ALUMNI NEWS
his daughter is heading off to USC to study biology. To combat feeling old, he is refusing to grow up as he recently founded an animation studio; that’s cartoons for our generation. So be on the look out for The Beef Sumo Show (web series) and another movie going into production to be named later. Only Mr. Webster will be able to conjugate it appropriately if Robert wins another Distinguished Alumnus (or Alumni) Award! Tom Jordan, Ike Epley ’84 and I ran into Anthea Wills Moran recently; it was like old times she looked at us as if we were up to something no good! Shelley Brazelton Bracken reported she turned 29 in May. I am no math wiz, sorry Mrs. Woodhams and Coach Neiswender, but I think Shelley did that at least once before. Wade Leach and Malek Bohsali have been trying to determine how to do a business deal together. Personally, by the time you read this I have become a grandfather again!
1984 Jackie Fair Houston, Texas jfair36900@aol.com One of the best parts about being class correspondent is hearing from classmates from around the country (and around the world). Lisa Marks Schwarz reports that she has spent the last 20 years in Boston. Currently overseeing fundraising for MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research and teaching hot vinyasa yoga at HYP Studio in Wellesley/Needham/Medfield, Lisa has three daughters. Her eldest is finishing her freshman year at The Pomfret School in Connecticut. She would love to see Kinkaidians passing through or living in Boston. Another classmate who’s been away for way too long, Mimi Killinger, popped into town for a few days last month and was able to get together with a few of our classmates at the new home of Claire Cummins Lorenz. In attendance were Leslie Holland, Ronnie Jacobe and Scott Locher. Scott and his wife Valerie, who lost their young son Brian in March, are thankful for all of the continued support and prayers. They have set up a memorial fund in his honor; if you find it in your heart to support this memorial to Brian Locher, they would be most grateful. Donations can be made by mail to Grace School, 10219 Ella Lee Lane, Houston, Texas 77042, with a notation that it is being sent for Brian’s memorial fund, or by going to the link https://forms.diamondmindinc.com/graceschool/memorialIf you find it in your heart to support this memorial to Brian Locher, we

Classmates Courtnay Tartt Elias ‘84, Shayna Goldstein Andrews ‘84, Jackie Fair ‘84 and Sonya Baker Lloveras ‘84 at the Kinkaid Alumnae & Friends Luncheon
It’s always great to be able to get together with old friends. We had a good showing of class representation at the Alumni Holiday Party: Susan Westmoreland McConkey, Anne Chmielewski Kushwaha, Claire Cummins Lorenz, Tracey Gaedcke Smith, Mallory McKay Callaway, Amanda Justice Robinson and David Lucke all joined the festivities, but we would always love to see more. As usual, the ladies of ’84 were amongst the last to leave. It was also wonderful to see Courtnay Tartt Elias, Shayna Goldstein Andrews, Virginia Mary Thompson Brown and Sonya Baker Lloveras representing the Class of ’84 at the inaugural Kinkaid Alumnae and Friends Luncheon.
1985 Carolyn Lasater Hodges Dripping Springs, Texas carolynhodges@marykay.com Hello Everyone! Paige and Todd Johnson hosted a spectacular 30th Reunion at their home this past Reunion Weekend in April. Wow, it was so much fun seeing everyone among such a beautiful setting (we really missed those who weren’t able to come!) The weather was wonderful as waiters passed appetizers and the bartenders were so attentive to serve your favorite beverages! (Thank God, there were no “club no minor” margaritas!) The band was cranked-up, under a clear tent that was draped with twinkling lights, and couches and cocktail tables were available for lounging and convos on the gold shimmer carpeting. The buffet table was overflowing with yummy foods from Beavers and El Patio. A great effort to attend was made my many, including Eric Graf from Guatemala, Georgy Ann Papadakes Peluchiwski from Chicago, and Heather Heath Grovesner from Memphis! There was a nice representation from the Austin area, including Helen Stovall Gilbert, Lee Albritton, Glenn Lucke, Duncan Burch and Adam Mosier (and myself). Will Winston and Julie Simms Hays represented the DFW area. The local Houston group and planning committee was in full force and made it all worthwhile! Lots of belly laughs! The evening flew by... Not sure when the last person left, but I know I left “way past” the designated time on the invitation. Thank you, again Paige and Todd and the Host Committee: Lucy Anderson, Candy Clardy Provine, John Scofield, Stephen Dyer, Tricia Hamilton Dewhurst, Jennifer Hamelet, Paul Stallings, Mary Kay Wheless Hunt, Caroline Whitehead Hildreth and Bryan Legate. FYI: Lots of fun pics in our Facebook Group!

As for me, I am preparing to have a Kinkaid senior... senior pics, college apps, etc. It’s hard to believe how quickly time flies. Keep posting and sharing on our class FB page.
Helen Thompson Burt emailed that several Class of 1986 alumni have Kinkaid seniors! When you read this, Prentiss Burt ’15 (Helen’s son), Chandler Cone ’15 (Chris Cone’s son), Barclay Davis ’15 (Karen Lee Davis’s son), Jack Faulkner ’15 (Heather Ledbetter Kearney’s (fs) son) and Lovett Shaper ’15 (Park Shaper’s son) will be graduates of Kinkaid! Prentiss is attending Texas Christian

University. Chandler is attending Texas A&M University. Barclay is attending Southern Methodist University. Jack is attending Belmont University, and Lovett is attending the University of Texas. Best of luck to these college freshmen! Chris Cone comments it has been fun watching this next generation throughout their Kinkaid careers. He adds Chandler was accepted to the Engineering School at Texas A&M University. Sarah Kate ’16 just finished her junior year, and Caroline ’19 just finished eighth grade, both at Kinkaid. Susie and Chris are looking forward to relaxing this summer after a busy year. In addition to celebrating Barclay’s graduation, Karen Lee Davis is celebrating a new addition to her family! Karen and Ric are thrilled to have a new daughter, Alyssa! Karen shared that they adopted her through the CPS system. Alyssa is six years old and attending kindergarten at Memorial Drive Elementary. Karen’s son Philip is in eighth grade, homeschooled and plays ice hockey. Another member of our class added to his family this spring! Stephen Rogers (fs) welcomed a son, William Lesley Rogers, on April 10! Mollie Anderson Whisler writes that her daughter Elise graduated from SLVHS in June and is headed to NYC to study physics and theater with hopes of being a teacher. Mollie’s son Austin is busy working on his third production in a row! This time he gets to play his French horn as a street musician. Mollie loved reconnecting with a huge group of multi-year theater “kids” for a FBstyle reunion to celebrate G’ann Boyd’s birthday. It was great fun to see pictures and reconnect with fellow classmates. My daughter Katherine Berman ’18 just completed her freshman year at Kinkaid! She played field hockey, soccer and tennis. Katherine enjoyed being a part of the ensemble for A Chorus Line, Kinkaid’s musical, which received four Tommy Tune awards including Best Musical and Best Ensemble! My son Matthew is a rising third grader. He enjoys baseball, basketball, tennis and chess. I am looking forward to enjoying the summer with my family! Thanks for the updates! Keep them coming! Email them to julie@thelimogeslady.com. Hope to hear from you soon! Take care, Julie
