It’s panto time…Oh yes it is Panto: For young and adult children
THE Watergate Theatre has come up with a tale as old as time. Beauty and the Beast is its 2020 pantomime. Beauty and the Beast begins on January 1, 2020 for 12 performances. Tickets are already selling like the proverbial hot cross buns. Following the success of Frozen Solid, welcomes back renowned theatre director Christine Scarry as Director/ Musical Director and a warm welcome goes to David Doyle
who is choreographer having played the charming Prince Donald in Frozen Solid. Auditions will be held on July 28 for principal and chorus roles. are looking for a variety of singers, actors and dancers to bring this wonderful story to life so if you think you could be the next Belle, Beast or Gaston, The Watergate would love to hear from you. Brian Boru: Still a big influence ALTHOUGH Brian Boru’s remains have lain in St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh since The Battle of Clontarf all those years ago, the man of legendary deeds is still a positive influence on many of our people. That is borne out in a news story on Page 30 of today’s Kilkenny Observer as we recall the exploits of an Ireland Kettleball team that included a strong Kilkenny input. And, wait for it, the comparatively young
Kettleball Club is proudly called Brian Boru at the behest of the owner and head coach David Sheehan who is a devotee of Brien, who he says, did so much for our country. Brian Boru, history reminds, was very much a real man and was in fact the last great High King of Ireland and perhaps the greatest military leader our country has ever known. The Brian Boru tale is well worth perusing, or at least that is our view.
