retired two years ago from a career in payments. Now, I pretty much travel where Kathi wants to go and play golf. We are going to Anguilla in early May and to Scotland, at the end of May, and to Alaska with Alisa and Jim Andras at the end of June/ first week in July, for starters. We still live up in The Woodlands, and I keep in touch with Conrad, George, Jim, John, Scott, Matt and Rusty on fairly regular basis.” Bobby Goldstein: “The newest member of my family is coming in October! This is my first grandchild (a girl), daughter of Lauren. Lauren is my eldest daughter. Her mother is Babette Lemiux. I have also remarried my wife for the next decade. I know I said in my last report that the third time was the charm, but 4 is more! She is Kim and she is swell!” Meredith Parsons Grisebaum’s daughter Brooke Grisebaum ’07 got engaged to Preston Powell on Easter weekend at Texas Corinthian Yacht Club, where Brooke developed her love of sailing. Preston evidently “pulled it off”, because it was an exciting surprise for Brooke! The son of Blanca and Cavanaugh O’Leary, Cavanaugh III, is graduating from Aspen High School on May 30 and will be attending California Polytechnic State University starting in the fall. He will be majoring in computer engineering. As their only child, it is a bittersweet moment as they are sad that he is leaving home but happy that they will be spending more time at their home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. There, Cavanaugh and Blanca are on the board of the local Cruz Roja Mexicana (the Mexican Red Cross), which operates the ambulance service for the town of about 140,000 people and over 540 outlying ranchos (the poor, rural communities), some up to 1.5 hours away in the mountains. Cavanaugh volunteers with the ambulance service, and Blanca is involved in a number of other charitable causes. Chris Chapman Trammell: “I have a granddaughter (2) that lives in Virginia Beach and another grandchild on the way. My daughter Ruthie just finished her second year in law school at the University of Tennessee. Nannette Cooper McGuinness advises that her four-city Hungarian performance tour with her trio (JMPP) in fall 2014 was a wonderful success. They have been awarded several grants for recording “Surviving: Women’s Words” in June. Her son Nick got engaged in February to girlfriend Alicia; date set for Yosemite in May 2016. Children’s book translations published in 2014/15 season include Enchanted Emporium #3: Map of the Passages; Sherlock, Lupin, and Me #3: The Mystery of the Scarlet Rose; Dino-

saurs #3: Jurassic Smarts; Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels #15: All for Stilton, Stilton for All; Thea Stilton Graphic Novels #4: Catching the Giant Wave. Thad and Eleni Antonellos Fuller celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on May 12. Their daughter Gabriella will be entering the seventh grade at Kinkaid in the fall. Holly Hover Baffert is back in town from California! She is working in interior design with Chapman Design, Inc. Welcome back Holly!

ies. David Brill’s daughter graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in the spring with degrees in Physics and Musical Theater. This fall, she will begin graduate school at the University of Nebraska in Omaha in Architectural Engineering with research interests in acoustical systems. Now that is an interesting combination!

Send me your news for the next Kinkaid magazine. Our 40th reunion will be here before we know it. Have a wonderful summer. Laura Byrd Herring ’76

1978 Sarah Deal Frankenfeld Austin, Texas sarahf422@me.com Hello Class of ’78! You all are wonderful and full of news. Thank you for making this so easy on me. As I read other class reports, some are funny, some are witty… but I just report it as I receive it! Let’s get to it! It was great to hear from Richard Anderson. Richard has been working in Houston for the past 30+ years in commercial/ residential real estate development/ brokerage. He and wife Melanie have two great kids and live in Bunker Hill. Meredith graduated from Memorial and is heading to SMU in the fall. Son Richard is a sophomore at Memorial with ambitions of becoming a doctor. From the household of Jennifer Tuttle Arnold: Georgia is heading to Occidental College in LA where she will be playing lacrosse. David just graduated from Chapman and will stay in California, and Jeanie remains in DC. Jennifer will be traveling literally cross-country to see her kids. Fun times ahead! Caroline Hoff Breshears reports that she and C.A. are the proud parents of two college graduates! Daughter Sara graduated from Trinity University in December 2014 with a B. A. in Social Science/ Anthropology and Ancient and Mediterranean Studies and hopes to go to graduate school in Archeology. Son Michael graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in May 2015 with a B.S./ Aeronautical Science (professional pilot) and Space Stud-

