The Love Your Melon Crew Program Love Your Melon began in 2012 with the simple idea of putting a hat on every child battling cancer in America. In 2014, Love Your Melon embarked on two nationwide tours to spread the mission from coast to coast. After meeting individuals at college campuses all over the country who wanted to get involved, Love Your Melon launched the Campus Crew Program. The Campus Crew program began in 2015 with the goal of creating a personal approach to improving the lives of children battling cancer. Campus Crew Members visit children and families in hospitals, support facilities and special events to create therapeutic experiences and have a positive impact on their lives during and after treatment. Over the last four years, the Campus Crew Program has seen more than 18,000 students at over 850 colleges and universities join the Love Your Melon Fund mission. Fifty percent (50%) of net profit from the sale of all Love Your Melon products is given to support charitable programming through the Love Your Melon Fund and the nonprofits we support. Since 2012, we've given $6,214,565 and 173,582 beanies. The Love Your Melon Fund is powered by The Tides Center to maximize impact in the lives of children battling cancer. Tides accelerates the pace of social change, working with innovative partners to solve society’s toughest problems. The nonprofits that we support fight pediatric cancer through research, therapeutic experiences, and programming initiatives for children battling cancer and their families. The Crew Program continues to grow and evolve, finding innovative and incredible ways to make a difference for children battling cancer. Be a part of making the largest impact we can.

The Love Your Melon Fund Fifty percent (50%) of net profit from the sale of all Love Your Melon products is given to support charitable programming through the Love Your Melon Fund and the nonprofits we support. Since 2012, we've given $6,214,565 and 173,582 beanies. The Love Your Melon Fund is powered by The Tides Center to maximize impact in the lives of children battling cancer. Tides is a philanthropic partner and nonprofit accelerator dedicated to building a world of shared prosperity and social justice. The Love Your Melon Fund, supported by Love Your Melon Inc, is fiscally sponsored by the Tides Center. The Love Your Melon Fund operates as a social venture under Tides’ 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and benefits from their extensive tools, services, and expertise in the nonprofit field. This allows the Love Your Melon Fund to focus on its mission. The nonprofits that we support fight against pediatric cancer, create therapeutic experiences, and fund programming initiatives for children battling cancer and their families.

The Goal To create a community of like-minded individuals who educate, support and create an impact in the fight against pediatric cancer.

The Impact Fifty percent (50%) of profit from the sale of all Love Your Melon products is given to the Love Your Melon Fund to support nonprofits who work in the field of pediatric oncology, fund cancer research initiatives and provide direct financial support for families of children battling cancer.

Important Updates •

We are all one. This year, we will have a Campus Crew Coordinator instead of Regional Managers.

Each Crew has three leadership positions; Crew Captain, Vice Captain, Public Relations Manager.

Each Crew will consist of 10 - 20 Members.

We will have four main challenges; Crew, Educate, Support, Create.

Within each challenge, there are four Stages you must complete to move on to the next level.

Each Crew needs to complete the four Stages in Level 1 prior to any type of donation event.

General Guidelines As you are establishing your Crew it is important that your Crew and Crew Captain adhere to the following general guidelines to make sure your Crew is creating the largest impact. •

Fundraising and monetary donations are not allowed by Crew Members.

Participation in the Love Your Melon Fund is considered volunteering and hours can be used for school and work as stated in the Volunteer Agreement.

All Crew Members will need to sign and agree to the Volunteer Agreement before participating in any Crew activities - Crew Captains and Vice Captains will also need to sign an additional agreement.

The Love Your Melon Fund has the right to terminate the volunteer relationship at any time.

Crews should focus on the Love Your Melon Fund mission - Crews should not promote the sale of Love Your Melon products and are not required to purchase any Love Your Melon products to participate in the Crew Program.

Only registered Crew Members (those volunteers who are registered on Crew Cave and have signed the formal Volunteer Agreement) may volunteer at The Love Your Melon Fund events and attend events where child participants are present.

You must be 18 years of age or older to be on a Crew.

Do not contact staff of hospitals, support facilities or partner organizations unless directed to do so.

