GLOBAL 100 | 2017

Welcome to Global 100 – 2019 Welcome to the 2019, Global 100, consisting of the World’s leading firms and individuals, with votes received from our global readers, in over 163 countries worldwide. The purpose of the Global 100 is to provide the readership with a comprehensive understanding of those firms that are truly leaders within their chosen areas of specialisation. The Global 100 does not follow the usual process followed by many others. It follows a very specific, very comprehensive process, not commonly used elsewhere in the industry. Following the closure of the process, which follows a very strict format of self-submission and thirdparty nomination, firms are shortlisted and selected as winners. For each category awarded a proprietary method of analysis ranks winners based on their domestic and international work. This ranking method produces a list of shortlisted firms, based on a very comprehensive set of criteria. Once all votes have been received, a panel of judges review the votes within each category. The judging process assesses the following considerations; The strategic nature of work conducted. The complexity of work conducted. The scale of work conducted. Whether the work conducted was done in a timely manner, and within budget. Any ground-breaking or innovative processes used during completion of conducted work. The judging process focuses strongly on the complexity and strategic significance of work conducted. The above criteria underline’s the importance of the recognition each winner is receiving as a Global 100 winning organisation, firm or individual. In summary, the Global 100 program provides a benchmark of the very best of the best industry leaders, exemplary team’s and distinguished organisations. We would like to extend our congratulations to all the Global 100 – 2019 winners.

Europe Best Creative Design Agency 2019

I am excited to meet Designboard; the winner of our Best Creative Design Agency Award 2019 – Belgium. Located in the beautiful city of Antwerp - fittingly known as the Creative City of Belgium – we are welcomed with open arms by the core leadership team at Designboard; also known as the brand guardians of some of the world’s most ironic FMCG brands. Before we sit down on big rubber balls with a coffee in one hand and biscuit in the other; Marianne Madsen - the agency’s Global Client & Strategy Leader - gives us a tour of the two-storey industrial era agency space which hosts in excess of 150 people. The atmosphere is great, the teams are buzzing and we are told that Designboard is one of the prominent pillars within a larger network of talented professionals; Brand Quadergy. Together they master all aspects of global brand management from strategy and creation, to production and deployment, covering the full consumer value journey across all touchpoints. Trying to balance on my red rubber ball and look as composed as the dazzling lady sitting opposite me; Marianne explains that the heavenly biscuit I am eating is Speculoos, a traditional Belgian spiced shortbread biscuit

that taste a bit like gingerbread, only better! First of all, congratulations on winning the first award within our newly created Design and Branding category. Thank you very much! We are extremely proud and honoured, 2019 has been quite a glorious year for us so far and winning an award is always a nice way to be reminded that what you do is relevant and appreciated. How would you describe what you do in one sentence? We combine our superpowers of design, communication and creativity to generate engaging and meaningful brand experiences that deliver real impact and added value to consumers’ lives! How does a brand experience become meaningful? When it manages to successfully reflect the needs and desires of today’s consumer and resonate with them on a deeper level. It’s like the friends you keep; what do they bring to your life that makes them valuable, appreciated and important to you? What are the attributes that strengthens your

relationship, evokes trust, a certain level of dependability and admiration? Perhaps they make you feel understood, happy and confident or they help you, reassure you and give you peace of mind. Our clients seek ways to continuously engage with their audiences and master a positive experience at every touchpoint within the consumer journey. They are well aware that brand loyalty is what grows their businesses and with internet and social media influencing the acceleration of the full brand experience, they listen carefully to what their consumers tell them and place her at the forefront of everything that they do! And how would you define added value? Unlike EVA (Economic Value Added), it’s not directly linked to profits unless you define it as your brand’s equity. Added value is what creates and maintains a valuable bond between your brand and consumer, that little extra that sets you apart from competition and keeps you top of mind. Look at how to improve her user experience, reward her loyalty, offer free services and stay ahead of the game. Think of added value from your consumers’ perspective, not your business’s. How is the digital transformation impacting brands?

Belgium

It has already had a significant impact on a brand’s ability to deliver superior consumer experiences in captivating and disrupting ways towards a much more engaging and personalised brand and product offering, and it has helped businesses develop a deeper understanding of their consumers’ expectations and anticipate their future needs. I also see how more and more brands are bringing the successes of their digital web approach into their retail environments. Interactive product touch-screens and tablet tills are enhancing the retail experience and elevating a sense of tailor made options based on the consumers’ choices. What areas of brand marketing do you think will be important in the next 10 years? Mass personalisation and co-creation represents substantial growth opportunities for brand owners. Empowered by social networks and digital devices, consumers are turning into creators and dictating what they want, when and where they want it. The ability for consumers to be able to shape their own brand experiences and personalise them will be key. It will give brand owners the opportunity to demonstrate the value

consumers get from their personal data being used and simplify their product and service range which means lower marketing and production costs while creating more predictable demand. With the sharing economy set to exceed US$335 billion by 2025, share-based brands that focus on affordability, convenience and efficiency is another important area for brand marketing. We will see an increase in community based online platforms that will continue to challenge the big brand owners and identify ever evolving gaps in the market place with quick ‘go to market’ solutions. Brands will need to embrace more transparency and authenticity and will do well in leveraging the powers they have, one being to reinforce the co-creation between suppliers, retailers, governments and consumers towards a more responsible and sustainable way of living. The brands of the future will make society a stakeholder in their brands.

nurtures our work and enhances our capacity to adapt to different markets through a deeper understanding of the main factors that influence and shape the relationship between consumers and brands and products. We know that within each of the regional markets we work for, there are largely similar cultural and religious traditions, spoken idioms, eating habits, lifestyles and artistic expressions, as well as historical conventions and political systems. We look to uncover the exciting differences but also the similarities, unifying the bigger picture whilst differentiating the details. It’s still the case that countries and cultures behave, communicate and perceive the world around them differently but this is often done so with very similar mind-sets. We work with a GLOCAL approach for multi-cultural brands, thinking globally across branding but locally across design and communication!

How do all these factors play a role in the work you create?

To what extend do you research and think about the person in the street, the people you design for?

