Still no movement on new FarranforeKillarney road plans

Transport Infrastructure Ireland have yet to give any indication on the preferred route corridor for the new Farranfore to Killarney road.
Several options went to public consultation last summer and the TII said they would announce the preferred route before the end of last year. This did not happen and so far there has been no indication as to when the announcement will be made.
Mayor Brendan Cronin raised the issue again at this week’s Killarney Municipal District meeting.
An council official told the meeting: “The
2023 allocation of €100,000 for the scheme is insufficient to progress the scheme and in this regard, Kerry County Council has sought additional funding from the TII. Furthermore, Kerry County Council is not in a position to release the other corridor options as they form a necessary part of the planning consent process. The TII have not given us any indication of a timeline of when the process will be completed.”