Behave in a professional manner and be mindful that as a participant of the Campus Crew Program, your words and actions represent the Love Your Melon Fund.

The Love Your Melon Fund is committed to providing a safe and welcoming work environment, free of unlawful harassment, for all volunteers and participants - The Love Your Melon Fund takes these matter seriously and has the right to take appropriate action to maintain a community free of any form of harassment.

Communication Channels CAMPUS CREW FACEBOOK GROUP This is where Crews will receive fun updates, collaborate with other Crews and share stories of their impact. Everyone needs to request access to join.

CREW CAVE Here, Crews can access Crew Program information, view Challenges and Levels, learn about nonprofit partners, submit forms and see where your Crew stands.

CREW CAPTAIN Your Crew Captain is your best resource for answering any questions regarding your Campus Crew or the Campus Crew Program.

CAMPUS CREW PROGRAM COORDINATOR The Campus Crew Coordinator will be the Crew Captain’s main line of communication. They will be the best resource for answering questions the Crew Captain may have.

CAMPUS CREW PROGRAM MANAGER The Campus Crew Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Crew Program across the nation.

Crew Setup Crew Organization As the Campus Crew Program continues to evolve and grow, use the following leadership structure to properly and efficiently run your Crew. As your Crew grows and your Crew Members become more familiar with the mission and challenge structure, leaders can delegate tasks to other Crew Members as they see fit. Elected Crew Leadership Members are in charge of the organizational upkeep and have control over the details and the continued success of the Crew.

Crew Captain The Crew Captain is the Crew Member in charge of the Campus Crew and communication with the Campus Crew Program Coordinator and the Campus Crew Program Manager. Responsibilities •

Set a positive example of how Crew Members should conduct themselves and represent the Love Your Melon Fund.

Oversee and carry out all on-campus events and lead bi-weekly meetings.

Submit forms for Levels and Challenges once they are completed.

Share updates from Love Your Melon headquarters with the Crew.

Communicate with the Campus Crew Coordinator and the Campus Crew Manager for general information and Crew changes.

Submit all forms for any event and receive approval.

Ensure all Crew Members complete and adhere to the Love Your Melon Fund Volunteer Agreement.

Ensure that all Love Your Melon Fund Crew Members on their Crew only visit or interact with child participants and their family members within formal Crew Events.

Keep an active list of Crew Members and ensure any new Crew Members follow proper channels (including registering on Crew Cave and completing the Volunteer Agreement). This Crew Member list must also include emergency contact information for all Crew Members.

Either the Captain or Vice-Captain, whoever is present at the event, must have the aforementioned list with them in case of an emergency.

Vice Crew Captain The Vice Crew Captain will assist the Crew Captain in Events, Challenge System and communication with the Crew. Vice Crew Captains will be required to be a year younger if the Crew Captain is graduating in 2020. Responsibilities •

Set a positive example of how Crew Members should conduct themselves and represent the Love Your Melon Fund.

Assist the Crew Captain in planning and carrying out Crew Donation Events and Promotional Events.

Set bi-weekly goals for the Crew.

Assist in the creative strategy to complete each level.

Either the Captain or Vice-Captain, whoever is present at the event, must have the aforementioned list with them in case of an emergency.

Public Relations Manager The Public Relations Manager is the Crew Member in charge of managing all public communications, coordination of photo and video content, and social media accounts for the Crew. Responsibilities •

Adhere to the new social media policies and communicate the changes to all Crew Members.

Oversee all Crew-specific social media accounts.

Coordinate and capture new content for social media posts.

Work with the Crew Captain and Vice Captain for promotion of any in-person events.

Capture photos and videos during Giving and Promotional Events; if no one on your Crew can capture high quality pictures, you must reach out and find someone who can.

Confirm all content posted on social media is appropriate and does not infringe on copyrights or trademarks.

General Crew Member All Crew Members not holding a Leadership Position. Responsibilities •

Spread the Love Your Melon Fund mission on your campus and in your community.

Maintain a positive representation of the Love Your Melon Fund.

Attend the Crew Promotional and Giving Events.

Work with the Crew Members to continue growing and evolving as a Crew.

