Urb Infrastructure = is an attempt to amalgamate essential structural parameters of current and future design disciplines. World’s mega cities constantly experience impressive fluctuations. Their political, economic order create dramatic shifts within Earth’s ecosystem jeopardizing our existence and those of other animal/plant species. Developing nations now follow unsustainable practices, thus a comprehensive global measure is now more difficult to attain. Who is to blame? Only ourselves but until when? It is time to engage what for decades we have avoided of which now is the inevitable and all lies within the Urban, the Social, and their Infrastructural characteristics. My progressive learning from one of the impoverished precincts of Caracas along the diverse academic and international professional engagement have given me the capacity and tenacity to actively engage this critical issue but above all to entice others to follow.

The fundamentals of being who we are, of having, and of doing, are intertwined and manifested within the senses, as well manifested in: Urban Design [built environment tangible and intangible parameters] = Architecture [composition/ style/ construction] + hard/soft Infrastructure [framework/ support] < material : senses : logic >

• • • • • • • • •

Identity - places of belonging to (everyday settings); Affection - privacy/intimacy (places of togetherness); Freedom - anywhere; Protection - social environment, dwelling; Creation - spaces for expression (workshops, audiences); Subsistence - living environment, social settings; Participation - associations, parties, churches, neighborhoods; Leisure - landscapes, intimate spaces, places to be alone; Understanding - schools, families, universities, and communities.

Tectonic_Ambiance Harmony within presence - stability follows harmony – comfort follows spatial gratitude. Spatial approach and quality must satisfy the human ability to enhance its sense of state: presence within its surroundings. The correlation of elements that connects exterior and interior; and events that let us encounter our tectonic ambiance. Harmony between the sculptor and its chisel; between the painter and its brush, between the master and its discipline, between cultures; between the man and nature; harmony of living life. The interaction of form and function are the essential roots that let us experience different fusion of emotions correlating physical characteristics with the landscape (site), particular culture(s), and its purpose in order to attain harmony within presence. - tectonic: the science of construction both in relation to materiality, use, and aesthetic - ambiance: pervading atmosphere surroundings, as spreads through every part environment

The Com-Arts project re-imagines the conventional way that artist’s live, work, and show their art by restructuring the physical and programmatic boundaries present in the building. Reducing the temporal living space of individual units for residents to “live small” results in more space allotted for artists to work in, and show their skills. The combination of private, communal, and public spaces encourages a dialogue between the residents and surrounding neighborhood and fosters a strong community.
