OVID19 brought with it many changes and disruptions to our day to day lives. We are physically separated from our spiritual communities and loved ones. The Uniform symbolises our devotion to one another, our faith and unity.

As such, I make an offering and an invitation. To join the visualisation of community spirit through creating your own version of the Uniform. In this time of limited resources and conflict over what is an essential purchase and what is not, I welcome you to use any fabric you have on hand. An old bedsheet, a towel. Whatever you choose, your offering is worthy. To make the Uniform, please download the pattern that I have put together. It can be printed at home with an A4 printer in black and white, over 15 pages. Or if you prefer, you may use the measurements and draw out the pattern on baking paper.

The instructions on how to make the Uniform can be found on the following pages and the pattern can be downloaded HERE. Once you have created the Uniform, I ask that you complete the exchange by taking documentation (photographs, videos, etc) of yourself wearing the Uniform and share these with the rest of the community. This can be done by using the hashtag #CommunitySpiritEX on social media or by submitting them via email to kieraashleighbroderick@gmail.com Please note that in an effort to unify us, I will be collating and sharing the images online. Welcome to the community.

6. Repeat, attaching the second 1x body piece. 7. Keeping the Uniform inside out, fold the bottom of each sleeve 05.inch and iron. Then fold another 1inch and iron. 8. Repeat with the neckline and bottom of the Uniform. 9. Keeping the Uniform inside out, pin together both body pieces along one side, from the hem to the sleeve. Unfold the ironed sleeve edge. 10. Stitch along the pinned edge, leaving a 1cm allowance. Repeat on the other side. 11. Refold the ironed sleeve edges, pin and stitch, leaving a 1inch opening. Repeat on both the sleeves and neckline. 12. Stitch along the bottom of the Uniform. 13. Turn the Uniform the right way round. 14. Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic/string. 15. Using the opening on the neckline, feed through the elastic/string. This will bunch up the neckline, creating folds. Pull through the opening again and decide how big you would like the neckline to be. Once decided, tie the ends of the elastic/string. Cut off any excess and push the knot into the fold. Stitch the opening closed. 16. Repeat with the sleeves.
