Callie B. Law Award for Writing

The McMinn Technology Endowment

Papadopoulos Biology Endowment

Established in 2007 by the friends and family of beloved English teacher Callie B. Law, this award is given annually to the student whose achievement in writing is judged by the English Department to reflect the highest levels of excellence.

Established in 1998 by Bill & Nancy McMinn, grandparents of Brad ‘01 and Kate Beasley Brock ‘05, in support of technology.

Established in 1997 by Dr. & Mrs. C. N. Papadopoulos, parents of Helena Papadopoulos Johnson ‘82, Dean Papadopoulos ‘83, Christina Papadopoulos Papandreou ‘88 and William Papadopoulos ‘92 and grandparents to Anna Maria ‘18 and Will Johnson, and Mary ‘25, Aphrodite ‘22 and Christos Papandreou ‘18, to underwrite special expenditures in the Biology Department.

The Max R. & Mary Frances Lents Endowment for Faculty Continuing Education Established in 1996 in memory of Mary Lents by Life Trustee Max Lents, their daughter Ann Lents ‘67 and her husband J. David Heaney, and by special friends in support of the School’s faculty enrichment program. In 2000 upon the death of Max Lents, the fund became known as the Max R. & Mary Frances Lents Endowment.

The Liedtke Endowment

The Meyer Endowment Established in 1992 by Life Trustee Randall & Barbara Meyer, parents of Warren ‘80, Gretchen Meyer Manias ‘81 and Kirsten Meyer Wrinkle ‘83, and grandparents of Andrew ‘13 and Hayden Manias ‘14, in support of general endowment.

The J. Alec and Tara Mize Endowment Established in 2001 by Tara ‘82 and Alec Mize, parents of Katie ‘06 and Lexie ‘09, to support Kinkaid’s general endowment needs.

The Joseph Barry Moss & Gary Brent Moss Fellowship in the Humanities

Established in 1970 by Life Trustee J. Hugh & Betty Liedtke, parents of Karen Liedtke Mark ‘66, Kristy Liedtke ‘69, Blake ‘74 and Katie Liedtke Bade ‘80, and grandparents of Virginia Strickland ‘97, Lacey Liedtke Brunner ‘00 and Taylor Liedtke ‘02, to aid ongoing educational programs.

Established in 2004 by Barry Moss, former Upper School Principal and English teacher, to provide the opportunity for Kinkaid faculty members to enrich themselves in the formal study of the Humanities or in other directly related activities.

The Barry Moss Distinguished Speaker Endowment

Established in 1970 by Bill & Bessie Liedtke, parents of William III ‘69, Laura Liedtke Bucholz ‘71, Cadell Liedtke ‘73 and Claire Liedtke Alexander ‘76, to aid ongoing educational programs.

The Likover Endowment for Visiting Lower School Authors Established in 1994 by Dr. Larry & Bonnie Likover, parents of Clay ‘97 and Collin ‘14, in memory of Kyle Likover. This endowment brings visiting authors to the Lower School for a two-day visit.

Robin & Alan Lowe Choir Endowment Established in 2000 by Gerald & Fran Lowe to honor their children, Robin ‘01 and Alan ‘03, both active participants in the Kinkaid Choir.

The Lynhurst Foundation Endowment for the Backyard Established in 2002 in celebration and remembrance of John Fontaine ‘02, son of Nancy and Jack Fontaine, to support the school’s unique environment where our students observe and preserve nature.

Established in 2005 by gifts made in memory of Kinkaid’s beloved faculty member J. Barry Moss. The endowment supports an annual speaker series for students and the entire Kinkaid community.

The David & Pamela Ott Science & Technology Endowment Established in 2000 by Dr. David & Pam Ott, parents of David ‘97, and grandparents of Ellie ’26 and Annie Ott ‘27, to support science and technology programs.

The James N. Papadopoulos Biology Endowment Established in 1992 by Dr. & Mrs. C. N. Papadopoulos, parents of Helena Papadopoulos Johnson ‘82, Dean Papadopoulos ‘83, Christina Papadopoulos Papandreou ‘88 and William Papadapoulos ‘92 and grandparents to Anna Maria ‘18 and Will Johnson and Mary ‘25, Aphrodite ‘22 and Christos Papandreou ‘18, to bring renowned speakers to Kinkaid’s Upper School Biology Department.

The Reuben Littleton Philips Endowment Established in 1975 by Mrs. Rebecca Philips in memory of her husband, Ruben Littleton Philips, to support the position of a resource specialist.

The Poarch Family Endowment Established in 2001 by Don and Cindy Poarch, parents of Caroline Poarch Burgert ‘00 and Allison Poarch ‘03, to support Kinkaid’s general endowment needs.

The Robertson Endowment Established in 1990 by Beth Robertson ‘64, mother of Cullen ‘93 and Grover Geiselman ‘91, to support Kinkaid’s general endowment needs.

The Robinson Technology Endowment Established in 2000 by Dan & Sharyn Robinson, parents of Elizabeth ‘07 and Emily ‘13, to support Kinkaid’s technology programs.

The Rosenfield Family Faculty Mentor Research Fund Established in 2009 by David B. Rosenfield, M.D. and his wife Maria, parents of Dylan ‘14 and Lillian ‘18, to support a faculty member who will mentor students interested in doing independent scientific research.

The Jennie & Charles Simmons Summer Sabbatical Fund in Honor of John Germann Established in 2007 by Tom and Jan Simmons, parents of Jennie ‘03 and Charles ‘05, to honor Upper School History Teacher John Germann and to provide the opportunity for faculty members with an extended record of distinguished service to Kinkaid to take time in the summer to travel and pursue a special interest.

The Tomlinson Endowment for Enrichment of Teaching Established in 1980 by former Kinkaid Trustee Prentis Tomlinson, father of Katherine Tomlinson Pennington ‘88, to aid faculty development.

The Thorstenberg Technology Endowment Established in 1997 in memory of Louise & Russell Thorstenberg by Katy Archer Thorstenberg ‘69 & Russell Thorstenberg, Jr. ‘67, parents of Annette ‘00, Catherine ‘02 and Russell ‘04.

The Underwood Endowment Established in 1963 by Life Trustee David M. ‘54 & Lynda Underwood as a gift to the general endowment fund to underwrite educational programs.

The Underwood Technology Endowment Established in 1998 by Life Trustee David M. ‘54 & Lynda Underwood in support of Kinkaid’s technology program.

The Walter Endowment