They are top of mind in everything that we do and we develop insights and trends reports to inspire and influence our clients. There is a growing demand for a more holistic brand experience with younger consumers driving the demand across all generations. It is the brand owner’s ability to follow suit and leverage these mindsets in their brand building and marketing strategies that will decide which brands will remain relevant to today’s consumer. We work across global markets and have developed an intercultural approach with tools that

I don’t think we ever stop. It’s a pastime for people in our industry, an obsessive hobby that all our family and friends can testify to, because it drives them all crazy. There is no such thing as a 10 minutes trip to the supermarket, my children only let me go in the weekends and find it awkward the way I stop and snap photos in every isle, raving or outraging at displays and designs alike. The consumer is absolutely at the heart of everything that we do. We spend as much time as we can with them,

talking to them extensively in workshops and focus groups, stalking them in supermarkets and shoppingmalls, taking note of their conscious and subconscious shopping behaviour. We aim to gain a clear cultural and psychological understanding of their lives; their challenges, ambitions, aspirations and their role in society. What matters to her? Why? Who is she when she is alone? At work? Comforting her children or in her lover’s arms? How does she react? Process information? Prioritise decisions? Define value and quality? These insights all contribute in various degrees to how we communicate with her, design for her, the styles and filters we apply, the way we build the consumer journey, within which environments and at what touch-points! Ultimately, we look for tangible insights that can be successfully applied across strategy, communication, design and innovation.

The Global 100 Team would like to congratulate designboard on winning Best Creative Design Agency Award 2019 – Belgium!

Tell me a bit about Procter & Gamble and the work you do for them?

We have been working together with P&G as long as we have been open for business. We just celebrated 50 years on the map so that’s something we are very proud of. For the past 20 years we have been working primarily for Fabric Care so think bubbles, whiteness, brightness, protection, softness and long-lasting scents to mention the most obvious. But of course, it is much more than that! It becomes about enticing her, seducing her senses, putting a smile on her face, rewarding her, surprising her, meeting her needs and exceeding her expectation. It’s about trust and loyalty, comfort and reassurance and it’s important to be able to communicate with her in a manner that is meaningful and relevant to her. We work across global and local portfolios with equal passion and we have designed some of P&G’s most iconic and loved brand identities as well as hundreds of their packaging designs. We are lucky to work with both R&D, Consumer Intelligence, Marketing and Design and also on such famous and long-standing brands that both my grandparents, my parents, myself and now my children buy and believe in. Finally, what are you allowed to tell me about the projects that have contributed to you winning the prestigious award of Best Creative Design Agency 2019? We were fortunate to work with exceptional leaders and amazing teams across both project. Each was headed up by super talented ladies who have an exceptional knowledge of their brand portfolio, their target audience and their market. I have to say this is very typical for P&G but we were extra blessed, as they also have a very comprehensive understanding of design, a love for

Europe Corporate Villa Rental Business of the Year - 2019 Exclusive Private Villas Ltd

UK

THE “EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE VILLAS DIFFERENCE”

The prime end of the villa vacation rental market offers up huge opportunities for the corporate hospitality sector which is why founder and CEO, Kerrie Potts entered the marketplace with her unique offering. The proposition is to focus on high end, quality properties which not only are vetted by property management partners, but Kerrie herself. Exclusive Private Villas has become an accommodation provider catering for not only villa renters seeking luxury homes but also businesses looking for accommodation for staff attending exhibitions, conferences and staff getaways. Throughout 2019, Exclusive Private Villas offered the opportunity for companies attending major conferences in locations such as Orlando with an alternative to standard hotel room offerings and the destinations base has extended throughout the year . Exclusive Private Villas have added destinations across Europe, Asia and American with villas in Orlando, Barbados, Ibiza, Greece, Koh Samui and Croatia. Exclusive Private Villas, winner of the 2018 Corporate Luxury Villa rental company of the year in the prestigious “Corporate Travel Awards” saw an early opportunity to market its prestigious luxury vacation rental villas to the business community during off-peak holiday periods which provides villa owners with an extra boost to their occupancy with the kind of high quality clients that are in big demand. Since recognising this opportunity, Exclusive Private Villas have focussed on marketing accommodations to their network of 147,000 clients in the industries of Entertainment, Sport, Banking, Finance and business. Commenting on this opportunity, Kerrie Potts says “It wasn’t an obvious choice at first as we had mainly focussed on vacation rental but because our high net worth clients generally come from business backgrounds, the synergy became apparent. What our clients were looking for were large, often 20+ guest luxury accommodations where staff could enjoy the space our villas offered whilst doing business and incentivising staff. A stay at one of our impressive villas is a real motivating factor and provides staff with a lot of bonding opportunities”.

GROWTH Since 2017, Exclusive Private Villas have expanded the number of properties they offer from a base of 100 villas to now over 550 properties. Kerrie comments “With such a large number of properties in our portfolio we are often able to offer our clients adjacent properties next door or even across the road to each other in order to cater for very large groups which can quite often be 70 to 100 strong. Couple that with some of our super large homes, businesses can hold staff events in the bigger homes whilst staff stay very close by to the event being held”.

UNIQUE PRODUCT FEATURES A key factor in the Exclusive Private Villas success is down to the fact that many of the villas offer staff the added benefit of relaxing around the private pools, enjoy the in-villa entertainment (such as a private bar, pool tables, ice hockey and video games) and enjoy a private, quality time amongst work colleagues away from the limitations they previously had booking hotel rooms. Kerrie explains “Most of our topend villas do come with some quite extraordinary features which lend themselves perfectly to the corporate market and often our clients couple their stay with some of our concierge services such as a private chef or executive limousines”. When it comes to destinations, the business has not only focussed on the holiday features of an area but also those core cities where convention centers are abound. The Orlando area, for example, like Las Vegas, is a typical mecca for companies promoting their goods and services and wishing to showcase them at some of the big exhibition centres like “Gaylord Palms” or the huge “Orange County Convention Center”.

Unlike the vacation market, the corporate market requires an extra level of service and facilities that Exclusive Private Villas are also able to offer as Kerrie explains. “We find our corporate clients are wanting something different and more than just meeting rooms and reception areas and we often find ourselves organising staff events with a twist. These invariably involve using the private, and often very large outdoor areas within the gorunds of our homes to host events. We offer quite a unique hospitality experience with a much different feel to what our guests are used to. Our clients really enjoy the privacy our homes can uniquely provide”

A CONSISTENT APPROACH Whilst Exclusive Private Villas pride themselves on a very bespoke approach, which lends itself perfectly to corporate demands, one of their huge successes is the ability to offer brand consistency across all their homes. A stay at an Exclusive Private Villas home can quite literally have the same look, feel and strong brand essence from one home to another. Raising the bar in the luxury private villa market has certainly been a key factor in Exclusive Private Villas success as Kerrie explains. “Customers don’t really want to arrive at their villa not knowing what level of quality to expect from the home, so we pay a huge amount of attention to consistency of our product – from toiletries, to wifi to the cleanliness of the pool, we feel it’s really important to ensure that our customers only get pleasant surprises”.

