University of Maine posts Spring 2023 Dean's List
The University of Maine recognized 3,016 students for achieving Dean’s List honors in the spring 2023 semester. Of the students who made the Dean’s List, 2,002 are from Maine, 932 are from 44 other states and 82 are from 33 countries other than the U.S.
To be eligible for the Full-time Dean’s List, a student must have completed 12 or more calculable credits in the semester and have earned a 3.50 or higher semester GPA. Students who have parttime status during both the fall and spring semesters of a given academic year are eligible for Part-time Dean’s List. They must have completed 12 or more calculable credits over both terms and have earned a combined GPA in those terms of 3.50 or higher.

UMaine offers 77 bachelor's degrees and six undergraduate certificates, as well as more than 100 degree programs through which students can earn doctoral or master's degrees, professional master's degrees, and graduate certificates. UMaine Machias offers 18 associate and bachelor's degrees, and 14 undergraduate certificates. The university promotes environmental stewardship, with substantial efforts campuswide to conserve energy, recycle and adhere to green building standards in new construction.

The BVAA has had a very successful year, following the pandemic. Members are once again active, participating in demos and actively submitting to our shows. Art Shows and meetings are held at Open Skies Community Gallery, 5 Main St. in Uxbridge. The Association is thankful to Open Skies for the opportunity to share their work and providing a space to enhance skills with demos by professional artists.
This year's demos included: How to properly frame art work and color theory by Sue Dion. Also a mini workshop on reverse painting on glass with Pam Schwartz. A group critique was monitored by Carol Arnold. Photo montages were provided by 3 of BVAAs award winning photographers.

Upton Bloomers host Psychic at Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club
On Saturday, August 12th at 6:30 p.m. Gary McKinstry, well-known Medium, Psychic, and Radio Personality will be making a big return to Upton at the nipmuc Rod and Gun Club, 88 Fiske Mill Rd. The evening will feature McKinstry's talents in channeling spiritual contact with passed loved ones.
This event is generously sponsored by the Upton Bloomer Girls, a 501(c)4 women's charity organization that offers resources, helping hands, or other assistance to current Upton residents who are in need of additional support. There will be opportunities to win great raffle prizes and to be singled out by Gary for a personal experience. Winners of BVAA member Spring Show were, Young Farwell 1st place, Alexandra Spano 2nd place and Pam Gover 3rd place, Lisa Shea, Bob Evans and Beverly Tinklenberg received honorable mentions for their art work. new membership enroll begins in September but new members have already begun to enroll, They will be able to participate in our Summer activities and shows as well as all next season. Their last show was a series of 3 works of a similar fashion submitted by members. Winners were: Al Weems 1st place, Gage nichols (our teen member} 2nd place, Frank Robertson 3rd place. Honorable mentions were given to Carol Frieswick, Steven Paulson and Betty Havens.
Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of the month and Lisa Shea monitors the gallery every Saturday from 10 a.m.3:00 p.m. For the Summer, these will be free paint and chat times. Thanks to the northbridge Local Cultural Council the BVAA will have new supplies for those who want to try their hand at oil, acrylic or watercolor painting.
