Audrey Hepburn inspires camera club winner Killarney Cycling Club update
Double action on the road last weekend with the Crotty Cup taking place in Kilrush on Saturday and the Wicklow hills staging a tough day out at the Shay Elliot Memorial Race.
In Clare, Luke Costello has been quickly adapting to the level of racing in A3 after securing promotion from the A4 ranks at the start of the season and impressed with a fourth place finish on the day.
A solo attack from Shane Spellman was closed down with 500m to the finish and he finished in the main bunch along with Frank Doherty and Ewan Buckley.
Sam Bolger put in a hard shift and finished strongly in the front half of the Wicklow race.
Local XC racers were in action last week at Round One of the National Points series, in Carrickgollogan Forest in County Dublin.
The event was held for the first time by Epic MTB on the Leadmine trails, a popular trail amongst local and one well-raced within Epic's club league.
A great showing from Killarney Club Members with Mark McGlynn, Patrick Clifford, Michael Coghlan, Stephen Doherty and Sean Driscoll and Ben O’Keeffe are featuring in their respective races

Anne Kelly was the winner of Killarney Camera Club’s monthly photographic competition.
The penultimate competition of the 2023 season had an ‘Accessories’ theme and the club received a total of 21 very creative entries.
“Congratulations to Anne who won both the Unrestricted and Novice categories. Her iconic photo was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in the classic movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’”, said Killarney Camera Club’s Deirdre O’Donoghue.
Anne gave an insight into her winning image.
She said: “In the film, Audrey Hepburn wears big hats , black gloves and lots of pearls. As neither Audrey nor my daughters were around to model the accessories, I chose this pose so I could remain incognito.
“My Olympus camera has a facility that allows me to use my phone as a remote control with a live view where I can focus, adjust the shutter speed and aperture and activate the shutter, as in this shot. It’s shot in daylight with flash bounced off the ceiling.”
