Born in South Africa, now living in the concrete jungle that is New York, with over 30 years of industry experience in the wonderful, scentful world of perfume. Sue Phillips among many things is an internationally renowned fragrance expert.

As Vice President at Tiffany&Co, Sue designed the iconic Tiffany perfume to mark their 150th milestone. Creating perfumes for Burberry, Trish McEvoy, Avon, Lancaster, Diane Von Furstenberg, Lancôme’s Magie Noire and Programme Homme, to name drop just a few. Sue created Scenterprises Inc in 1990, turning her passion into a global awardwinning company. This is something that can change daily or remain the same throughout life, reminding those around who’s signature scent they can smell. Covid hit us all hard, Sue was no exception in a business where scent is the hero, people around her were losing theirs, Covid was stealing the ability to taste and smell. Sue’s business came to a grinding halt! Taking this in her stride and not submitting to defeat. You get knocked down; you stand back up in whatever way you can. This is when Sue began to write. Sue is also helping many Covid sufferers who are struggling with Anosmia. Sue talks in her book of a moment she won’t forget. NBC TV wanted to do an interview and profile her new book, but at the same time wondered if she had a way of helping people rediscover their sense of smell. Sue had no idea whether she would be help and hadn’t really thought of physically being able to gift this to someone. INXS front man Michael Hutchence famously lost his taste and smell after suffering a head injury, he deeply lost his way while suffering with this. “They brought in a woman who had suffered from anosmia for almost 13 months, and by taking her on a ‘scent-healing’ journey, she was able to smell something, and she said: “I smell something, and it is beautiful”. The interview was aired and suddenly so many other ‘longhaulers’ contacted us to help them, and Inside Edition, New York Post, AmNY, Reuters, NBC TV Chicago, as well as Good Morning America, Voice of America , as well as news stations around the world have all profiled different stories of people who have been helped. It has been so emotional to see people rediscover their sense of smell, and a joy to have helped people realize how important our Olfactory sense is. Everyone has told me that they never paid attention to it before, and now are so thrilled that they are able to smell again”. This is more than just about creating a fragrance, this a life-long passion, working through the pressures of being in such a high-profile position, being an author, working through a pandemic and constantly striving for ways to inject new ideas into this self-grown business. THE SPECIAL TAX REGIMES IN GREECE In an age when business models are marked by expansion and digital disruption, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have become central to the strategies of most global companies. The pace of today’s M&A activity demands decisionmakers to make the right moves confidently and swiftly to avoid missing opportunities. Many of today’s international companies have made expansion through acquisitions a pillar of their strategy and even though deal-making levelled off in 2019, it appears that the climate is changing despite the continuation of COVID-19, as well as other geopolitical uncertainties such as Brexit. This trend is also strengthened by the realization that those companies that made acquisitions during a time of crisis outperformed those that retreated and retrenched. According to the data of Bank of Greece, the (net) inflows of Foreign Direct Investment in Greece for 2020, presented a decrease of 37.3%, whereas according to UNCTAD estimates for 2020 (Investment Trends Monitor, January 2021), developed countries experienced a 69% decline in FDI inflows, while in the EU-27 the inflows of FDI decreased by 71%. The trend continued in 2021 and investors reconfirmed their trust in March 2021, when Greece successfully raised EUR 2.5 billion from its first 30-year bond sale in more than a decade, with the issue more than 10 times oversubscribed. This clearly shows that despite the COVID-19 crisis during 2020 and 2021 the Greek Economy has proven to be resilient and the perception of the country as an investment destination continues to improve after a decade of economic crises, with investors citing Greece’s comparative advantages of ‘an economy with prospects for solid economic growth and stability in the wider region’, ‘quality of life’ and ‘quality of the labor force’. The Greek government has committed to achieving four to seven percent economic gross domestic product (GDP) growth for 2022-2027. A focus on green initiatives, Energy and Renewables and private sector companies who survived the COVID-19 financial crisis is helping to push deal growth. In addition, banks have committed to reducing their NPE/NPL portfolios to single digits — delivering credit in the process. The housing sector traditionally a key growth factor for the Greek economy, appears to be emerging from the pandemic largely unscathed and in the M&A market, foreign investors are seeing attractive valuations that — with adequate capital infusion— may create sector leaders when the economy starts growing.

Greece, despite the fiscal expansion required by the pandemic, maintained market confidence. Drawing in 2020, through 5 bond issues, liquidity amounting to EUR 12 billion with returns ranging from 1.2% to 2% noting a low history and with Moody’s upgrading the Greek debt at the end of 2020, now only 2 steps away from investment rank for Fitch and 3 for Moody’s and S&P. The provision of liquidity to the economy totaling EUR 15.7 billion, through the provision of low-interest loan advances, deferral of tax liabilities and support of employees, provided significant support to businesses affected by the crisis. At the same time, significant tax Reliefs have been announced and are already being implemented to support entrepreneurship and reduce labor costs through introduction of over-depreciation rates of 200% for three years for green and digital investments as well as through the abolition of the solidarity contribution. Two important changes that have taken place in the last two years undo significant competitive disadvantages of the Greek economy and are expected to advance further M&A activity in Greece. The first is the special tax regimes for individuals who choose to adopt Greece as a place of tax residence. The second is the exemption of legal entities from the capital gains tax for the sale of participations in other EU countries, the “participation exemption”. The EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, focusing on digital economy and green transition, could greatly contribute to attracting foreign investment, helping the country bridge the big investment gap of the past two decades. The rapid absorption of resources of the RRF and the accelerating reforms will determine the return of the country at growth rates after end of the pandemic. As foreign investors’ confidence in Greece is restored, the county is increasingly successful in attracting international capital and resources. Investors are recognizing Greece’s investment potential, but the journey is only at the beginning. When using Kwiktech, there is no manufacturing, welding, metal preparation, painting, specialist tools or squaring up required. The Kwiktech connection is concealed within the hollow metal, the size of which depends on either the cosmetic demands of the design or its engineering requirements. In larger hollow metal sections, multiple Kwiktech connections can be used. Engineering is simply calculated from the extensive certified testing results of the Kwiktech connection with load, tension and compression forces.
