Jane Hoffert Moore ’46 Houston, TX 713-529-9700 On May 24 Jane Hoffert Moore ’46 and Robin Gill Stanford ’46 celebrated 70 years since their high school graduation from Kinkaid. Jane and Robin have known each other since the first grade. They had 11 people in their graduating class and the School was located on Richmond at that time. To celebrate this special milestone and friendship they plan on going to Brennan’s for a jazz brunch this summer. From the Advancement Office: On April 27 Francita Stuart Ulmer ’49 was honored by The Garden Club of America the Zone IX Historic Preservation Award in Little Rock, Arkansas. Francita has been an active member of the Houston Garden Club, the Junior League of Houston, Archives of the American Gardens, the Harris County Historical Commission, the Battleship Texas Commission, the Houston Parks Board, the Alley Theatre and the Houston Symphony. In 2015, Francita was also honored by the Junior League of Houston with the Adelaide Lovett Baker Award, which recognizes a sustaining member of the League who exemplifies such innovation, dedication and leadership by continuing to serve and make a lasting impact through ongoing volunteer work in the Houston community. A big congratulations goes out to Francita – Kinkaid is sure proud of you!

John Hagerman The Woodlands, TX johndhagerman@hotmail.com Sonja Waaser still drives from McAllen to Houston for lunch. Susan Booth Keeton (fs) said that it was so good to make it to Lunch Bunch. Life is still good for her even though she says

she finally feels like a “senior citizen”. Tish Compton Hale (fs) and her husband Tony live in Memorial now. They have two cats at home, and they three grandchildren in college now. Tish recently retired from The Fourteenth Court of Appeals. Tony still practices law part time. Tish says that all is well.

Sassy English Stanton Houston, TX sassy@stanton-pinckard.com

Karen Tellepsen (fs) enjoyed catching up with friends of long standing. She is out of the classroom and enjoys volunteer work. The proposed St. Francis Episcopal High School is her main interest now. She is hopeful it will open in 2018. She says the wonderful foundation from Kinkaid education has always been important to her; remember never end a sentence with a preposition.

Sassy English Stanton and husband Bill Pinckard have been married for 26 years. They have a farm and ranch real estate business. At the recent Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Sassy rode in the World Versatility Reining Cow Horse Competition. Her horse Boon Doc Pepto received 3rd in the Cutting. Sassy’s oldest grandchildren have moved onto middle school this year and are straight A students. She really can’t believe they have grown so fast! Their fathers, Troy Stanton ’89 and Austin Stanton ’92 (fs) both attended Kinkaid as well.

Emmet Crow (fs) also enjoys Lunch Bunch. He is now semi-retired but doing some electrical consulting. He says that his two sons are doing well. His oldest son Doug is living in New Braunfels with his wife Brandi and their two kids Dax (15) and Ellen (14). Dax is a great hunter and Ellen is a good basketball player. Emmet’s youngest son Robert ’91 (fs) lives in Houston with his wife Kimberly and their two daughters Kate (11) and Kirby (9). They’re both great soccer players and attend Rummel Creek School. Emmet says that his lady friend does a fantastic job of helping parents adopt children. Also, Emmet just returned from a wonderful cruise of the Scandinavian countries and St. Petersburg, Russia. His email address is ecrow@crowtime. com. Dianne Asbury Gordan is involved in a book club that occasionally reads great books. A group in the country has a coffee every month mainly just to socialize. Scott Tillinghast is fixing up his townhouse many years after the flood of 2001. His living room is cleared, but he says that it will take some work to have it ready for company. Raine Phillips Roberts (fs) is happy to be living in Bellville, Texas. Raine has two book clubs that she loves and is on the vestry at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She is also playing Bunco – believe it or not! Sally Byrd Ohrstrom lives in Palm Beach, Florida, and is addicted to golf. She and her husband also spend time at their summer home in Newport, Rhode Island. They both love walking their dog along the ocean at both houses. They also love classical music, theater and travel. She said that she was so happy to see all of her friends from our class!

Susan Sneed Barksdale reports that she and husband John ’62 are doing pretty well considering the passing years (going fast!). John is still working and is a great bible study teacher on every 3rd Sunday at 8:30am – standing invitation for all to check it out! I am still enjoying life, my kitchen is still open and we are waiting for our 12th grandchild to arrive this June – six girls and six boys! We are very blessed. So thankful for family and friends! We are still ready to teach the 14 year olds to drive – they keep us young!

Adrian Turner Ross Houston, TX adrian@rexross.com Dear Class of 1962, It is refreshing to know how active many of you are! Your responses indicate that many members of the Class of 1962 are still busy and vibrant. Susan Cooper Gaudet continues tutoring and traveling. One of her most recent trips was to her 50th Reunion at Duke. She stayed with Kinkaid and Duke classmate Lucy Austin. In addition, Susan plans to spend time this summer with Sandra Moffett Provost and her husband, when the Provosts come to their summer home

in Massachusetts. Lucy Austin also mentioned that she and Susan were together for their Duke reunion. Other news from Lucy concerns lots of travelling—to Cuba, Russia and Finland, to mention three interesting locations. Lucy’s daughters have both graduated from college and Lucy is busy helping the older daughter plan her wedding. Judy Wilson Grant and her husband Newell still live in the home where their children grew up in Colorado. She volunteers with the Central City Opera (“not singing”) and the Mesa Verde Foundation as well as the Garden Club of Denver. They have four grandchildren: two in Denver, one in Connecticut and one in Massachusetts. Justin Morrill reports that after three sons and five grandsons, they finally have a granddaughter in the family! Tony Kupersmith (fs) has been gravitating back to Texas after 36 years working in the DC area. He and his wife Beecie spend some of their time at Texas Corinthian Yacht Club in Kemah, Texas and are currently looking for a retirement hideout in the Texas Hill Country. Tony said one of the highlights of our 50th Reunion was renewing the friendship with his neighbor and classmate Toni Walsh Duperier. That leads us into Toni’s report that she and her husband Henry have been travelling with friends and family. They visited children and grandchildren in Georgia and the Carolinas, and will be spending most of the summer in Sequim, Washington. Dorothy Knox Howe Houghton had a great trip with the Houston Seminar to the Yucatan despite the fact that she fell and broke her finger. Dorothy has recently been re-elected president of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Texas. Judy Schudy shared news of George Schudy. He is to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award at his 50th reunion at Denison University. Congratulations, George! I also heard from Gibson Carothers – I will say that he is still creative and fun, and will leave it at that! John Butcher is claiming the “honor” of being the last classmate to receive a first grandchild. Nathan Butcher was born on March 29, 2016. We will see how that record holds up. John is enjoying the good golf weather in Birmingham, Alabama. He recently played in a charity golf tournament with three first-year medical students. John wrote: “Combine their ages and add