Jeff Martin ‘78 and Max Bunch ‘76

Steve Brooks’ son is going to SMU and will be rooming with two Houston boys from Memorial (is one of their last name’s Anderson)? Daughter Neilley graduates from Ole Miss in August. Too bad she couldn’t drag it out for one last football season! No more Hotty Toddy! The Bill Bruce household reports: Katherine lives in DC and works on Capitol Hill. Mary Clare graduated from W&L in May – anyone have a job for a Psychology/ Spanish double major with Art History minor? Clare is in her third year at MD Anderson as a Relo Specialist. Bill is with Weatherford and is expecting a tough year. Heather Fichter Cassidy and John are expecting their first grandchild in July. As is customary in their family, it is a BOY – surprise!! Heather and John are enjoying being empty nesters and just moved into a new home…and are already converting their home office into a nursery. Guess the empty nester thing was short-lived! Jon Finger’s son is attending Emory in the fall and oldest son graduated from Emory in May and will be staying in Atlanta. Graham Gilliam’s daughter Taylor is in DC working with the newly elected Republican Orange County Rep Mimi Walters, while son Carter lives in the Seattle area working as a mechanical engineer. Conner will be a senior at Kinkaid. I also heard from Susan McClure Jackson. Her son, who you will recall was the first born in our class, has retired from the military and is graduating with Honors with his Nursing Degree from Minot State University. They are still stationed there as his wife continues to serve in the Air Force. Daughter Kristin is in Loui-

siana and recently welcomed her first child. Susan is a grandmother to three! Robert Koelsch’s sons are Baylor through and through. Philip graduated from Baylor and is attending Baylor University Law School while Hal is also at Baylor. Marvel Wilkerson Layman wrote that daughter Elaine has a Master’s in Early Childhood and teaches third grade in Flagstaff, Arizona. She has followed her passion and plans to stay there forever. She is an avid camper, hiker and mountain climber. Michael Littman had nothing to report other than that he is aging something less than gracefully. I think we all feel like that sometimes! Scott Lucy just sent in his last college tuition check! Daughter Olivia graduated with honors from Texas Tech and will be eight hours from home (by plane) teaching at The American School in London! His new home is complete, and he is happily settled in. It was great to hear from Robert Pullen who reports that wife Jill and he are celebrating their 19th anniversary and living in Nashville. Kids Robby, Will and Alexandra are working in Chicago, New York and Denver. He was happy to recently get to catch up by phone with Marshall Merrifield and Johnny Sutton ’79. Charlie Prioleau and Mimi are enjoying being empty nesters while daughter is in NYC with JP Morgan and son is a third-year student at W&L. Judy Gates Ramsey’s daughter is headed to Baylor in the Fall. My favorite news comes from Mike Rutherford who reports that Frank Bryan’s oldest child and his oldest grandchild will graduate high school in the same year! He reports that Frank is tougher than he is. Brian Van de Mark’s child works as a video editor in Santa Monica and lives in nearby West LA. As for me, I spent the weekend with Ana Mari (read last article if you don’t know what I am talking about). She was in town for her son’s graduation with her husband and three other kids and cousins and more cousins. As is usual for Guatemalans, it was quite the celebration!! They are lovely and we have an extended family in Guatemala. I hadn’t seen her in 37 years and picked up as if I had just seen her yesterday! I can’t wait to go back to Guatemala. Take care of yourselves. I guess we are all turning 55 – I did so you all must be too! J Some of us have young children, some are grandparents, some are first time empty nesters, some are looking forward to being empty nesters and some may not be looking forward to it. We are all at different points in our lives but one thing remains the same – we all