Make a positive impact on any child you have the chance to interact with.

Help your Crew educate, support and create a lasting impact.

First Steps to Setting Up Your Crew Before your Crew begins completing levels, earning challenges, going on Hospital Visits and impacting your community, the Crew Captain will need to complete the following: 1.

If you don’t already have a Crew Captain, please elect a Crew Captain and have them register themselves as Captain on Crew Cave.

2.

Confirm the Crew is active by having the Captain complete the necessary video webinar and take the quiz.

3.

Crew Captains must complete a full criminal background check and submit all needed Crew Captain agreement forms.

4.

All members must fill out and submit the necessary volunteer agreement.

5.

Recruit a minimum of 10 members and have them all sign up on Crew Cave.

6.

After you have all Crew Member agreements submitted make sure all members have been added to the Crew Program Facebook group.

7.

Once you have 10+ Crew Members on Crew Cave, all of your Crew Member agreements are in, your Crew can submit for the Starter Kit.

8.

You are now an established Crew and can begin completing Level 1.

Establishing Your Crew FAQ How do we vote in new leadership? We suggest that the Crew elects new Leadership anonymously. It is up to the Crew Leadership to decide what voting practice will be best for you and your Crew. How many active crew members can we have? Crews should have no less than 10 people and no more than 20 people. We suggest that if you have more than 20 Crew Members you do not add any additional members if a Crew Member steps down or graduates. What happens if our crew has a conflict? If you encounter a conflict within the Crew that requires mediation, contact your Campus Crew Coordinator or Campus Crew Manager. Can our crew become a club on campus? The Love Your Melon Fund, powered by Tides, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which may help the Crew become a recognized organization on your campus. For more information, please contact the Campus Crew Coordinator. Regardless of status, the Crew may not accept donations.

Form Submissions When submitting a form, it is important to follow all the steps necessary. For any event, from tabling events to Superhero Adventures, one Overview Form and a Feedback Form must be submitted and approved by the Campus Crew Coordinator. This will be the Crew Captain’s responsibility to make sure all information is submitted.

Public Relations Manager Please have the Public Relations Manager review the following information and update your Crew’s social media accounts accordingly.

General Guidelines Crews should focus their social media around the Love Your Melon Fund mission and showcase all the amazing things they are doing! Crews are not allowed to promote the sale of Love Your Melon products. Instead, Crews should bring awareness to the ways that the Fund gives to the fight against pediatric cancer through the nonprofits we support, Love Your Melon Fund initiatives and Giving Events. The Public Relations Manager will be responsible for posting on social media accounts and ensuring the Crew’s social media accounts follow the social media standards.

Uploading Guidelines We love sharing your incredible stories of Superheroes and crews! We appreciate all the amazing work and events put on by the Campus Crews and want to highlight as much as possible. In order to do this, we need to ensure that high-quality content and written descriptions of your events are documented following the examples below. These guidelines also permit us to repost your photos on the @loveyourmelon Instagram.

Upload Requirements Voice: When posting, we want to ensure that the story is told in an inspiring, engaging and compassionate manner when highlighting the Superhero Adventure, Giving Event, or Hospital Visit. Your Crew’s Content: We love featuring the amazing events you put on! The more complete each submission is, the more likely it will be featured on the corporate Love Your Melon social media accounts. Capturing the Moment For any photos taken involving a child, you must have a photo release form signed by a parent or guardian. These can be found on Crew Cave under “forms.� 1. Keep your photos simple. Especially while taking photos of people, a simple background is best. Solid walls, simple scenes or blurry backgrounds from portrait mode work great. If photos are at a hospital event, there is usually a lot going on in the background - don't be afraid to take photos closer up to capture special moments. Having both far away and close up photos show great variety during any event or shoot. Ensure you have permission to take photos in any situation prior to doing so. 2. Good lighting is key. If you are taking photos outside, overcast and cloudy days are best for even lighting and no harsh shadows. Very sunny days usually result in over exposure (too bright of highlights), harsh shadows on faces and people squinting from the brightness. Shoot against the sun if this is the case, or find a shady area. If you are indoors, taking photos by window lighting is ideal so it isn't too dark. Here, it is best to shoot with the light and not against it, so take photos from the same area as the windows and not back-lit against the window light. 3. Tell the story of the day. This is especially important while attending a Superhero Adventure or Hospital Event. Try to capture the details that will show the viewers the story of the day and all of the fun adventures. 4. Capture the details. If you are at an event, don't forget to capture the awesome decorations, volunteers, activities and adventures. We especially love to capture moments of children wearing Love Your Melon beanies. If it is a crew shoot, group photos are fun and powerful, but don't forget to take smaller groups or even individuals as well. Variety is key to getting all of the details! 5. Have fun with it. No matter where you are taking photos, make sure to introduce yourself so everyone will be more comfortable. It will be more fun and casual for you to capture great photos!