HEAD OFFICE The company is based on the south coast in Chichester, England and has a team of destination specialists available 24/7 – 365 days a year to be on hand for first line support whilst partnering with award winning local ground teams who oversee the quality control of the product and assist guests with a luxury concierge service during their stay. Their Orlando team was awarded the FVRMA Management company of the year award for 2017/18, a prestigious award proudly held for their second year. Kerrie adds “Ground teams are what really makes or breaks a stay and we have a strict policy to work only with very well established, award winning teams. We found that working directly with villa owners doesn’t provide anywhere near the level of quality control we demand for our clients and guests. With villa selection, we only really work with agents who can provide the style and the level of service that our corporate customers can trust”.

LOOKING FORWARD The first year of business saw the company grow by 400% in terms of inventory and in 2020 have ambitious plans to grow this even further. “We announced our growth plans for 2019 which was successful but in 2020 we are planning to grow our destination base even further which will see our inventory grow and our focus continues to be on large cities which could include London, Sydney and Los Angeles Kerrie adds. “Luxury and corporate travel is much more than simply choosing a destination and selecting a property. The demands we see of our clients mean that much of our focus is helping the clients not only select a perfect property for their event or their attendance of a nearby EXPO but equally helping them plan their stay, helping them plan their catering and helping them ensure a smooth and successful business trip. This is one of the main reasons we are seeing so much repeat business from our existing clients and it is these very clients who are providing the testimonials to our new clients who we welcome on board every day”.

Europe Henry Howard Finance Group - CEO of the Year

United Kingdom

It’s simple but effective. Personal service is key – we listen to our clients, understand their needs and wants, and find an appropriate funding solution.

Mark Catton It’s just over a year since Mark Catton, the former head of RBS’s UK Corporate Bank and Non Executive Director of Direct Line Group Plc took up the role of CEO at Henry Howard Finance (HHF), and the second time in the same period he has been named CEO of the year by Global 100. Here, Global 100 chats to Mark about taking the Global 100 title for a second year running, and what the next steps for HHF are. Congratulations Mark – how does it feel to have been named CEO of the year by Global 100 for 2018 and now for 2019 too? It’s brilliant. It recognises the HHF team and what we’re trying to do. We have a growing fan base and are trying to provide fantastic service to our customers. We haven’t shouted about our successes but our profile is growing and we’re establishing ourselves as a technology led, service led business, going the extra mile for our customers, who like our people and what we’re trying to do. It has been a very busy time for you and the business. What have been your highlights so far? Our highlight has to be the quality of the team and the number of fantastic people we’ve been able to attract to the business. The great thing about our new recruits is that they all like our story and want to be part of it. We’ve added more than 60 new people to the team in the last year and there’s more to come. It’s a new team, with different ideas, with a passion for driving improvements and success. We have fantastic customer relationships and will keep growing the franchise. We’re investing heavily in various technology and data tools – our customers really like our offering and we’re working with them to ensure we’re investing in the rights areas and adding value to their own customer acquisition and experience. We’re a new Board and senior management team and it’s great to have the freedom to set our own aspirations and objectives. We’re aiming high – very high – and see huge potential for the business and how we can add value to our customers and what they’re trying to do. The British Business Bank has been brilliant in supporting our funding needs. We’ll need to make sure we have the right funding mix as we keep growing and adding customers. HHF works in a very competitive market and many SMEs are still looking to high street lenders for finance. How does HHF stand out from the crowd? It’s pretty straightforward really. It’s about a passion for great service. Our teams build personal relationships with our customers and do their best to support their finance needs. If you look at our customer case studies, they all say how well supported they feel by their account manager. The vast majority of the deals we finance for our customers are done on our own balance sheet, so we make quick decisions and can be very flexible, but we also have excellent relationships with our panel of funders, so we can deliver a range of solutions.

38

Vendor finance is a key part of business for HHF – how is HHF helping SMEs with leasing agreements, and again, what makes HHF different in this market? Relationships, Service, Technology. We’ve not particularly shouted about it but we’re one of the leading Vendor finance businesses in the UK. We support several hundred Vendors across all sectors and equipment types - for example, we finance complex IT programmes, telecoms solutions, security equipment, shopfitting, leisure equipment, to a range of vending solutions. We work with some of the biggest Vendors in the market and offer a technology-led and service-led model. Our HowApp technology offers Vendors what they need to give their SME customers the service they want - and we’re currently investing significant sums into our HowApp platform to ensure it is at the leading edge in this market. We’re working in partnership with a number of our Vendor customers to ensure we get that right, which has been a great asset in the development of the platform. Importantly though and despite the use of technology in this market, we also try to deliver a great personal service - all our Vendors have dedicated relationship teams and that is pivotal to our continued success in this market. What do you love about working for HHF? Running our own business - well, it’s owned by Cabot Square Capital - but it feels like our own! It really is a massive privilege. I also love the opportunity to lead and grow a thriving business, and to see our team really enjoying what they do and wanting to be part of what we’re building – it’s incredibly rewarding. We have a super flat management structure. We make decisions and get things done – it’s simple but it works. 2019 continues in many ways to be a difficult one for the UK economy, with a lot of uncertainty lingering on around Brexit. What do you think are going to be the biggest challenges for SMEs in the UK in the coming years and how can HHF help? There are plenty of Brexit commentators. I don’t need to add to them. The paralysis in Government is clearly unhelpful for businesses of all shapes and sizes, but the way I see it is that SMEs will stick to what they’re good at. Some will keep investing and growing and be opportunistic, whilst others will need to baton down the hatches. Management teams are generally pretty robust and resilient. They’ll keep a close eye on supply chains and how their own customers, buyers and suppliers are faring. Access to finance is hugely important to many SMEs and that’s how we help and can step in - most of what we do is for business-critical equipment. Our door is always open to chat through funding options for SMEs. What can we expect to see next from HHF beyond 2019? Our plans are to keep growing and investing – particularly in our technology and service platform. We’re only as good as our customers see us. We expect to support thousands more SMEs with their equipment finance requirements. To contact Henry Howard Finance please call 01633 415222 or visit www.henryhowardfinance.co.uk.

