Also on April 30 was the 12th annual Run to Remember 5K, held by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, which is a not-for-profit organization striving to honor the lives of U.S. fallen heroes. The race took place on the lakefront in the city, and more than 5,000 citizens, police officers and families were expected to participate. Over 5,000 runners participated in the eighth annual Illinois Marathon and Half Marathon on April 30 in Champaign. The fl at course tends to be popular among racers, and the finish line inside the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Memorial Stadium is exhilarating.