Becoming a SuperCrew Leveling Up This year, your Crew will work together to complete each Level and become a SuperCrew! Each Challenge represents a way that your Crew can make a positive impact within your Crew, on your campus, in the community and most importantly in the fight against pediatric cancer! Once your Crew completes each Level, you will unlock new prizes and new levels. You must complete all four Stages of Level 1 in order to move on to Level 2. This year’s Level system will create unity within the Crews, educate your peers and make a large impact. Complete all four Levels in all four Challenges and you will become a SuperCrew! Leveling Up within the Challenges Once you are established as a Crew, you will begin the four Stages of Level 1. There is no specific order in which you need to complete each stage within a level. Once each Stage has been completed within Level 1, you will unlock Level 2.

Level Reminders •

All Stages of Level 1 must be completed before having the opportunity to go on any hospital visit.

Level submissions will be reviewed weekly for approval by the Campus Crew Coordinator.

You can track what level you are on and what Stages you have completed on Crew Cave under the Leaderboard Tab.

Completing all Stages of one Level will allow you to earn the materials needed for the next Level and gear for your Crew. With each Level you complete, the bigger the impact your Crew will have and the closer you will be to becoming a SuperCrew.

LEVEL 1 REWARD: CREW PACK Supplies and materials for your Crew to represent the Love Your Melon Fund.

SUPERCREW After completing all four Levels, your Crew will become a SuperCrew! This allows you to create small donation events for the children you continue to meet and each Crew Member will receive a Monthly Melon Club Membership for a Year beginning June 1st, 2020.

Capture your Crew Crew Photoshoot Your Crew must hold a photoshoot that will capture a photo of every Crew Member, multiple group shots, and a photo with an iconic landmark in your town or on your campus. Once complete, submit all photos on Crew Cave.

Build your Crew Crew Bonding Your Crew must host 2 bonding events at least one week apart. 75% attendance is needed to be approved. Photo or video proof will be required when submitting.

Expand your Crew Get to Know Another Crew Your Crew will spend a month getting to know another Crew out of state. You must communicate at least once a week, and at the end of the month share their story and what you learned about that Crew. Another Crew must be at this level before you may begin.

Go Beyond your Crew Start Another Crew Help start a crew in the areas in which we need more support for our hospitals. As a Crew, you will work together to communicate with other college students to explain the Crew Program and the positive impact it has in order to help their school start a Love Your Melon Crew. The areas you will be focusing on will be provided by the Campus Crew Coordinator on the Crew Cave.

Educate your Crew Take a Quiz All Crew Members must read through the Campus Crew Binder, watch our mission video and take the Campus Crew Quiz. All Crew members must get 100% before you can pass this Level.

Educate your Community Speak to High School & College Classes Your Crew must educate and speak about pediatric cancer and our mission to five high school or college classes. At least 20 people must be in class. Photo proof will be needed for level submission.

Educate our Partnerships Tabling Your Crew will table for two of the nonprofits we support to educate individuals on campus or in your community. Each table will be for a different nonprofit. All current nonprofits and information will be posted on Crew Cave.

Educate our Impact Large Scale Campaign Get your Crew together and come up with a way to host a large scale campaign or event that relates to pediatric cancer, our mission and the nonprofits we support. Photos, videos and a description will be needed for this submission.

