Korovian Club Committee 2021.

Connection is a central goal of the Korovian Club - a place for Korowa’s alumni to connect, support each other and to continue lifelong friendships. After a year of distancing, reunions have carried a certain added significance.

The Korovian Club Committee has been excited to engage with a range of Korovians through an online survey conducted as a part of the Club’s strategic review.

We are grateful to Korovians for their strong response to the survey, from which we gained valuable feedback to inform our programs. A detailed report will be sent to Korovians in the coming weeks, and will also be available on the Korowa website.

Reinforcing the importance of strengthening connections through our alumni activities, a majority of Korovians expressed their desire for more connection within their community. In addition to the enduring popularity of reunions, Korovians were also interested in the Club fostering informal social connections, professional networks and a range of activities such as speaker events and art gallery tours. Many Korovians indicated that they would like to support the community by engaging with current students about their future careers and by mentoring Korowa students or other Korovians.

Moving ahead with these plans, the Korovian Club is pleased to be hosting speaker events called Korowa Connections in forthcoming months open to Korovians and the broader School community, with the first to explore ‘What men can learn from women’s sport’. These events will be held at Korowa’s new River Campus. More details will be provided via email and social media.

Korovians vs current students netball game.

A spirited group of Korovians recently came together to play Korowa students in a thrilling Netball game, which was won by the Korowa team and enjoyed by a large student audience.

At the netball game, fundraising from a sausage sizzle went to SAFE, a not-for-profit animal welfare charity established by Sue Hedley OAM (Class of 1972) dedicated to rehoming animals in need.

The Club has continued to support the School in a number of exciting ways, including a contribution towards Korowa’s Artist in Residence, renowned artist Lisa Roet, who is currently undertaking her residency within the Visual Arts Department. We have also commissioned a portrait of Korowa’s first Principal, Mrs Henrietta Akehurst, to add to the School’s portrait collection of past Principals.

We are looking forward to welcoming Korovians to the Annual General Meeting on Monday 22 November at 7.00pm, and the Korovian Club Christmas Drinks on Friday 26 November at 6.30pm. This event will give us the opportunity to connect with friends and celebrate within our community. Please hold the date and organise your friends or family for this welcome celebration within this year’s calendar. More details will follow via email and social media.
