Hispanic Heritage Month Activities Around Campus
N
ational Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, when people recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the United States and celebrate the group’s heritage and culture. Hispanic Heritage activities featured the country of Costa Rica this year, where ten Kinkaid students will go on a full immersion homestay during Interim Term.
Activities around campus during the month included a delicious Costa Rican breakfast for faculty and staff and a Zumba dance class attended by more than 50 students. The final event was the eighth annual “Mercado Latino” which was coordinated through the continued leadership of our parents Mrs. León, Mrs. Silva and Mrs. Pearlman Morales. This year UNICEF will receive more than two thousand dollars because of the students’ generous participation.
Retired Faculty and Staff Holiday Luncheon A record number of retired faculty and staff attended their annual Holiday Luncheon on December 4. The festive occasion included an update on Kinkaid happenings, greetings from current faculty, and plenty of reminiscing.