Support your Network DMKS Host a swab drive with DKMS. Your Crew will need to get at least 100 swabs. If you don’t reach 100 swabs in one event, your Crew can host another swab drive.

Support your Community Alex’s Lemonade Stand Pair up with a kid or superhero in your community to help them put on a lemonade stand. The child will be raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Your job is to support them, drive awareness and bring people to the lemonade stand.

Support our Partnerships Team Up with Another Organization Get your Crew together to work with 2 different organizations on campus to hold an event that is pediatric cancer related. This can be anything you can think of, the more creative the better. No monetary donations can be accepted on behalf of the Love Your Melon Fund.

Support our Impact DMKS Host a swab drive with DKMS. Your Crew will need to get at least 1,000 swabs. If you don’t reach 1,000 swabs in one event, your Crew can host multiple swab drives.

Create a Smile Giving Back Pay it forward in your community! It’s time to make your community smile. Think of a creative way to do so. Capture it on video or in photos for submission.

Create your Community Make a Difference Crew Members need to get 100 people together to make a difference. This can be anything that involves making a difference on campus, in your community or in the pediatric cancer world.

Create your Partnerships Ronald McDonald House Charities Dinner or Drive Host a dinner or drive for your local RMHC. You will be given between $250 - $500 on your Bento Card depending on the size of the RMHC nearest to your Crew.

Create your Impact Superhero Adventure Your Crew will host a Superhero Adventure for a kid who has not received one previously.

Giving Event Information Event Etiquette Campus Crew Members will have a number of opportunities to host and attend a variety of events. Some events may be set up through a nonprofit we support, while other events are hosted by the Crew. In addition to nonprofit and Crew Giving Events, Crew Members visit children and families in hospitals, Ronald McDonald Houses and support facilities to create therapeutic experiences and have a positive impact in children’s lives during and after treatment. Proper etiquette is very important when hosting or attending an event with a children battling cancer and their families. When you are interacting with a child and his/her family during any type of event, it is important to be extremely sensitive and respectful. Depending on a child’s condition, they may or may not be able to play with you, talk with you, etc. The staff or family members will notify you of any restrictions to keep in mind. Children battling serious illnesses want to be treated the same. Do the best you can to make them feel normal. We understand that it can be difficult to know what to say in these situations but remember start off basic with dayto-day life questions such as “What is your name?” “How old are you?” “What’s your favorite game, TV show, animal, book, etc?” Reminder, before hosting any events, you must submit proper event forms and they must be approved before continuing on with your event planning. If you have more questions or concerns please reach out to Campus Crew Coordinator and they will happily guide you to make sure you have a successful Giving Event.

Event Etiquette •

Only registered Crew Members (those volunteers who are registered on the Crew Cave and have signed the formal Volunteer Agreement) may volunteer at Superhero or Small Giving Events.

Either the Captain or Vice-Captain must be present at all events and for the entire duration of the event.

If your Crew Event involves transportation of a child participant and/or their family members, you must use a hired vehicle. This means that you must contract with a professional service that can provide a certificate of insurance, demonstrating that the hired vehicle service has sufficient insurance.

All child participants must be with a Guardian at all times.

No Crew Member should ever be alone with a child as part of their volunteer work with the Love Your Melon Fund.

No child participants may use sharp or dangerous objects, including knives, scissors and or hot glue guns.

No Superhero or Small Giving Events may take place near bodies of water (pool, ocean, lake, etc.) or involve anything to do with fire.

Awareness Events The Crew hosts Awareness Events on campus and in your community to increase awareness of the Love Your Melon Fund and the incredible work your Crew is doing.

DKMS Events The Crew hosts DKMS events and encourages attendees to learn more about joining the registry and participating in swabbing if they are ready to join.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Dinners & Drives The Crew plans and carries out a dinner or drive for families undergoing the difficult cancer treatment process.

Hospital Events Crew Members visit a hospital to make a positive impact on a group of children who need encouragement.

Setting Up 1.

Once you have a plan to table, submit the needed Overview Form.

Before the event, the Crew Captain may want to give each Crew Member attending a specific role so they know what they are responsible for.

