March Madness, Warlock-Style

March Madness, Warlock Style Guess it was inevitable it would come to this at some point… …Charlie Sheen. Not the firing and trash talking and catch phrases and shenanigans and whatnot— we’ve heard enough of that already. The bracket. Yep. Sheen evidently filled out a bracket for the NCAA Tournament. And it’s so par for the course it broke the camel’s back—can’t let it slip by. According to ESPN, the warlock filled out a bracket and sent it to the Dan Patrick Show. And it’s stunning. Sheen’s Final Four teams are BYU, Cincy, Akron and Long Island. BYU was a 3 seed (cool) and Cincy was a 6 seed (fine, whatever). But Akron and Long Island were both 15 seeds (here we go). Needless to say, exactly none of the teams he picked is left in the tournament. BYU lost in the Sweet 16, and Cincy was out the round before. Of course Akron and Long Island didn’t make it out of the first round, getting handled by 2 seeds UNC and Notre Dame. But that’s not all…Merlin picked the two 15 seeds for the championship game. It didn’t matter that 15 seeds have only won four times in the NCAA Tournament since 1985, according to ESPN. Not four championships. Four games. There are 63 games in each tournament. That’s 1,575 games in 25 years. Number 15 seeds have won four of them. But that didn’t matter. And he wasn’t done…he picked Akron and Long Island to tie. To tie! (They don’t do ties in basketball.) And still not done…he also picked Akron as the winner. (WTF?) To recap, Akron (a 15 seed) beats Long Island (another 15 seed) for the NCAA Championship…in a tie. Wow.

(Say whatever you’re thinking to yourself right here.) So, obviously, Sheen isn’t “duh, winning” any office pools this year (for a couple of reasons). Maybe what’s really surprising is that he didn’t pick the Memphis Tigers (a 12 seed) to win. Tigers are his peeps and all…same blood. Who knows. But the reason we know all this? (And everything else we know and don’t want to know about Charlie Sheen?) Communications technology. He sent his bracket to Dan Patrick, and now it’s on the Internet. The NY Daily News reported that Sheen broke the Guinness World Record for fastest person to a million followers on Twitter. It only took 25 hours. That’s why we know. Because communications technology today is crazy. (Again, say whatever you want here.) Anyway, here’s the tiger’s bracket… http://media.danpatrick.com/celebrity-bracket-challenge-charlie-sheen/
