As was noted in this space last month, KQED Public Media has added five new people to its Community Advisory Panel (CAP). CAP members advise the KQED Board of Directors on the educational and cultural needs of the diverse communities served by KQED, KQEI, KTEH, and KQET. The CAP members also represent the organization in the community, assisting with outreach and communityrelations activities. A complete list of panel members is available at kqed.org/board. This month we asked J. Douglas Hollie our get-to-know-you questions. Why did you want to be part of CAP? To help inform the inner city communities of the positive things that KQED has to offer.

What special qualities/skills/ideas do you bring to the group? Diversity of thought and broad experience working with at-risk youth. What public media program(s) do you try not to miss? Tavis Smiley, History Detectives, Check Please!, Bay Area, Independent Lens, This Old House, and concerts. Who is your favorite Muppet? Cookie Monster. Finish the sentence: “KQED is . . .” a valuable resource for San Francisco Bay Area communities.
