Due to the pandemic last year when all the scheduled reunions had to be postponed, the reunion program has effectively been doubled for 2021. How wonderful it has been to be able to welcome Korovians back to their School!
As a result of the events of 2020, it has been a very busy time for alumni engagement. In the space of four weeks, from Saturday 24 April to Saturday 22 May the School welcomed back nearly 750 Korovians – no doubt a record, in a series of year level reunions ranging from the Class of 1980 to the Class of 2016.
These attendance figures are indicative of how much we have all missed the opportunity to interact and to a certain degree of nostalgia for the carefree days of youth. It was so heartening to see Korovians reconnecting with one another and for the many who did the School tour, the excitement of seeing the familiar and the sense of amazement in how much the School had changed. I ask all Korovians to record their favourite memories of Korowa and it is always interesting to see what is recorded which ranges from Miss Barnfather, the Central Australia trip, Trek to the end of term! However, through the decades the reunions span, by far the most favoured memory is friendship, which is so very heartening and goes to the essence of why we have reunions. A particular thank you to those Korovians who boldly travelled from Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory to attend their reunions. In these days of lockdowns and border closures, their courage is to be commended!
The photographs on this page and the ensuing pages are testament to the fun and laughter that we have experienced in Term 2. These include some group shots and more informal small groups, all of which capture the connectedness of Korovians.
