‘figure head’ is a modest, multitude of voices, with the words quietly developing a series of trajectories that reach out to disparate ideologies capital, micropolitics, spatiality, poetics, fiction - in order to explore the figure, the head, the self-defeating decorative from oblique, unfamiliar angles. These texts are threaded together by the tendrils of the ‘maritime metaphor’ - not only of seas, but of the dockyard anachronism; of figureheads; and of the romantic landscape/schaft/skip. Water is the figure in our riparian landscape - as provider, as geography, as poetry, as orgman - it stands beyond the law and we pay homage to its ceremony and strength.