Arrange the Crew’s informational displays, awareness materials and any additional items the Crew wants to reference or give away on the table in an organized way.

Prior to the Crew’s in-person Awareness Event it is important that you confirm who will be attending and that all materials are secured for the event. The Crew Captain will confirm this.

Setting Up Getting your peers on campus to swab and fill out a registration form is a simple, yet powerful way to create an impact across the country. •

Secure a space on campus to host an event

Log on to ureact.org/loveyourmelon and complete a Drive Request form

The Crew will be put in contact with a Drive Coach who is dedicated to assisting you in setting up your drive

Your Drive Coach will be your main point of contact to receive all materials and information

Day of the Event Please remind your Crew Members that the objective is to add committed, well-informed members to the registry. Your Drive Coach will be able to help guide you so you have all the needed information. It is the responsibility of the Crew Members to ensure that all standard operating procedures are followed at the event to conceal confidential information and create a positive experience for those who attend.

After the Event Follow the instructions from your Drive Coach to return all used and unused drive materials. This is very important to do this right away. Please be sure after the event your Crew Captain submits the proper Feedback Form. This can be found on Crew Cave under “forms.”

Setting Up Each Ronald McDonald House is different in how they schedule events. The Crew Captain or Vice Crew Captain will be in charge of signing up for a RMHC Dinner or planning the Drive. If the Crew is hosting a dinner, each Crew Member attending the Event must complete the Dinner Event Prep. Before hosting a RMHC Dinner, please be sure to submit an Overview form. Suggested materials: •

Dinner materials

The Crew should plan out the meal and create a shopping list prior to the event. If directly requested by the onsite contact, the Crews should send an outline of the meal being provided one week prior to the scheduled dinner. Generally, Houses suggest a main dish, side dish, salad or vegetables, fruit, bread/rolls and dessert. The House will provide kitchen utensils and necessities but the Crew is responsible for bringing ALL ingredients. Please note, food must be store bought, pre-packaged and premade.

Day of the Event Upon arriving, the Crew should check in and the on-site contact will show the Crew to the kitchen. •

Prepare the meal and serve at the discretion of the on-site contact

If you plan to interact with the families and engage in an activity, be sure to have the activity approved by the on-site coordinator

Clean up after the designated meal time has ended

Pack up and put away all food that is leftover

Wash all dishes you may have used and leave the kitchen the way you found it

Setting Up Crew Members should read the Hospital Visit Guidelines and will need to to pass the Hospital Visit quiz before going on a visit. This is a great agenda item for one of your first Crew meetings. Your Crew also needs to complete all of Level 1 before being eligible to go on a hospital visit. Hospital signup process: •

Upon completion of all of Level 1 your Crew will become eligible to attend a Hospital Visit

Crew members must take the hospital visit quiz

Hospital Visits will be posted on Crew Cave and an email will be sent out to the local Crew who was assigned to the visit

A Crew Captain or Vice Crew Captain must attend each Hospital Visit

Once assigned a hospital visit, your Crew Captain or Vice Crew Captain for the event must fill out the needed Hospital Overview Form

Things to remember while setting up a hospital visit: •

Some hospitals allow more visits than others and some cities have more than one hospital - not every Crew or Crew Member will go on the same amount of visits

Each visit will have a Hospital Visit Lead - this will be either a Crew Captain or Vice Crew Captain who will communicate with the Campus Crew Manager and Coordinator, bring the beanies to the event, and be required to be present throughout the visit

No Crew Member should ever be alone with a child during a hospital visit

If you sign up for a visit and can no longer go you must let your hospital lead know 48 hours ahead of time so they can find a replacement

If you cancel within 24 hours of your visit without a valid reason, you will not be allowed on any other Hospital Visits

You must let the Crew Campus coordinator know 72 hours prior to an event if you have not received the beanies for the visit

Day of Event •

Your hospital lead must make sure they have all the necessary supplies and photo release forms

Arrive at least 20 minutes early

Please wear black/gray/white pants, a black/gray/white long sleeve with a LYM costume and a LYM beanie

Be respectful and always remember you are not only representing, your Crew you are representing the Love Your Melon Fund

