and Corporate aircraft in Bismarck/Mandan for over 35 years. Mike attended numerous factory training schools to help him fulfill this capacity to include Cessna Citation, Beechcraft , Piper, Bell helicopter, all piston Cessna’s, Cessna Caravan, Pratt & Whitney turbine, and Garrett turbine classes. ismarck Aero Center’s strict hangar policies give our customers the highest sense of security when leaving their aircraft in our trusted care. We are proud of our zero hanger rash incidents since the construction of this hangar. Some of our precautions include the following policies: •

BUFFER ZONES: The Business Aircraft Storage Facility is designed for high end heated storage. As a result, we will no longer be stacking a tight hangar. Overlapping wings will no longer be tolerated. A minimum of 3 feet of clearance will be required in between all aircraft surfaces and other objects. This includes hangar structures and adjacent aircraft.

• EMISSIONS/SPRINKLERSYSTEM: The Business Aircraft Storage Facility is equipped with a fire suppression sprinkler system. • DEICING PREVENTION: Company employees work with the pilots to manage the hangar door and hangar temperatures to prevent the aircraft from icing up as it is pulled from the hangar. • WING WALKERS: A required minimum of two wing walkers will be present while an aircraft is being stored in the Business Aircraft Storage Facility. • TUG OPERATORS: Only authorized Bismarck Aero Center employees that are specifically trained for certain models are allowed to pull the aircraft into storage.
