Knittinghood Magazine

Vilnius, Lithuania

Lithuanian women are very creative and knitting traditions goes deep into generations. For a really long time, they had to find the sources of inspiration in foreign languages, because of the lack of native – speaking aesthetic, high quality and modest knitting magazine. Our goal is that every knitter in Lithuania would have an opportunity to explore all the knitting news and enjoy reading knitting patterns in Lithuanian – that’s the reason we decided to create a knitting magazine by ourselves. Knittinghood – it’s a word, that came up spontaneously. For us, it describes the spirit of knitting – just like sisterhood, motherhood. The community of fibre people in social media is always the place, where you are welcomed with joy an accepted the way you are. All of us are united with the same love for yarn, needles and hooks! That’s the reason, why our goal is not just introduce foreign designers, but also invite talented Lithuanian knitters to share their designs. Our community sincerely welcomes all kind of people – it’s a safe place for LGBTQ+, neurodivergent and differently able people. In Knittinghood magazine will take a place not only knitting patterns (at least 10 in each issue), but also interviews with local fibre people, reviews of the knitting events. Traveling thru the local sheep and alpaca farms, exploring and introducing worldwide yarn stores. Each issue will contain a presentation of the works by young artists.