Setting Up Finding a child is the first step. Ask Crew Members, friends and family members to see if they know a child battling cancer in your community or nearby. If you are having trouble finding a family, please contact the Campus Crew Coordinator. Once you find a family: •

Connect with the family and explain the Love Your Melon Fund Mission and what a Superhero Adventure is

Talk to the family about the child's interest, what they like and don't like so you can begin to plan accordingly

Once you have an idea for the Superhero Adventure, connect withto connect with the family and set up a date and time

Sponsorships Campus Crews can accept non-monetary donations in the form of sponsorships for kids for adventures. Sponsorships include, but are not limited to: •

Grocery store providing food for an event

A car company providing limo services for a child and their family

A sports team donating tickets

After all of the planning is done please fill out the corresponding Overview Form.

Day of Event Crews are encouraged to provide activities or games to make each experience fun and unique. During the Superhero Adventure, the Crew will devote their full attention to a child and family to create an unforgettable experience. Forward planning is key to making sure the Crew can bring your Adventure to life, but being prepared to adjust based on unforeseen complications during the event is very important. FAQs Crew FAQs These are common questions asked by many Crew Members and the general public. Please read the following FAQs thoroughly in order to clear up any questions you may have. What is the difference between Love Your Melon and The Love Your Melon Fund? These entities are entirely separate and run by different teams. Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer. Fifty percent (50%) of profit from the sale of all Love Your Melon products is given to the Love Your Melon Fund. The Love Your Melon Fund is powered by Tides to maximize our impact in the lives of children battling cancer. Fifty percent (50%) of profit from the sale of all Love Your Melon products is given to the Love Your Melon Fund to support nonprofits, create therapeutic experiences and fund charitable programming initiatives. The nonprofits we support work in the field of pediatric oncology and provide direct support for families of children battling cancer. Who are the nonprofits we work with? The most up-to-date information about our nonprofits we support can be found on the Love Your Melon website at loveyourmelon.com/pages/giving. How can I figure out how much the Love Your Melon Fund as given? Please refer to the Love Your Melon website for current information on how much has been given to each one of the nonprofits we support and the work the Love Your Melon Fund is doing. How can my Crew get a sponsorship? Campus Crews can accept non-monetary donations in the form of sponsorships so long as the Crew provides the EIN Number to the businesses or organizations donating. The EIN Number to provide is 94-3213100. As a reminder, Campus Crews and individual members are not allowed to accept monetary donations for the Fund or our nonprofit partners. In the past, organizations and local businesses have sponsored parties, limo/car services and more. Some companies may require a letter for sponsorship, outlining our program and the Crew’s event on Love Your Melon Fund letterhead. If this is the case, head to Crew Cave under files to find the 501(c)(3) forms. How do I access the Crew Cave? Visit crewcave.com. To enter the site, please create an account. Why haven’t I been accepted into the Crew Cave? The Crew Cave requests will be completed within 72 hours from the time you request access.

How quickly should I expect a response from the Campus Crew Program Manager or the Campus Crew Program Coordinator? The Campus Crew Program Manager and the Campus Crew Coordinator are very busy managing the Crew Program all over the country. Make sure you have searched for the answer to your question in the Crew Binder, the Crew Cave and on the Campus Crew Facebook page before you send an email. You should expect to hear back within one week. When will Power Up winners be announced? We will release the winners of Power Ups within a week of the Power Up deadline, unless otherwise noted. If we complete one Challenge Level, do we automatically win a Level reward? No. Crews must earn all four of the same Levels before winning a Level Reward. For example you can not move on to Level 2 until you have completed all of Level 2 in Challenge Crew, Educate, Support and Create. If we earned all four of the same Level, do we automatically get to go on a giving event? No. By earning Levels you will earn one of the four Rewards: Crew Pack, Crews become eligible for a hospital event, Beanies, Crew T-shirts and Limited Edition Costumes. Rewards will work like the following: Level 1 = Crew Pack Level 2 = Crew Beanies Level 3 = Crew T-shirts Level 4 = A Limited Edition Costume SuperCrew = Small Donation Events and a Monthly Melon Club Membership for each Crew Member When do we get to go on a hospital event? To maximize our impact, Hospital Visits will be happening more frequently. The Campus Crew Manager will post all Hospital Visits on the Crew Cave. Crews will be assigned on hospital visits. Remember your Crew must complete all of Level One before being eligible to go on a Hospital Visit. Do Crew Captains still pick who goes on a hospital visit? Yes! Crews will be assigned on a hospital visit and the Crew Captain will be responsible to make sure all spots are filled. Remember a Crew Captain or Vice Captain must be on every hospital visit. Do we get reimbursed for money we spent on giving events? No. The Crew has the power to host an incredible event without needing to spend money. However, as the Crew earns Levels, the Crew will receive creative materials and financial support in the form of a prepaid card to plan and carry out events. Unless it is explicitly included in a Giving Event achievement, the Crew will not be reimbursed for additional expenses incurred.