Europe Best Online Cat Information Platform 2019

UK

Katzenworld was set up about 4 years ago by a small band of cat enthusiasts who wanted to share their love of cats with a wider audience Naturally, they turned to the internet but were disappointed that many sites listed under “Pets” were in fact all about the other furry four-legged friends; dogs. It wasn’t that they disliked dogs, they just wanted to share their experiences with their cats somewhere. One night during a board game evening, the group joked about starting their own blog about cats. And so, the idea for the blog was born. When working with companies on promoting cat welfare and cat-related products it is a core belief of Katzenworld to stay independent and thoroughly review content to ensure readers are provided with accurate and helpful information. When it comes to product reviews it is particularly important to maintain neutrality so that readers can trust what they read. Only when a product has been fully tested and approved by the Katzenworld team will it be published. While Katzenworld works with companies through partnerships and other collaborations these are carefully chosen long-term relationships after a service or product has been thoroughly tested. To achieve this, Katzenworld has worked with many cat professionals and related associations such as International Cat Care and the IFSM. Katzenworld believes that it’s their followers and readership that sets them apart to provide clients in the pet industry with means to reach an engaged audience that is often willing to provide constructive feedback or help spread the word about products. Additionally, Katzenworld will never turn a contributor away but instead guide them in making their contribution a valuable piece for the cat community In the beginning, they set up a simple web-based blog to post pictures and amusing stories about their own four cats; Oliver, Nubia Snowball and Mau. They soon realised that there was also a demand for a space for people reading the blog to share their own experiences. This is the core of Katzenworld, and something which sets them apart from many other pet blogs; the capacity for everyone could both consume and produce content. At that time, readers began asking them questions about cat health and wellbeing, which lead to the collaborations between Katzenworld and trusted organisations in the sector such as International Cat Care (ICatCare). Katzenworld began a

40

successful collaboration with the German company, 4cats, to launch a range of toys in the UK. At Katzenworld’s centre are the editorial/director team, Marc-Andre Runcie-Unger and Iain Runcie-Unger who are responsible for the content selection and daytoday management. They also oversee the direction of Katzenworld’s editorial policy. Both have daytime jobs, so maintaining Katzenworld takes up all their free time. Around this core, there is a small team of professional content writers, which include cat behaviourists, veterinary staff, artists and journalists. A third layer consists of various content creators, such as regular visitors sharing their experiences, welfare experts from animal charities and other pet industry professionals. All have been carefully selected to be in line with Katzenworld’s ethos by reviewing previously published content and conferring with existing connections. Their policy is to permit people to express their opinions and allow them to be debated with a wide input. This is an important aspect of the Katzenworld community which they believe has contributed to their success. Rather than hiring additional talent to the company, contributors apart from Marc-Andre and Iain are volunteers or individuals who run their own blogs websites and benefit from people finding out about them creating good content. Through careful expansion Katzenworld has managed to attract a new audience of 150.000 monthly unique visitors via their Apple News Channel which has added a whole new spectrum of readers to their portfolio. On average 500.000 articles are read on the Apple News channel alone each month. “Katzenworld wouldn’t be what it is today without our large follower base, it’s an engaged audience and the nearly 300 worldwide contributors. And of course, there are also our 5 mascots, Oliver the Tuxedo, Nubia the black cat, Renegade the Oriental Shorthair, Freya the straight coat Peterbald and Ha’Penny the Australian Mist that are technically our product testers! ;)”

DR JOHN DOUSE

Independent Forensic Expert Witness Services As an independent provider of forensic services we have time to examine each case thoroughly and in depth, and to pursue exhaustively the possibility of innocent explanations for observed evidence.

using our own funds, in order to provide new improved Techniques that can provide answers in the most complicated and demanding forensic scenarios. (Carrying on our established publication record in this field)

We are frequently instructed when other resources have failed to identify a challenge.

• Sometimes this research can occur as part of a trial (Eg r v campbell norris ultra low level detection, a world first)

We continue to lead pioneering innovation in forensic trace analysis techniques, an example being the first use of nanobore hplc/ms/ms to detect insulin, in an invisible plasma residue, in the leeds insulin murders (r v campbell norris) in 2007. In this work we achieved a sensitivity for insulin 1000 times lower than previously achieved.

• We are regularly tasked when other resources fail to provide a conclusion

Our report was selected in place of those of three other experts, in the case of r v ahmed ali, (plot to destroy passenger aircraft on the trans atlantic route using liquid explosives) for the defence of all 8 defendants. We have recently assisted the defence with the dpp v sharon collins ricin investigation, and the london/glasgow car bombings among many other cases under instruction.

THE SPIRIT THAT DRIVES US

TECHNIQUES DEVELOPED

1: The GC TEA method for the screening of highly contaminated real world samples for traces of explosives. 2: The quality control techniques used for the operation of Laboratories involved in the trace analysis of explosives and other forensic chemicals of interest (eg DNA) at the low nanogram level.

• Our expertise arises from forty years of scientific experience and 25 years of forensic casework and research Experience (met police forensic science lab and forensic explosives lab (london)

3: The silica capillary column gas chromatography method for detecting low nanogram traces of date rape benzodiazepine drugs in small (100 microlitre blood samples).

• We process 20 cases per year involving forensic chemistry

4: The prostaglandin method for investigating sexual offences.

• This permits us to exhaustively investigate the circumstances of each case • These cases often are some of the most high profile • This level of care results often in revealing detail that has been overlooked by other resources (Eg. Research on hydrogen peroxide concentration techniques overlooked for 6 years) • Economy with public and private funding is matched by an understanding of our responsibility to impartially serve the court, coroners enquiries, or inquests • Our cross disciplinary expertise provides new insights (first to notice reports in explosive literature and link Them to likely gunshot residue contamination issues) • We carry out continuing fundamental forensic research

42

• In many cases we have pioneered, developed and published the techniques and quality control procedures used to obtain evidence, and as a result have an unassailable proven superior expertise in these matters compared to other “experts”.

