2013 Distinguished Alumni Awards
On the Friday night of Reunion Weekend, the Alumni Association honored three individuals based upon their personal and professional accomplishments. Congratulations to David, Grover and Robert.

David Veselka
Grover Geiselman ’91
Distinguished Alumnus
David joined the Kinkaid faculty in 1978 as an English and History teacher in the Middle School. The following year he began a photography course in the Upper School. For 18 years David taught English and Photography, and in 1992 he received the Columbiana Award for Teaching Excellence for his work in these two areas. In 1995 David became a full-time photography teacher, and in 2009 David was named Director of Visual Arts at Kinkaid. One of the two founding teachers of Houston Center for Photography’s Collaborations program, David later served as Chair of the Education Committee on the HCP Board of Directors.
Grover is the CEO of Living Spaces, a home furniture retailer based in Southern California. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a BBA degree in Finance in 1995. Grover worked for Lehman Brothers and First Reserve Corporation before attending Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where he earned an MBA in 2002. After an internship with Gallery Furniture in Houston, Grover co-founded Living Spaces in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where the company opened its first location in 2003. Living Spaces now has eight locations throughout Southern California with two new stores scheduled to open later this year.
Robert is a producer and screenwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Robert has degrees from Williams College and UCLA’s Graduate School of Theater, Film and Television, where he was the first recipient of the Lew Wasserman Fellowship for directing. His career started in New York where he was a producer for a pilot that aired nationally on PBS’s American Playhouse series. As a screenwriter, Robert has sold or optioned projects to almost every studio including Dreamworks, Paramount and MGM/UA. For many years he served as President of Production and Development for Vanguard Films, where he was part of the small team that developed and sold Shrek to Dreamworks. Robert’s work has included voice direction, musical composition, character design and website design.
