WHAT IS THE LEVEL 3 ADVANCED BEAUTY THERAPY APPRENTICESHIP?

The Level 3 Advanced Beauty Therapy apprenticeship, which Kleek Apprenticeships is now providing, was developed to offer apprentices the opportunity to learn advanced beauty therapy skills as well as business skills. This in turn offers salons more specialised therapists and opens more career opportunities for the apprentice.

WHO IS THE ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP SUITABLE FOR?

Apprentices want to develop their skills to be more specialised and focussed professionals who can work without supervision, managing themselves and others when required. They provide a highquality service, whilst working to the highest standards and continuously developing their personal and professional skills.

WHAT SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURS WILL AN APPRENTICE LEARN?

The Level 3 Advanced Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship covers all the core knowledge and skills needed to create, implement, and adapt tailored beauty experiences. These skills include:

• Anatomy & Physiology

• Body Electrical Treatments

• Facial Electrical Treatments

• Holistic and Indian head massage

• In depth consultation and lifestyle analysis

• Swedish Massage, advanced massage skills such as deep tissue and lymphatic drainage.

• Business related skills

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?

The apprentice will gather a portfolio of evidence which will cover all the knowledge, skill, and behaviour requirements of the apprenticeship. The evidence will be made up of a variety of mediums includingcase studies, photos, videos, and witness testimonies which showcase your best work. This evidence is then submitted to the end point assessment organisation ready to be reviewed and used during the End Point assessment.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE END POINT ASSESSMENT?

The knowledge test will be graded a fail/pass. To achieve a pass in the knowledge test the apprentice must achieve 31/44 correct answers (70%) to pass the assessment.

Practical observation and questioning – 3 treatments

• One manual full body massage treatment, demonstrating how to apply and adapt the treatment to meet the needs of the client.

• One body treatment demonstrating the use of two electrical treatments, which are chosen to suit the needs of the client.

• One Facial treatment demonstrating the use of two electrical treatments, which are chosen to suit the needs of the client.

Professional discussion – A 45-minute discussion with a minimum of 8 questions using the portfolio of evidence and focussing on the themes and topics of the apprenticeship such as sales, working relationships, Health and safety, and CPD activities.

Technology demonstration - In this element the apprentice will be able to show their knowledge and understanding of the face and body technical equipment they have been using. The apprenticeship assessor will ask a minimum of 11 scenariobased questions. The apprentice will demonstrate when and why they would use the technical therapy (electrical or mechanical equipment) techniques/current types during a treatment including:

• Safety checks

• Indicators for the technical therapy (electrical or mechanical) equipment

• Settings

• Timings

• What product they would use with each technology and why
