InsideBig Ben Everyone calls this famous clock tower ’Big Ben’, but its real name is the Elizabeth Tower. Big Ben is the name of the largest bell inside it. The bell rang for the first time on 11th July 1859. Today millions of people around the world hear it on BBC radio. Most people who visit London see Big Ben from the outside. Why don’t you climb the tower and see the inside too? Tour times December–May, Mon–Fri: 9:15, 11:15, 14:15 May–September, Mon–Fri: 9,11,14 and 16 Tours are only for people who live in the UK. Tours are free, but please reserve your place early.
