Welcome to KFGUniversity !

The Training team previously called People & Performance team began its initiative in the area of Learning and Development in the year 2011 where it achieved reasonable success in igniting inquisitiveness in employee’s minds with respect to ones personal and professional development. Owing to the changing business scenario, it has become imperative that the organization be sensitive to the changing competencies of various roles and therefore plan initiatives to cater to the organization’s current and future needs. Such identified needs through appraisals, exit interview analysis, and competency assessment reports have shaped our Learning & Development plan for 2014 to make it more complete and enriching. The KFG University presents its annual plan for 2014 for learner in 5 different categories, namely: • Strategic Tool Kits (Open for all) • Building Foundation Skills (For Individual Contributors) • Action Oriented Leadership (For Officer, Sr Officers, Restaurant Managers) • Cross Functional Leadership (For Sr Officers, Asst Managers, Area Coaches) • Change Managers (For Managers & Above) Each of these categories have various programmes to offer to the learner based on a certain model of learning. As the planner unfolds itself, it presents to the learner a brief description of each programme in terms of the context, its relevance to the appropriate learner, the methodology used to deliver the programme and the duration. Some of the programmes offered are stand-alone programmes while some others, especially in the area of Leadership Development, are modular programmes. As a user of this planner, please feel free to examine the design, contents and express your points to view and explore new alternatives. You may revert to shouvikb@koutfood.com for any suggestions. We urge all colleagues to make the most of this resource and take the first step towards SELF DEVELOPMENT... OBJECTIVE Equipping for Current Role

Developing Future Competencies

APPROACH The process of development can be seen as a 5-stage process. It involves Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Each step has an outcome that feeds into the next step in the sequence. Now let’s take a look at each and every step in details Analysis Development

Implementation

Design

Evaluation

ANALYSIS During analysis, the KFG University Team identifies the individual needs, the organizational needs, existing knowledge, and any other relevant characteristics. This stage can be summed up in the Training & Development Need Identification Process (TNI) as given below: TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT NEEDS IDENTIFICATION PROCESS Training & Development Need Identification provides the basis on which all training and developmental activities are conducted. This process is undertaken with a lot of care and sensitivity as return on investment in training is fully realized if TNI is done properly. The various inputs used during TNI exercise are • Organizational strategy leading to certain broad developmental goals • Emerging business trends/ challenges requiring newer competencies to be acquired in a particular function • Individual training needs captured from Performance Appraisal Forms for the year 2011-12 • Development Plans identified by the managers along with each employees through the potential assessments DESIGN A systematic process of specifying learning objectives is done during this stage. Detailed categorization of programmes, individual programmes and its content is determined; the learning objectives are finalized from the content and the appropriate faculty for each programme is identified both from internal and external resources to meet the developmental need. 4

DEVELOPMENT The programme content and coverage is finalized with the faculty and the programme methodology (stand alone or modular programme) is arrived at to enhance the learner’s learning experience. IMPLEMENTATION During implementation, the programme is put into action through the agreed upon methodology. Materials are delivered or distributed to the learner group and an Action Plan, if applicable, is drawn by the learner in agreement with the trainer. Also during this stage, a feedback for the programme, the trainer and the venue is obtained from the learners, usually at the end of the programme. EVALUATION The evaluation stage has two parts to it, one is the analysis of the programme and the other is the impact to the learner in implementing the learning from the programme. PROGRAMME ANALYSIS The feedback that has been obtained during the Implementation stage is analyzed in depth, both in a qualitative format as well as in a quantitative format. The findings are then shared with the trainer and feedback to improve the programme is also suggested. IMPACT TO THE LEARNER The second part of evaluation is the impact the programme has created to the work of the learner, and has it shown an improvement or not. For some of the functional programmes, a pre and post test methodology is implemented before and after the programme to analyze impact. For other behavioural and leadership programmes, detailed action plans are drawn by the learner, planned review and/ or one on one coaching sessions are scheduled to help the learner assess ones progress on implementation of action plans. The manager is expected to be a part of all post programme reviews to help the learner define appropriate action plans and help in implementation of the same. PROCESS OF NOMINATION:

Driving the Data Highway

– Information Seeking & Analytical Thinking BFS-3

Training in statistics is one of the best ways to sharpen your analytical skills. What is analytical skill? Wikipedia defines it as the ability to visualize, articulate, solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions that make sense based on available information. Such skills include demonstration of the ability to apply logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information, designing and testing solutions to problems, and formulating plans. Statistics includes methodology, procedure, and techniques used to formulate and simplify complex problems; design experiments; and collect, process, and analyze data to make inferences and research decisions in the face of uncertainty. There are many correlations between training in statistics and developing analytical skills.

Enhancing Competence

Information Gathering, Analytical thinking, Business Acumen, Decision Making

Who will benefit?

Individual Contributors, Officers, Sr Officers, Area Coaches, Assistant Managers

How will they benefit?

Analytical thinking is reflected in a four-step process: hypothesis formulation, data collection, analysis, and inference. • Hypothesis formulation teaches you how to simplify complex problems, define the most relevant problems clearly, and formulate hypotheses. • Data collection teaches you how to plan what you need, look where you need to dig, and filter information required for proving or disproving hypotheses. • Analysis teaches you the deliberate process of breaking a problem down into its parts. By understanding its components and how they fit together, you understand the whole better. •

Finally, inference guides you through the process of deriving a logical conclusion from the outcome of hypothesis testing. It requires you to assess multiple perspectives and develop an effective solution. Facilitation

The Winning Streak – Boost your confidence BFS-4

The way we feel about ourselves greatly influences how we live. For instance, if you’re self-confident, you probably spend time with and connect with others. If you’re drowning in self-doubt, you might withdraw and isolate yourself. One powerful way to build confidence is by practicing selfcompassion. “Self-compassion means we have our own best interests at heart,” Welford said. “We learn to support ourselves in the same way that we would support a friend or relative.” But this might sound utterly impossible to you, especially if you’re more used to beating yourself up. Many of us treat ourselves like the enemy. We regularly judge, criticize and condemn ourselves. Fortunately, self-compassion can be learned. Here’s how.

Every time you want to make any important decision, there are two possible courses of action. You can look at the array of choices that present themselves, pick the best available option and try to make it fit. Or, you can do what the true entrepreneur does: Figure out the best conceivable option and then make it available. Opportunity Engineering & Scenerio Planning CM-5

An agile organization has to have the ability to switch gears quickly — from rapid product development to process development; from low cost to differentiation and vice versa — to do it fast and with minimal resources. Competing as an agile organization clearly requires a different way of thinking. It requires “Strategic Thinking”. There are many elements associated with strategic thinking, such as the perception of a desired outcome, an overall plan, and being prepared for new challenges. The desire to achieve multiple outcomes, as opposed to one objective at a time. The ability to think about the opponents’ possible actions.
