Starter Goes Click A weak battery is a common issue if the starter goes click but won’t ignite. Other reasons such as terminals and worn starter motor or stuck solenoid can also cause the problem. Try to turn on your dome light and see if it goes weak.

Bad Alternator If your battery drains quickly, you may consider replacing the alternator which may cost you a few dollars. But don’t lose hope. Most of the time, it is not the alternator but rather you just need to tighten up the terminals.

Flooded Engine If you are a car guy and you have an older car with a carbureted engine, then the flooded engine might be the cause. All you need to do is to hold the gas pedal way down to the crank the engine. This will clear out the combustion chamber and the ignition will work.

Dead Battery Faulty starter motor or ignition cables might not be working properly. This may take for a while and you need to bring your car to the repair shop once and for all. Yet, it might be just a problem with the key fob or maybe just a bad transponder or dead battery. If the battery is over than 2 years, then better to change it.

Timing Belt or Flywheel The starter might not be engaging to the flywheel which causes the problem. If this is so, this means that you have a broken flywheel. If there is a spinning noise, then this might be your timing belt is already broken. Keep in mind that this part of the engine will wear out on a period of time. The connection between the upper and the lower half might be broken.