5: The GC/TEA method for detecting traces of Organic Components of gunshot residue. 6: Vacuuming, headspace, and absorbent clean-up techniques for the trace analysis of explosives, gunshot residue, prostaglandins, and drugs in heavily contaminated samples. 7: First use of Nanobore HPLC Electrospray MS (Quadrupole)/ MS(Time of Flight) to detect and identify nanogram traces of Insulin in a casework sample in the UK. (R v Campbell Norris). 8: The TLC technique for the trace analysis and differentiation of different types of Nitrocellulose. 9: Highly specific TLC method for the detection and identification of low nanogram levels of nitroaromatic explosives in highly contaminated samples using laser

Europe Best Independent Financial Advisory Firm 2019

One of Harrogate and Yorkshire’s leading Independent Financial Advisers and Employee Benefit Consultants, Prosperis Limited offer innovative and objective advice to a wide range of clients. Among our esteemed winners in this year’s Yorkshire & Humber Enterprise Awards, Prosperis is definitely one to watch, as we found out when we profiled the firm and offered readers a glimpse into the work it undertakes and the secrets behind its incredible success. Established in 2002 by Niall Gunn, CEO, Prosperis provides a wide range of holistic financial advice to individuals and business throughout the UK. The business recently relocated to new premises in the centre of Harrogate primarily to accommodate their on-going expansion. Chairman, Paul Meehan, has many years’ experience in building up businesses through mergers and acquisition and he takes a leading role for the business in that regard. The firm supports a vast array of clients that come from across all sectors of business,

46

industries and the professions. What links these clients is the exceptional, pro-active service they receive when they work with Prosperis. The majority of the firm’s clients seek retirement planning and general investment advice, however, Prosperis’ flexible approach and skilled personnel mean the firm is able to support them with any financial or employment benefit support they may need. Through this approach, the firm works hard to offer clients a service seeking to create a wealth accumulation and protection plan that meets their individual needs, rather than simply aiming to sell them off the shelf products. This method ensures the firm’s objectives are aligned with those of its clients, reinforcing Prosperis’ commitment to providing them with the very best financial advice both today and for the years ahead. When a new client comes to the firm to seek support and advice, the team aim to provide them with simple, practical advice they can

GLOBAL 100 | 2019

understand, rather than bombarding them with information they cannot understand or use. Prosperis firmly believes in engaging with clients at a level they can gain the most from, rather than over complicating the solution, as, in many cases, the simplest solution is the one that fits most, most of the time. By minimising jargon and providing as much or as little access to staff as a client may need, Prosperis is able to provide clients with the highest possible quality of support and service which meets their exact requirements. This approach has served the company well, and today it leads the competitive financial advice market. In Yorkshire and Harrogate especially, there is a high demand for these services, with many new firms entering the market on a regular basis. What sets Prosperis apart from these other companies is its exceptional level of client service. By working closely with the client to understand their long-term goals and support them to achieve these, the company is able to retain its client base and enhance this year-onyear. Within the financial advice market currently, there are a lot of regulations and changes impacting Prosperis and its clients. Recently, the Regulator has taken steps to look at the many transfers out of final salary pension schemes and tightened up the already strict processes involved. Prosperis believes this is good practice but many firms have fallen foul of these rules and advice is likely to suffer as a result. However, thanks to its committed staff and their hard work and innovation, Prosperis has managed to support its clients through this development and it will continue to adapt and remain at the forefront of the latest industry developments moving forward.

private medical insurance, critical illness cover and group life assurance arrangements. Looking to the future, Prosperis is continuing with its aim to expand, via both organic growth and through acquisition. The company has already purchased one small business last year and is currently in talks with other firms with a view to making at least two additional purchases in 2019. Whilst this growth is vital to the firm’s ongoing success, the team will remain committed to ensuring its service offering remains at the highest standard that clients have come to expect. Prosperis is continuing to grow its advisory team and has recently hired a number of new staff in its strategy to expand its Wealth Management service further. Nicholas Utting, Associate Director, has been with the firm for over 7 years and takes the leading role in private client delivery. Nick has recently been joined in his role in dealing with individual clients as the firm appointed Matthew Tallant and David McLaughlin as independent financial advisers. As part of this focus, Prosperis is currently seeking to adapt around the changes it is seeing in the financial advice market by developing its own Wealth Platform, which will provide its clients with real time, live access to the company’s back office system. This will enable clients to access valuations, store important documents, such as Will and Powers of Attorney, and edit their data on-line. To assist the firm in bringing its service offering to clients, the firm recently appointed Matthew Harris as Head of Operations. Matthew has many years of experience with large national firms and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the business.

For corporate clients, Prosperis offers a bespoke service in a number of complex fields. Led by David Carrington, Corporate Development Director, Prosperis provides specialist advice to

Europe Best Fine Dining Restaurant 2019

Raphael Warda is a German-born chef and restaurateur with a talent for Mediterranean cuisine. He discovered that he could make his passion for cooking a job when, for a favor, he worked as cook for the father of his friend.. Fast-forward a few years and this creative, innovative chef is now running his own kitchen in his own restaurant Pau Claris 190, a high-end, yet casual and cosy eatery in a trendy Barcelona neighbourhood. LTG spoke to Raphael to find out more about his interesting story and get to know how he was inspired to create one of Barcelona’s most exciting new restaurants.

The kitchen is memories: my mother cooked me exotic recipes from India and my grandmother gave me German desserts. This is reflected in my current kitchen. Everything I’ve lived influences my recipes. I first trained as a chef in French cuisine at a restaurant in Ibiza, as my mentor was a really good French chef from Paris. I studied in French cuisine as well and so I became very familiar with it, but I then got really into using local produce in my dishes too. In my studies I also met Japanese cuisine and with it I discovered the philosophy and respect for fresh produce and the treatment of vegetables. This is why the cuisine at Pau Claris 190 is Mediterranean with French influences, with a focus on the use of fresh local with the exotic touch of my mother’s kitchen and my grandmother. At the end it has all been inspired by my own personal experiences as a chef since I have learned throughout my time in this job what makes great food.

Barcelona, Spain

introduce herself and ensure they feel welcome and at home. Actually, offers a personal treatment that makes diners feel at home.

Together we offer a very personal service. Except for the sauces which we prepare ahead of time, we cook all our food only once the guest has ordered it in the proper, traditional way, so that it is fresh. The aim of this is to ensure our guests get the healthiest food and the tastiest flavours possible in order to give them a memorable gastronomic experience. As there is nothing pre-cooked in the restaurant, my wife and I are also able to meet all of our guest’s personal requests; for example, if a guest has allergies or intolerances, we can factor it into the preparation of their meal. We even make our own bread on-site, both gluten and gluten-free. But above all it worries that everything is correct so that the diners can be calm and enjoy the experience without worrying about anything.

