DECORATE YOUR TREE
Decorating the tree can be one of the most exciting parts of Christmas. It’s the heart of the holiday – so much that’s good about Christmas happens around it, like spending time with family and celebrating tradition. In Sweden, we love to let the tree really speak for itself by keeping decorations to a minimum. We love to make our own Flätade Julhjärtan (Woven Paper Heart Decorations) that we can fill with treats and add to the mix of ornaments. Special finishing touches like beautiful garlands, gold or copper make the tree shine. On January 13, when the tree gets taken down, the kids get to eat all the treats that were inside the handmade decorations. It’s their chance to raid the Christmas tree. We call this Swedish tradition Julgransplundring.
