Go Kennebunks 2017-2018

Rainy Day Fun Network’s “Rewrapped?” Or that Chef Rebecca Charles of the new restaurant Pearl owns the wildly popular Pearl Oyster Bar in NYC? You can find all these chefs and more, as well as acclaimed restaurants galore, here in the Kennebunks. Knock down some pins. Come fall 2017, you can do just that – and grab a cocktail and a bite to eat – at the new Garden Street Bowl in Kennebunk. Grab a show at Vinegar Hill, formerly the Arundel Barn Playhouse, which features musical acts throughout the summer and fall. You can also catch a play at the historic Ogunquit Playhouse, down the road in Ogunquit, with Broadwayquality productions throughout the summer and fall. Catch some quiet time at one of our two libraries – Kennebunk Free Library in downtown Kennebunk and the Louis T. Graves Library just up from Dock Square – where you’ll find books on local history, magazines and children’s programming and events.

Do a gallery tour. The Kennebunks abound with all types of art, from moveable sculptures to colorful kaleidoscopes to breathtaking paintings. Rainy days are the perfect time to do some browsing and maybe find that perfect piece of art to take home. Embrace the rain! Sure, you could go catch a movie (there are theaters in Wells, Biddeford, Sanford and Saco), but why not throw on some rain gear and go for a walk? Believe it or not, the beach is still beautiful in the rain (and a lot emptier!), as are our village centers. Don’t feel like getting wet? Hop in the car and take the road less traveled. Go down to Cape Porpoise and look out toward Goat Island. Drive out to Arundel or West Kennebunk and take in some of the bucolic scenery. Whatever you do, don’t let a little rain spoil your time in Maine!