Crew FAQs (Continued) Does the Crew Captain have to be on every giving event? A Crew Captain or Vice Crew Captain must be in attendance at event giving event. I am graduating from my undergraduate college. Can I still be a part of the Campus Crew afterward? No. This allows new Crew Members the chance to be a part of the Crew. The work you have done has made an incredible impact and we are so grateful for everything you have given to the Love Your Melon Fund mission. We hope that you will continue to spread the mission in the future and be a part of the story, but you may no longer be a part of the Campus Crew. One of our leadership members has stepped down or is graduating. How do we select a new leadership member? We suggest you vote anonymously. This can be done through an online survey or at a bi-weekly meeting. We also suggest you allow those who would like to take on a Leadership role within the Crew the opportunity to speak prior to the voting process about how they would impact the Crew. Other crew members received rewards before I joined the Crew. Do I still get those as well? If you joined after the Crew received gear, you will most likely not receive this as well. If the Crew was not full prior to you joining, you should receive any extra gear that the Crew has. Can I use my crew position as class credit? Yes. Because Crew Members are considered volunteers, your Campus Crew Coordinator can confirm your involvement with the Love Your Melon Fund and sign any necessary forms. Social Media FAQs What is the goal of posting on social media? To spread the Love Your Melon Fund mission as well as educating and creating a positive impact on their followers and community. Can I use our school logo or the Love Your Melon logo for our profile picture? No. Use a photo that includes a Crew Member or child from a Giving Event or Crew Event for these platforms.

Should we be promoting Love Your Melon products and telling people to buy a beanie? Crews should not promote the purchase of a beanie or any Love Your Melon product on the Crew’s social media page. This page is meant to be for sharing information on the Crew, the nonprofits we support and giving initiatives. Who should be posting on our Campus Crew social media pages? The Public Relations Manager is in charge of this but the Crew Leadership may decide who ultimately will be responsible for posting. The appointed Leader(s) should have the final say on all Campus Crew social media accounts and ensure that anyone posting understands the new social media guidelines. Can you share a story about one of the children our crew has helped? If you have an impactful story that you believe we should share, have the appointed Crew Leader send it to the Campus Crew Coordinator or submit it via Crew Cave. How do I access the Crew Cave mobile app? Visit the Apple Store or Google Play Store and search for ‘Crew Cave.’ You will see an app with the Crew Cave logo and will use the same login that you use for crewcave.com. Why haven’t I been accepted to the main Campus Crew Facebook page? We reference the Crew Member information provided by the Crew Member’s activation on the Crew Cave to approve the request and ensure each individual in the group is a Love Your Melon Crew Member. General FAQs I love what the Love Your Melon Fund does. How can I get more involved? Currently we only have involvement opportunities for college students to act as part of the Campus Crew. If you know someone interested in establishing a Crew on their campus, have them visit the Love Your Melon website to apply. How many hats have been given to children battling cancer? To see the most up-to-date information about our giving initiatives visit loveyourmelon.com/pages/giving. Are you involved in corporate gifting? If you or someone you know is interested in purchasing hats in large quantities please do so via loveyourmelon.com/pages/wholesale. A store has expressed interest in carrying Love Your Melon Product.
