Williams named editor of Lady’s Island News With a round of applause (and sigh of relief from the publishers), please welcome John Williams as editor of the Lady’s Island News! “We have had so much positive feedback about our newspaper that we needed to bring on an experienced writer and editor to help us keep up,” co-publisher Kim Gallant said. “John Williams knows this community, he knows the news, and he knows how to communicate clearly and with a sense of fun.” Williams is a seasoned writer and reporter. For the past

12 years, he led communications and public relations for the Beaufort County School District. Many people know him for his work as the spokesman for the school system, putting his (usually) smiling face on TV and the front page on a regular basis. His work for the school district brought honors from the National School Public Relations Association and the South Carolina chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. His campaigns helped pass three school bond referendums totaling more than $326 million. CContinued on page 6

Upper Crust relocates to new Hamilton Village

Hamilton Village, Lady’s Island’s newest shopping gallery at the corner of Sunset Bluff and U.S. 21, opens this week with the relocation of Upper Crust pizza. “We have our whole crew and our families working to help us get ready,” said Marianne Blake, who owns the Beaufort Upper Crust with her husband, David. “We took apart the cold storage (freezer) piece by piece and moved that from our old location.” Last weekend, the Blake’s work team was cleaning the ovens, painting chairs, hanging curtains and making arrangements for the final push to open.