My mum had always used organic vegetables and produce; I had grown up with this and had become used to it, so this influenced me to open my own restaurant in Barcelona that specifically used only local organic produce, which I believe are of the best quality. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable; you don’t have to dress up really elegant but you can if you want to. The feeling of being welcome is not just in the décor, you can also see it in the atmosphere and the fact that you don’t need to dress up. My wife Lizbeth Brophy, the hostess, is always ready to greet our guests directly as they come through the door; she will sit them down,

Europe Best Executive Search Consultancy 2019 – Facilities Management

UK & EMEA Regions

Global 100 interviewed Nikki Dallas, Founder & Director of Talent FM Winners of Best Executive Search Consultancy 2019 – Facilities Management – UK & EMEA Congratulations to Talent FM. How do you feel about winning? We were excited to be nominated in such a competitive category, but we are even more delighted to be chosen for such a prestigious award. Talent FM has always been a facilities management specialist recruiter but over the past couple of years we have been moving towards the executive search model which we believe gives our clients far better results. What do you think influenced the decision of the judges? Every company claims to be unique but we have created a genuine point of difference in the industry. Our one year guarantee on all our work is very popular with clients because it mitigates some of their risk. We have been bold to do this because no one else is doing it but we believe our product and service is world class and we wanted to share that confidence by offering a guarantee on our results. It makes sense for us because when we analysed our placement data we realised that 98% of all the candidates we introduced were still in place after 12 months. So if we were getting it that right, first time and almost every time, why not disrupt the sector and challenge others to stand behind their results as well. The judges were keen to reward innovation. Your Zodiac product was noted as a point of excellence. Can you tell me more about that? Certainly! It is something we are incredibly proud of and have spent a lot of time and energy on to get right. Zodiac pushes recruitment into the 21st Century. It is a portal that can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer, tablet or

50

phone. All hiring managers have access to it so they can keep up to speed with their assignment and where we are up to in the process. Our research told us that clients were keen to have this knowledge so that they had more engagement throughout the duration of the campaign. We incorporate video interviewing, key competency questions and psychometric testing into the portal so we are delving deeper than the standard skills & experience and able to assess softer skills and the cultural and team fits of candidates. This is an absolutely crucial part of our success; our ability to get the right person in the right role. The feedback from candidates has been excellent too because they get their own log-in to the portal and are able to answer questions from the client directly so they feel they can ‘sell’ themselves into the role, rather than just relying on the consultant’s point of view. We are very happy with it and pleased that the judges appreciated what we have developed. What is next for Talent FM Executive Search? Global domination! No, all joking aside we would like to develop our business into new geographies. We predominantly currently work in UK, Europe and the Middle East but we would like to share our offering to a wider audience. We have an excellent network in India because we had an office there for a couple of years so Asia Pacific seems the most logical area for expansion. And finally, what are the values you live by? Treat others how you wish to be treated. And be kind, you never know what someone is going through.

Europe Leading Expert in Hearing Tinnitus & Balance - 2019 The Audiology Clinic: Dr Deepak Kumar

County Kildare, ROI

The Audiology Clinic

Expert in Hearing & Balance healthcare

Ear is the only organ in our body that is responsible for two function - Hearing and Balance. Anatomy of the Inner ear house both senses hearing and balance. Therefore when inner ear gets affected due to any reason either trauma, disease or ageing, it is possible that one’s both hearing and balance function can get affected or may be only hearing or only balance can get affected. Person with dizziness or balance disorder may or may not have hearing loss. It is important to remember that dizziness or vertigo is only a symptom and not a diagnosis. Formal vestibular assessment is required to know the possible causes of dizziness/vertigo which can help in treatment. Can you imagine your life without hearing the voice of your loved ones? No, it’s difficult for everyone. It is really annoying when you want to participate in a conversation but you are not able to hear others properly. It creates lack of confidence and one feels like to stay home rather than participating in any social gathering, a family function or in a party. That is the unfortunate reality of “Hearing loss”. A large number of population with hearing difficulty don’t wear hearing aids. Some of them are not confident to use them, some feels they will become dependent on hearing aids. The reality is if a hearing aid is fitted appropriately after a proper assessment then it improves the hearing quality and it does not damage hearing. Studies show that the people who wear hearing aids are more happy and confident. Tinnitus is perception of sound when there is no external source. Tinnitus sound could be ringing, buzzing, clicking and it could range from low to very high pitch and may be continuous to intermittent. The severity of perception of tinnitus can also range from subtle to shattering. Hyperacusis is a disorder in which a person finds intolerance to sounds otherwise it seems normal to most people. People who suffer with hyperacusis may find normal environmental sounds too loud. There are various different treatment option available to manage tinnitus and hyperacusis. Complete medical and audiological assessment is required to know the best possible treatment option. Why choose audiology specialist? An Audiologist/ Audiological Scientist is a healthcare professional involves in

assessment and management of people with hearing and balance problems. This includes patients of all ages from newborn babies to elderly people. The Audiology Clinic is a private independent audiology practice. At our clinic we facilitate prevention, assessment and management of patients suffering with hearing, tinnitus and balance (vertigo/dizziness) disorders. All patients attending the audiology clinic are seen by Dr Deepak Kumar, Audiological Scientist. During over 18 years of professional experience, Deepak has worked in all aspects of Clinical Audiology including tinnitus, advanced audio-vestibular (auditory and vestibular), prescription of hearing aids, cochlear implant etc. He has been involved in teaching medical and paramedical students in the clinic as well as in the university. He has also carried out various research related to audiology (audiovestibular). His recent research was on “The Effect of Body Position and Pressure on the Cochlea” with Professor David Kemp who is the Emeritus Professor at UCL Ear Institute, London. CyberSecurity Solutions Provider of the Year

Our Mission is to maintain a complete future-proof cyber security infrastructure – The Internet of Trust™ – built to the very highest modern standards by a team of highly experienced specialists, using the best-in-class patented technologies. This infrastructure is made available to government, businesses and consumers on a supply contract basis, tailored to the requirements of that organization or individual. We are the only company offering fully integrated endto-end holistic cyber security as a service. Ghost Systems, Inc. is a Nevada, USA corporation organized in January 2014. Ghost established its worldwide corporate headquarters and NOC/SIC in Nevada, USA to support the Financial Services & Banking; Legal; Healthcare/Pharma; Critical Infrastructure & Energy; Mid-Market Enterprise and The Internet of Things markets. Ghost has a world-class business and technology team including several of the finest developers of cyber security technologies in the world today. Conventional cyber security solutions are fundamentally “Hackable by Design”. It is impossible to create a secure environment using a hodgepodge of “point solutions” to create a cohesive, secure environment. Ninety-six percent of all reported breaches were variants of nine types of attack vectors. Ghost Systems’ network with its Jibberish™ user interface eliminates all nine confirmed attack vectors. Deployed in mid-2015, Ghost Systems’ SafePlace Ecosystem™ is designed from the ground up to be Resilient and “Secure by Design.” The tightly integrated Kevlar™ Mesh network design – Ghost Network coupled with Jibberish™, a secure Wall metaphor – virtually guarantees corporate infrastructure is protected as well as the information that is transported across it. By tightly integrating multiple proprietary technologies, the SafePlace Ecosystem is virtually impenetrable at all layers of the OSI Model. Each element of the tightly integrated Ghost network has been third-party Pen tested as impenetrable. Once implemented into an organization, the Ghost Network actually Ghostifies™ the network

