Céad míle fáilte - A hundred thousand welcomes to everybody visiting our little part of the world. This is a taste of the variety of visitors who stay with us each year, what they have to say about their experiences in Killarney ... and why they come back

year in year out. Photographs by Sean Moriarty

Brothers Emil and Karl Ohlson were on a short trip from GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN. “It has been lovely,” said Karl. “It feels like a big town even though it's not. It is very narrow with the small streets and restaurants. We are looking forward to seeing the night life.”

Brian and Kathleen Lavalley and Linda and Bill Lyons from CAPE COD, USA enjoying a traditional jaunting car ride.

“The views are amazing, every time I see something I say this can’t get any better until I see the next place. Muckross House was just brilliant, and Muckross Abbey was breath-taking. I could stay here in Killarney for the rest of my life.”

Louis and Meghan were on a hiking holiday from EAST COAST, USA.

“It is our first time here,” said Louis. “We hiked the entire Kerry Way, the area around Caherdaniel is our favourite by far. We are having a fantastic time.”

John and Caroline from LIMERICK CITY were on a short weekend break and loved the pubs and shopping. “I bought a bodhrán, where else could you buy one,”

said John.

Tom Guainiere and his Waterford fiancé Harriet Howley were in Killarney planning their wedding. Both are now living in WATFORD, ENGLAND but were on their fifth trip to Killarney.

“We had been coming here for four or five years prior to Covid,” explained Harriet. “This an in ideal place for our wedding because Tom’s family can fly direct from Luton to be with us.”

Tom added: “I just love the lakes and National Park, we

are having a grand time.”
