QUALITY S Y S T EMANAGEMENT M MANAGEMENT QUALITY SYSTEM
A selection of gas work carried out by a gas operative shall be inspection by supervisory staff. This is to ensure that all necessary aspects have been carried out. This will include making sure that all checks and tests required by the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations (GSIUR), appliance manufacturer’s instructions, industry standards and company procedures have been undertaken. This procedure is of particular importance given the repetitive nature of service work and landlord’s gas safety checks which may lead to complacency. Frequency and quantity of QC checks will be dependent on the findings. It is recognised that quality control is proportional to the type, scope and volume of gas work undertaken. The volume of QC work shall be based on risk assessment findings. The process will commence with a selection of work undertaken by each gas operative and then a risk assessment carried out based on the findings of these initial checks. A flexible approach shall be adopted, taking into account the following: •
The gas operative concerned (background, previous work history etc.
•
Types of work undertaken
•
Amount of work carried out
•
Inspection of findings
The initial approach shall be for a high level of quality control visits to be carried out, reviewed and then maintained or decreased according to the results.