and Jibberish™ Ghostifies™ any organization connected to it (makes the network and the enterprise disappear, like it is not even there), creating a SafePlace™ in which to safely communicate with customers, partners or entire communities of common interest – dramatically enhancing data availability, confidentiality, and integrity and preventing unauthorized access or theft of all forms of digital information – whether in-flight or at-rest. There is no other holistic solution available today that employs proprietary technologies to provide such a highly resilient and secure network & communications ecosystem. Ghost – in cooperation with over a dozen key prospect companies – defined and developed several key workflow solutions to support various industry-specific workflows. One such workflow is designed to replace the traditional cyber methods used to communicate with clients and others in the Legal Market. The workflow contains; a secure personal information management service, and a permission-based Peer-to-Peer private messaging service. The workflow is easily added to existing tools making it an economical way to ensure all information shared and stored pertaining to any legal matter is absolutely secure. We intend to change forever the fundamental dynamics of the war between cyber criminals and the good guys, making the Internet or any other private or public network a safer place for people and businesses to interact, having a positive impact across the World.

GLOBE POS SYSTEMS INC GLOBE POS Systems started doing business back in 1970 and from the very beginning the aim was to provide quality service and products, while keeping customers’ interests in mind. The business started out as a small reseller of Logivision products and mainly concentrated on electronic cash registers. Then, Paul Leduc, the President of Globe POS took over the business ten years ago and continued to build upon the existing solid foundation. He set out to convert customers to computerized point of sale systems and add more products and services to better serve them, and the rest is history. Today, we not only specialize primarily in easy-to-use and easy-to-manage Point of Sale Systems, but we also offer every other peripheral and accessory that a store or restaurant might need to operate. Our product portfolio has increased drastically and includes some of the very best solution providers and brands

Security and Data Protection continues to be a very big concern for merchants and Globe POS is making sure that employees are QIR Certified and keep following all the rules of installation and management, while also using solutions that are certified to mitigate risk. We support a wide range of customers across the corporate spectrum, starting from grocery stores to convenience stores to pet stores, all the way to coffee shops and quick service restaurants. general is certainly a benefit when it comes to helping our clients decide on which products and services will best work for their environment. Most of our employees come with more than 5 years experience and have all the same mind-set, which is to deliver fantastic service. Our team is made up of very dedicated people whose sole goal is to ensure that our customers are always satisfied and while everyone pushes internet sales and orders, which can be very impersonal at the best of times, we still have a very traditional way of interacting with clients, as we still take the time to meet them in person. This personal touch really makes a big difference as it gives the customer an opportunity to not only get to know the products we offer but ultimately gives us as a company a better idea of what challenges they will face in their daily operations and help them effectively resolve them the first time round. Each and every customer is given the same priority, irrelevant to how big or small the sale might be and our efforts do not stop when the sale is closed or when the offices closes for the day, but extends beyond to our support team who is available around the clock. 2019 is already half-way through and it’s proving to be as busy and fruitful as predicted, if not more. still remain our firm’s core market and we continue to add well-renowned names to our already impressive line-up of customers, like Jimmy The Greek, McEwan, Ambrosia, Global Pet Foods, Johnvince and many more. And as our customer portfolio grows, so too does the team of people that support our endeavours. Globe POS keeps on investing a lot of time, resources and money to train ‘new’ and ‘old’ employees. A company is only as good as the people that work for it, so we continually train our staff on a regular basis to make sure that they are on top of their game with UpToDate information on new technology and trends in this ever-changing market. As Globe POS approaches its 50th year anniversary, we look at the forward to future with renewed hope and excitement at what new opportunities will present themselves. North America Best Rural Wedding Venue - Upstate New York,

New York

Historic Barns of Nipmoose Perched on a knoll overlooking a stunning pastoral landscape, the Historic Barns of Nipmoose provide an idyllic setting for rustic chic wedding receptions and ceremonies. Situated on the picturesque Nipmoose Farm in the upper Hudson River Valley of New York State, the barns once supported a thriving agricultural enterprise. Over the course of 10 years, the three historic barns were meticulously restored by skilled craftsmen. The Scottish Barn, German Barn and Corn Crib are superb examples of early timber framed structures. They are centrally located on a 120 acre farmstead, surrounded by vast expanses of farm fields and distant views of woodland. For the past seven years, the Nipmoose barns have hosted weddings of all sizes and styles. One bride aptly wrote, “While the Barns are majestic in stature and presence, their discrete and rural location and the layout of the property provided a very intimate setting for wedding vows and reception. The barns were the perfect setting for our country-themed affair, and the surprisingly endless amenities provided at such a rural site enhanced our experience tremendously.” A long private driveway leads to the three historic barns, a workshop barn for caterers, an aspen grove where ceremonies are held, a pond, and several gardens. As guests arrive, they feel as if they are stepping back in time to the 1800s when the barns were first built. The setting, combined with the superior quality of the barn restoration, is simply breathtaking. One couple wrote “From the second we turned into the long, tree-lined driveway, and took in the magnificent views, we knew we had found someplace special. A far remove from even the smallest nearby towns, the place had exactly the kind of secluded beauty we were looking for.” What is unique about the Historic Barns of Nipmoose as a wedding venue is having three barns (two large and one small) included in a single event. It affords couples a unique opportunity to plan their wedding. Each of the three barns serves a purpose during a wedding, and each couple can choose how best to use them. As one bride noted,“The multiple barns allow for you to turn your event into a world of its own and really allow your personality to show through.” Upon arrival for a wedding, guests enjoy the stunning view of the farmstead as they walk to the barns from the parking lot which is separated from the event

60

site (so as not distract visually from beauty of the buildings and grounds). The guests then gather around the aspen grove for the ceremony. Appetizers and drinks are generally served in the German Barn and after dinner, dancing is held there. The largest of the buildings, the Scottish Barn, is where dinner is served. The little Corn Crib is most often used for displaying memorabilia or as a photo booth. Guests enjoy the flow from one building to another throughout the evening, ambling across the “courtyard” from one barn to the next. The well located in the center of the courtyard is a popular welcome station, and fire pits positioned in proximity to the barns enhance the evening activities. All barns are equipped inside with rows of hanging Barcelona lights. In addition, in the evening, 100 oil fired lanterns hanging from shepherds’ hooks are lit outside, creating a magical aura. Amenities include three bathrooms (one of which is handicap accessible) and a bridal suite. Caterers work out of the Workshop Barn. The Nipmoose barns are owned by the non-profit, The Persistence Foundation, which is dedicated to land conservation and historic preservation. The foundation works with area conservation groups and promotes restoration, documentation and preservation of historic buildings such as barns. Whether elegant, casual, grand, intimate or something in between, you will be excited by the variety of options for weddings at Nipmoose. As one couple wrote, “Our guests were fascinated with the history of the Barns and the natural beauty of the property, which provided plenty of room and fresh air for socializing without ever feeling cramped or scheduled. Thank you for making it the most beautiful and memorable day for us- your venue is historical and breathtaking all at once!”

