Kindred Place 2020 Annual Report
What We Do
At Kindred Place, we dream of a world where every home is a nurturing home where children and families thrive. Kindred Place is a counseling and education center with comprehensive resources to help children, parents, intimate partners, and whole families. We offer professional group and individual therapy, parent coaching, and a wide range of classes and workshops. Integrated as a whole-family approach, our programs foster resilience, enable healing, and establish building blocks for healthy relationships. Our long-term vision is that every home is a nurturing place
where children and families thrive. Healthy family relationships at home enable healthy relationships at school, at work, and in neighborhoods to build a peaceful, thriving community. We offer income-based financial assistance to all clients
to ensure universal access to high-quality, specialized behavioral health services. The average cost per client session is $127, and the average fee paid by the client is less than $25. Victims of domestic violence and their children are not charged at all. Funding from various sources, including government grants, United Way, corporate philanthropy, and generous individual donors, makes up the difference between the cost of providing help and the clients’ ability to pay.

FEEDBACK INFORMED TREATMENT How We Know Our Work Works
In 2020 Kindred Place became the first counseling center in the Greater Memphis area to implement Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT), a validated and evidence-based approach to collecting and using continuous feedback from clients to guide clinical practices. FIT has been shown to reduce drop-out rates by half and to improve outcomes by as much as 50%. FIT utilizes two short measures: Outcome Rating Scale (outcome scale) and the Session Rating Scale (session scale). Administered in less than two minutes at every session, the measures are normed for both children and adults.

Speak Positivity. It’s important to speak positivity into your child’s life because words have the power to build a child’s self-esteem or tear it down. If you speak positivity into your child and give them affirmations daily, they will believe what you’re speaking into them and try to be the best version of themselves because that’s how their parents view them. 4

Serve and Return.
The better your bond is with your child, the stronger they’ll be as an adult. Something as simple as eye contact, mimicking your child’s facial expressions, and smiling and laughing can make all the difference. On a neurological level, this creates new connections in their brain, which will ultimately have a tremendous impact on their lives. 2020 Annual Report
