>>Dears King Koala does not refer to a monarchy, in which nobody believes, but it is pure shit. King Koala is the king of this shit. King Koala is lazy. King Koala is the king of the lazy and when it decides to do something it does it slowly. King Koala is not afraid of Christmas, but celebrates Saint Patrick. King Koala loves books.

Publishing projects that go beyond the usual idea of a book or catalog, magazine, becoming a fluid form to present mainly photography, but also artistic heritage, visual social experiments, fantasies and living spaces of universes and dimensions in common.

<MAKE IT SLOW

This type of vision assigns importance to every place on earth, and establishes a network of original relationships between living beings. We want to spread the cult of photography and the care of art. We like to make connections. With this book we want to introduce ourselves.

King Koala is a fluid, narrative, imaginative and visual editorial collective. Slow in his production, concentrated in producing even unconscious dreams of artists capable of doing it. King Koala finds books, stories, objects, words, photos, passages, environments, sounds and landscape.

Being Luca Mata, aka Luca Matarazzo, a literary man he felt the need to express through narration his various artistic views. The paradox is the technique, as Sun Tsu said, and Luca Mata writes about his art of artistic war, in a pure and intimate way. He lives chasing a balance, has an Hagakure in himself who forced him past the mere photography, and pushed him to paste, impress, sew and print the chaotic world of his imagination, that blends in with reality as it if was a vivid dream. An artistic drift that develops in five colors, five concepts, five emotions that are clean but yet chaotic. A fight, a battle that smells of tobacco and debris of emotions, Luca Mata, like Miyamoto Musashi, writes his diary, takes notes, perfects them and binds together his “five rings”. The colors he picked are the ones of his imagination, the ones he prefers. His fight is a perfect storm that crashes on the pages of his

books, driven by instinct, it’s passion and memories of a violent past and a present that explodes in its moment, completed by photos, it takes form with the glue and on the page of a memory, bound with stitches. Demons and goddesses, lovers and flings, poetry and violence. Luca Mata’s work in his books is a mix of photos, colors, markers, tales and esthetic bites. A mix of other medias capable of grouping together incompatible elements to tell the tale that the artist hid under the leaves of his internal jungle, made of people he met, the world he has seen. A school diary drenched of life, a collection of papers and notes not to be forgotten, a playlist of only five hits, a move that hasn’t been done yet, but that could’ve been something. Images and words, tales and fragments sharp like pieces of glass, the glass of a broken mirror that keeps reflecting the image of the artist even when it’s shattered.

It feels kind of like a necessity. This is how Shyla N., the photographer and artist who created this ambitious project, answers you when asked how this Greatest Hits was conceived. I felt the need to make the book I was dreaming of for a long time. I noticed that there was a massive lack of publications about graffiti, especially of the late 90’s scene, so I thought about how I could fill this gap by talking about my passion through the looks and words of those who created, nurtured and improved it. With this in mind, Shyla approached the project like that of a record producer trying to put together all the best albums of the century. With the help of friends and precious contacts, she managed to gather eleven names; eleven signatures who made history in three specific areas: walls, trains and throw ups. The names of Spice, Fra32, Mind, Chob, Lama, Panda, Dem, Beast, Caps, Haker, Aster; their words and memories

were then all grouped together into three books, 7-inch record sized, bound in a special edition box set. A limited print run of 300 copies that reminds of the old school of vinyls – considering the names – enriched by the cover art designed by Noyz Narcos, an artist who embodies the true nature of Greatest Hits due to his bond to the streets and graffiti, and a rich introduction by the independent curator, Pietro Rivasi. All these elements mixed together tell us a story that intersects with our country, our culture and the street art scene which keeps on growing regardless of judgement or closed mindsets. Greatest Hits doesn’t pretend to explain or tell us something in particular. It gathers. It brings together all those colors and lines that captured my attention when I was a kid, when I used to give a name to each area of the city and the walls… because the name was already written on it.

Alessandra Pace Ocean Atmosphere category: photo / solo book mature content

172 pages Size closed 210x260 mm with flaps Four-color printing Pantone 3105 C / U Filorefe binding 300 limited edition copies E50 (35 for retailers)

«I’m a photo serial hoarder since 2012 and while analyzing my whole archive some peculiarities came out like as my obsession for kitchens, bathrooms and windows.» Alessandra Pace, from Pescara, photographer and visual artist presents for the first time a collection of shots belonging to her rich artistic production, in a prestigious volume, created for King Koala Press. In the last period, Alessandra’s artistic career has found an individual turning point that has led her eye and her shots to a deeper awareness and a horizon of meaning that transcends the body and nature itself to reach that “mixed” image ” of feeling, sought in the folds of a room, of an urban moment, of a moment of passion and transgression. With extreme respect and an elegance that has always characterized her underground approach to photography, Alessandra Pace shows us in this book a sort of opening path, a re-

ference to the camera’s objective, but also an aesthetic awakening that starts from the most intimate environment of the human being (the bathroom), passing through the essentials (the kitchen) up to opening the windows and immersing oneself in the world, up to the most extreme, concrete, carnal opening of all: exhibitionism and porn. An individual research of the technique most suited to one’s expressiveness, made up of Nikon f301 and Contax g2, Polaroid cameras, Chinese disposables, also expired ones, kodak disposables, in underwater version too, a 35mm underwater camera from 70’s used only to shoot out of the water, and a charming little box with a pinhole that imprint on 35mm roll. A flow of impressions on paper that re-flect naked bodies, exposed bodies, joys, pains, sufferings and laughter. Friends, lovers, relatives, universes, microcosms.

Album 297×210 Print 4+4 Munken rough gr 200 Cover Munken st 4+0 gr. 400 Paperback sewing thread Limited edition 300 copies E35 (22 for retailers)

Fra32’s “Images you should not masturbate to” is an handmade project far from the graffiti books you can find nowadays. This volume is made by the two authors with no computer or digitalism, just like your fave zine from the 70’s (Sniffin’ Glue, Flipside or Slash, but better). Fra32 made all the artworks painting and drawing the original prototype, than Shyla proceeded scanning tons of photos and typewriting unpublished, exclusive contents.

You’ll find some very rare material like a special dedicated to the RSG crew, a juicy contribution by our delegate from China, you’ll be able to travel through time and space with contents from years ago, from the future and from outer space. And yes, of course you’ll find tons of throw ups, panels and some heavily moving words in-between. 300 hand numbered copies.

“Usually the word pornography sets us uncomfortably on edge. I personally find that pornography is typically considered strictly sexual, and in other aspects of social life, such as politics or the media, there are always people adamant on censuring a breast or a bum for no valid reason. This often happened for classic artists like Picasso, whose painting Les Femmes D’Algers was censured by FOX who shaded the breasts, genitals and bum in his art, or Gerhard Richter’s Nude Descending a Staircase, exposed at the Centre Pompidou.” (Giacinto Di Pietrantonio)
