It is time to leave behind the winter blues and begin the new year with fantastic entertainment, from comedy to music, cabaret to club nights, we have a range of brilliant events lined up this year. The Komedia idea is rooted in a love of live performance and a belief in its power to add to the sum of human happiness. We welcome everyone who loves live performances, in all their great diversity. At our core is a passion for exciting, bold and independent comedy and music but our programme spans a range of live entertainment including childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s theatre, cabaret, live literature and film. We believe in performing art that is accessible without being obvious, cutting edge without being elitist and above all always fresh and exciting. We are an established and permanent fixture for anyone interested in live entertainment in Brighton and Bath and a vital part of the cultural life of those cities.

Here are just a few events that our team are looking forward to:

Sarah Harris Venue Manager: Komedia is a fantastically vibrant and creative place to work, we are proud to host a large variety of different events in our lovely listed building. I have been a life long fan of Tony Law and I am so excited to see his unique form of wonderfully chaotic stand-up on our stage.

John Davies Music Programmer: I am really excited about New Madrid, who were one of my first bookings and whilst you may not have heard of them yet, they are going to be huge. They are a great new American band, fans of Fleet Foxes and First Aid Kit will love this amazing four piece.

Erica Pease Sales and Marketing Manager: One of my favourite things about working at Komedia is the breadth of shows that we are able to put on. Yorkston Thorne Khan is going to be a beautiful fusion of Scottish folk jazz and classical Indian music and it is great to be able to programme events like this alongside our stand-up comedy, music gigs and club nights.

Yorkston/Thorne/Khan are an experimental group that includes James Yorkston, one of the most “influential singer/songwriters on the Scottish folk scene”, Suhail Yusuf Khan, award winning sarangi player and classical singer from New Delhi and Jon Thorne, best known as jazz double bass player with electro outfit Lamb. This is Scottish-Irish-Indian-English music in the raw, Yorkston’s familiar steel guitar strings pulled, pushed and bent into more unfamiliar acoustic drones, the bass dropping anchors through the floor. To tie in with the release of a brand new album next year The Puppini Sisters announce The Highlife Tour which will visit venues across the UK. In the eight years since their inception, The Puppini Sisters (Marcella Puppini, Kate Mullins and Emma Smith) have received accolades from fans as disparate as Prince Charles and Cyndi Lauper, have been awarded Gold and MultiPlatinum discs, have performed on iconic stages all over the world and have collaborated with “banging” Electro-Swing groups as well as traditional orchestras. Their new album, which was funded completely by a Pledge campaign will combine their own arrangements of classics from the Thirties to the Fifties, jazzy reinventions of pop hits, and self-penned original songs and is sure to thrill fans old and new. Some of the songs to be featured on the album were premiered live to sell-out audiences in summer 2015 at two London Wonderground gigs to ecstatic response.

Bath Film Festival presents ‘The Grand Final of the Film-score’ competition. People aged 14 - 19 from all over the South West have signed up to write a score for a short film. Eddi Reader became known as the face and voice of Fairground Attraction, whose single Perfect and album First of a Million Kisses topped the British charts. However, it was her subsequent albums which signalled her unique ability to assimilate different musical styles and make them all very much her own. Her impeccable taste and talent means that anything with her name on it is guaranteed musical treasure. What sets Eddi Reader apart is the depth and quality of her emotional performance. Her rare blend of meltingly true vocals and towering romanticism make her a unique and powerful figure in contemporary British music.

About Krater Comedy Club Catch the superstars of tomorrow before they start selling out arenas. The night features the best in UK live stand up comedy from three top comics and a compere every week. In the past we have welcomed many now household names including Jimmy Carr, Ross Noble, Sarah Millican, Alan Carr, John Bishop, John Richardson to name just a few!

Seating Seating in the main auditorium is shared, cabaret style seating. All seating is unreserved although we will make every effort to ensure that large parties are able to sit together as long as you arrive before 7:30pm. Seating is also available on our balcony. Balcony seats are rowed cinema-style seats. These are also unreserved. At the end of the show all the tables and chairs will be moved to make way for Motorcity (see page 3).

Our head chef and his team serve delicious, freshly prepared and locally-sourced food at our shows all year round.
