Killarney Aims To Become Ireland’s Number One Green Destination A GREEN workshop aimed at the hospitality sector offered plenty of food for thought when it unfolded in the Randles Hotel on Tuesday. Leading speakers on sustainable tourism offered an insight to tourism businesses on how to become more engaged in responsible tourism with a focus on waste and resource management – especially as to how they impact on the local environment. “Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce has always recognised the importance of our environment to the hospitality industry and down through the years the Killarney tourism sector has been taking a very active role in all matters relating to our environment,” said Johnny McGuire of Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce. “Killarney should aim towards being the most sustainable tourism town in Ireland and the number-one green destination in Ireland. If the hospitality industry in Killarney signed up to the green hospitality agenda it would go a long way towards achieving this aim. It would be better if Killarney was seen to be a leader rather than playing catchup.”
