JD Sports seeking location for new Killarney store?

Could sports retail giant JD Sports be coming to Killarney?

No official announcement has been made yet, however JD Sports is currently advertising on recruitment websites for a manager for its Killarney store. In March last year, Nike, the flagship store at the Killarney Outlet Centre closed with the loss of around 20 jobs.

NEWS BRIEFS...

Annual Aghadoe Mass

The annual Aghadoe Graveyard mass has been rescheduled to Monday July 24.

The mass will take place at 8pm and a bus will depart High St at 6pm in time for the 8pm ceremony.

Barleymount water

The persistent outages in Barley- mount will be addressed this year, Kerry County Council has confirmed. The problems in the area are due to a very problematic section of rising main between Crohane pumphouse and Barleymount Reservoir. This section of rising main is due to be replaced later this year. Construction is scheduled to start in October 2023.

Despite many new stores opening at the Outlet Centre since Nike’s departure, including the re-locating Mods & Minis which opened this week, there has been, so far, no replacement, for the sports brand.

While JD Sports would be a welcome addition to the shopping centre and an ideal replacement for Nike, it all speculation for now.