North America Best Author of the Year - New York

USA

A Futuristic Novel By Steven Jonas (Brewster, NY: Trepper & Katz Impact Books, an imprint of Punto Press Publishing; 3rd version, 2013). Originally published in 1996. Available at Amazon.com: The 15% Solution. The book has been called the Uncle Tom’s Cabin of its time. Another commentator has said: “Highly detailed, [it’s] a roadmap to the craziness of a powerful and fanatical segment of the population that is unlikely to fold any time soon.” A third has called Dr. Jonas the Cassandra of our time, for the U.S. In the 1990’s, when the book was written, the Republicans and the Christian Right were telling us what they would do if they ever got significant control of the Federal and State governments. They now have it. Under Donald Trump they are steadily moving in the direction of establishing what I have termed “21st Century Functional Fascism” (1). From the perspective of 199495, the book describes a fictional religious/

authoritarian future that for the nation that was predictable back then. Under the Trumpites, a version of it could still well become reality. Written as a “future history,” from the perspective of the mid-90s, the book is fictionally published in 2048, on the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Constitutional Democracy that occurred at the conclusion of the Second Civil War. “The 15% Solution” in the title refers to an electoral strategy to ensure victory for the Republican Christian Right which was actually developed in the 1980s by an organization called “The Christian Coalition.” (See also the current GOP voter suppression campaign). Written as “fictional non-fiction,” the book is focused on the threat of developing fascism “American

style,” that at that time was being posed by the Republican/Christian Right. The book’s primary purpose is to show how a theocratic authoritarianism can be gradually introduced into any country, even the “world’s greatest democracy,” behind a facade of Constitutional legality no less. That is, if there is no awareness in some significant sectors of the population and opposition elected and party officials nationally of what might happen and is happening. In that sense, it follows in the tradition established by its major forebears: Jack London’s The Iron Heel (1908) and Sinclair Lewis’ It Can’t Happen Here (1936). The former book predicted the rise of a fascist-type state in the United States, before the first one appeared in Hungary under the dictatorship of Admiral Miklos Horthy in 1919. The latter book predicted the development of one in the U.S., originally as the result of the 1936 elections (see also the 2016 elections). The fictional author of the book, as purportedly published in 2048, is ”Jonathan Westminster,” which is a play on the name Jack London. When originally published in 1996 the book was a warning about what might happen in the U.S. as a result of the alliance between the Christian Right and the Republican Party. With its re-issue in 2013, the book warned about the consequences of what was then happening, which by 2019 has become an ever more threatening reality, under the Trumpites, with their ever-increasing support among the Christian Right. Projected in the book in 1996 was that the Republican Party would trans-mogrify into a then-fictional “Republican-Christian Alliance.” By 2012, Howard Fineman of The Huffington Post and MSNBC had determined that the Republican Party had really become what he termed the “American Faith Party” (2). The book takes it from there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------1. https://www.opednews.com/articles/21stCentury-Trumpite-Fasc-by-Steven-Jonas-Class_ Fascism_Fascism-Has-Happened-Here_FascismCant-Happen-Here-180206-345.html. 2. North America Baseball Business Consultant Of The Year 2019

Canada

through the gift and enhancements of this new and unlimited age of multi-media.” What complexities has your firm experienced recently and how has the firm overcome the challenges. What others perceive as challenges, I look at as a positive. Controversy creates headlines and I try to highlight the best in people and what they can do outside of their respective professions. Please elaborate upon your firm’s expertise, key individuals and, if applicable, its products, explaining how these give your firm a distinct advantage over its competitors.

Please give a brief description of your business, if applicable, its products and the services provided. Put simply, I combine business acumen with a proven track record of superior performance and an in-depth knowledge of baseball operations and the game in general from the inside out. I understand the culture, demands, and expectations within a professional baseball organization, As a player, I was always the go-to person when the game was on the line, and as a business professional, I have demonstrated the same ability to deliver excellence. This allows me to provide in-depth coverage of the game from a perspective that is second to none. Please outline the scope / reach of your business and its key territories / markets. The scope of my business is not necessarily in the area of baseball. My track record has allowed me to interview countless athletes in a variety of sports (NFL, NHL, UFC, WWE) and personalities in other industries. I cherish the opportunity to speak with people who have a story to be told and I have the ability to provide that platform. Please provide an overview of your firm’s products / services, please explain the ways in which your firm distinguishes itself from its competitors, please provide, if available, recent examples of where your firm has achieved recognition, demonstrating your strengths.

I am currently in the process of completing my Masters in Leadership (concentration in Sports Management) from Northeastern University. Once I graduate, I have a lot of thinking to do, particularly about my education. I would love to continue this journey and get my PhD in Sports Leadership. Yes it has been difficult balancing life and postgraduate classes, but I have proven to myself that I can literally do anything I want if I put my mind to it. Sounds cliché, but it is true. I have never been the smartest, the biggest, or the strongest and I wove that into my mindset to achieve a baseball scholarship and in to a professional baseball contract. I took that same mindset into my professional career and never put limitations on any goals. Ultimately, I am very motivated to give back to the community and to share what the game of baseball and what sports has done for me. Coaching, focusing on behaviours, competencies, and keeping athletes/ players motivated is a priority. As such, I am currently in the preliminary stages of creating a non-profit: IGNITE CHANGE. The main activity will be running clinics focused on playing baseball the right way, but with a component on leadership, attitude, and behaviors. It elaborates on ideas from Schea Cotton’s basketball camp and Chris Herren’s basketball camp, both truly amazing individuals who have overcome personal struggles to make a difference in their communities and beyond. This exciting new development will help me to support the baseball community even more and provide valuable services where they are most needed.

Since my days of competing at the collegiate and professional level are behind me, I now have the opportunity to teach the game through coaching, clinics, and my writing. Through the GM’s Perspective, I want to enlighten my readers with my articles, give back to the community with my lifetime knowledge of the game, and continue to grow my audience
