The project „Children and the Bird and the Squirrel” emerged one winter while we were still in 1st grade. By that time we saw a squirrel, a hedgehog, an owl and a bat in our
school yard. The first spring flowers just started growing in the yard. The goal of the
project was to let everyone know that there was space in the school yard for us, plants and for animals. We did not work alone, we had help from both grownups and children:

the school florists, gardeners, volunteers, the O.A.Z.A. association, scouts, employees from the ZOO, Maksimir park.

The project is still going on, and we have a bug hotel, a house for our hedgehog, a garden for butterflies and a flowerbed…
