It Is Well With My Soul invites the community to Part 2 of a program for digital storytelling of family traditions. The event is Monday, March 25, at the downtown Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza. The program will be held in the computer classroom. Participants may attend from 6-7 p.m. or from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Participants are asked to bring pictures, music (royalty-free or permission granted for use) and text to be compiled into a digital storytelling project. Samples will be provided for those who do not have these items. The program will provide lecture, demonstration, and an opportunity to practice creating digital stories. Participants are asked to bring a blank CD or flash drive to store their projects. The facilitators are Ruby Cain and John Aden. Cain is the volunteer director of It Is Well With My Soul, and an assistant professor at Ball State University. Aden is the executive director of the African/African American Historical Museum and a historical scholar in African and Chinese history. The session costs $10, and registration is

The School of Creative Arts at the University of Saint Francis will open its 37th annual SOCA Student Exhibition with a reception, concert and awards ceremony on Saturday, April 13, from 6-9 p.m. in Weatherhead Gallery in the Rolland Center for Art and Visual Communication. Awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the North Campus auditorium. The exhibition will be free and open to the public through Tuesday, April 30. Students in all SOCA programs, including music technology, film and graduate studies, will showcase 500 samples of their work in Weatherhead, Goldfish, Artist Spotlight and Lupke galleries. The Goldfish and Artist Spotlight galleries are in the Rolland Center, and the Lupke Gallery in the North Campus building. Rolland Center gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 1- 5 p.m. Lupke Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The City of Fort Wayne’s Metro Human Relations Commission has elected new leaders of its seven-member governing board. Larry Wardlaw will serve as chairman and Quinton Ellis will serve as vice chairman. Wardlaw is a 28-year veteran of the Asher Agency Inc., where he serves as senior vice president. He is a lifelong Fort Wayne resident and is active in a number of community organizations, including the YWCA, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, The Civic Theatre and Junior Achievement. He has taught public relations at IPFW, his alma mater, and has served on the Metro Human Relations Commission for 10 years. Ellis is an attorney who specializes in civil rights, personal injury and criminal defense law. He has been on the Metro Human Relations Commission for two years and previously worked as the staff attorney for the commission. Human Relations Commission elects

Dance Collective, MLK Montessori School and the Allen County Bar Association. The Human Relations Commission was established in 1952 as a mayoral commission to study and address discrimination issues within the city. Over the years the city’s local ordinance expanded the commission’s role to include enforcement of antidiscrimination laws, and to educate and empower the citizens of Fort Wayne.

The IPFW Office of Alumni Relations is joining six other northeast Indiana alumni associations in the 13th annual Easter Basket Collection which continues through Monday, March 25. The Northeast Indiana Alumni Directors Consortium hopes to collect 1,500 baskets to donate to Stop Child Abuse and Neglect, which will then distribute them to clients. The baskets themselves must be wrapped and filled with store-bought, commercially wrapped items and can be dropped off at any of the seven area colleges and universities. At IPFW, baskets can be dropped off at the Kettler Hall Information Desk, the Walb Student Union Information Desk, or at the Alumni Center. Besides IPFW, the other members of NIADC are the University of Saint Francis, Huntington University, Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, Manchester College, Trine University, and Indiana Tech.
