Greetings!
Hello friends and welcome to the 43rd Annual Krebs Ranch Bull Sale.
Life is a test. Life has many ways of testing a person’s will...either by having nothing happen at all, or having everything happen at once. This year, the test seemed to come at once when artic storm Elliot hit us with more snow, wind and cold than we’ve had in quiet some time. They say it takes a big storm to break a drought, and I think this one definitely qualified as a “big storm”. Hopefully, those of you affected by the storm had minimal damage and are in better shape now. We join you in looking forward to the promise of an improved summer with more moisture, good grass and abundant feed.
Congratulations on such a profitable year marketing your cattle. The dry grass made for great gains and heavy calves. That extra weight, plus high prices, made it possible to sell at new highs. You deserve it! Never lose sight of the work you’ve put in to creating the premium beef that feeds this hungry world. The thicker-butted, faster-growing, higher-quality kind of cattle you raise are more popular than ever before. Best of all…it appears this strong market isn’t over yet. We think the best is yet to come!
The bulls in this book set a new record for weaning weight at Krebs Ranch. Never in our 43-year history have we weaned so many pounds! Brand new sire groups like Car Don Annuity, Connealy Hayday, Kraye Big Country, EZAR Step Up, KR Rally 9064 and others bring you fresh bloodlines and outcross genetics with the heaviest weaning weights and best carcass performance ever offered. Plus, we’re deeper than ever with sons of our most proven and popular sire groups like KR Quality, KR Storm and KR Mojo…many produced in our elite embryo program.
I’m sorry we don’t have many bull pictures in this year’s book. We’re very proud of the quality, eye appeal and phenotype bred into these bulls and miss having those pictures available for you…but, the weather simply didn’t allow it. However, we do have videos of every bull and if you can’t attend in person, the sale is available on the web with both DV Auction and Superior Livestock.
Lastly, there are widespread reports of herd bulls that were damaged by the brutal temperatures. Unfortunately, a lot of bulls have already been sent to town because of frozen testicles. Bulls that have swollen bags, or frostbite scabs should be semen tested as soon as possible to check for damage. Keep in mind that we semen test every bull BEFORE our sale so you can be 100% certain the bulls you’re bidding on are completely sound, fertile and ready to go. We appreciate your business…but believe me, we never want your business because of damage from a storm like this. The fact remains you need to make an honest evaluation of your bull battery right now…so you don’t get caught short of bulls at turnout time.
As I began by saying, life is a test. Everyone gets tested…and when the test comes, we get to choose between becoming a victim or a victor. Ranchers aren’t victims. Ranchers accept the challenges. Ranchers move forward. Ranchers overcome. Remember this…when you climb a mountain, your legs get stronger.
We’re here everyday and welcome you calls or visits…look forward to catching up with you soon. Take care, Eldon and Family
