LIVING HISTORY History and culture comes alive at the Bakone Malapa Museum just outside Polokwane where the colourful BaSotho people invite tourists to take a peek into their fascinating culture. Learn about traditional customs, history and crafts at this living museum that beautifully and faithfully replicated a traditional Basotho village. The village is permanently inhabited by a traditional community and fascinating demonstrations are hosted daily. Here ‘foreigners’ are taught how to make a fire, brew beer and grind their own maize. The Basotho are an artistic people and showcase their woodcarving, pottery, basketry and beadwork at the museum. Pop into the craft shop to take home a tangible memory of Bakone Malapa.
