I hope that we have finally navigated Covid, which again this year stalled us in our creative stride for a while. Nonetheless what the students have produced is marked by their personalities and individuality. The thing I like most about the KAS Photography shows is that every student shows something different. There isn’t a ‘house style’ that I can see, sometimes there are themes or more of one thing than another, but no predictability I think, I hope. We have more moving film this year, and for the first time I can remember, animations galore! We have portraiture, documentary, architecture, music installation, high drama, and images of the everyday. Alongside this show we have been developing our print and media output. We have the A Level catalogue as usual, this catalogue, but we also have our new termly magazine called ‘Open Book’ which is on display and for sale at this show. We hope it’s a dynamic forum for creative images and ideas. Hopefully (at the time of writing) we are also showing our virtual gallery, which was in fact born out of Covid, and although still in development, is something which we are very proud of and more so, excited by. In the coming months, we will also be launching a website to profile the students work and where you will be able to buy their work, which is a regular request at these shows, so look out for that. Anyway, enough for now, enjoy the show, and our students hard and wonderful work, buy some catalogues and magazines and try on the VR headset to give the virtual gallery a whirl. Enjoy. Cliff
