With locations in Manhattan, Wantagh, and Westhampton, Bideawee has been the leading animal welfare organization serving the metropolitan New York area for over 100 years. Bideawee is a no-kill shelter with many unique services aimed at providing a happy, healthy home for all their pets. Bideawee also cares for pets with severe medical conditions through their Sponsor-A-Pet program. Five of these animals are featured in this booklet.

CHESS

A

Bideawee saved Chessa from a high-kill animal shelter just in the nick of time. Once she gets to know you, Chessa is sweet and loveable. This adorable little girl has a significant heart murmer, behavioral issues, and several masses on her body. With the help of sponsors, Bideawee can take care of her for as long as she needs.

y e l Ade Adeley came to Bideawee in 2008 from a city shelter that couldn’t take care of him because of his dangerous allergies. He also suffers from overstimulation when he is petted for too long. Adeley is 11 years old and loves playing with his favorite cat toys.

PEAR Pear is a paraplegic cat that arrived at Bideawee as a kitten and has lived there ever since. He needs his diaper changed multiple times a day as he has no bowel or bladder control. Despite his disability, Pear still gets around even faster than some of his four-legged friends at the shelter!

X Y N O Onyx is an 11-year-old Mastiff mix. He was saved from a high-kill shelter, and when he got to Bideawee a cancerous tumor was found. Onyx is now cancer free, but still requires special treatment due to his fainting spells and seizures. Bideawee describes Onyx as a “big, mushy guy!

Missy Missy is a Turkish Angora mix that came to Bideawee from a municipal shelter. Missy has extreme multiple personality problems, and it takes a while to gain her trust. Bideawee thinks this behavior may be due to abuse in her past. With the help of sponsors Bideawee can continue to take care of her and gain her trust.
