profile Leveraging my unique life experiences, I tackle projects with a comprehensive design process to make sure each project is thoughtfully created. I do this taking into consideration sociological and environmental conditions, down to the specific sourcing of materials used to produce and implement a design that can influence the world.

national pork board commercial renovation concept
National Pork Board Headquarters wanted to update their space with a modern aesthetic through a new color palette, efficiency of space, and maximize natural lighting to encourage use of underutilized amenity spaces as well as increase collaboration and camaraderie among staff with a universal design.
space
The modern aesthetic was achieved by creating a neutral backdrop to accent subtle branding throughout, and strategic wall placement for private offices with integrated glass walls at the main circulation corridors to increase the penetration of natural lighting. Bathrooms were updated to code and the mechanical system was updated for improved air quality. A main objective was to integrate a demonstration kitchen to feature pork as a product that allowed the client to prep, cook, and cater tasting events to feature pork. These events are often recorded, using built-in A/V equipment and later shared publicly via social media.
impact
Worked through a master plan to implement a phased renovation to allow for minimum interruption. Held meetings with the client to develop the aesthetic they wanted to achieve and implement through construction administration. During this time I also created a Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) package for the client to arrive when each phase would be finished.

conference center
The renovation of the conference center drastically increased the utilization rate. Through the use of modern finishes, increased lighting, sound dampening baffles and variable seating options, it has created a highly versatile space for everyone. The conference center has become a destination point for gatherings, and collaboration among peers. With the subtle branding integrated into the design this space has also become the center of events hosted at National Pork Board.
office
Each office has glass walls inspired from the original windows in the conference center to allow for more transparency and day lighting to reach the main circulation corridors from the offices. An FF&E package was developed for each office to have a sit-to-stand desk and modern storage for a clean aesthetic.

scottish rite ballroom historic renovation concept
Over the past decade the Scottish Rite noticed their ballroom was decreasing in popularity as peoples desire for beautiful "instagrammable" spaces increased. The Scottish Rite decided to invest in the ballroom to create a desirable space.
space
Taking inspiration from the original architecture throughout the building, a modernized color pallet and historically conscientious changes were developed to create a destination point.
impact
I worked through the overall concept to update and enhance the original space. This entailed creating a modern color palate for the walls, ceiling and columns, new lighting fixture type and layout, selection of new chairs and alterations to the original detailing.

Some of the historically conscientious changes that were made include painting the columns with faux marble inspired by the scagliola in their main auditorium, recreate the original trim to use strategically, and updated lighting elements that worked with the architectural elements.

clientele experience
A bride who toured and rented the ballroom before the renovation walked into the space on her special day and broke down crying at how beautiful it had become after the renovation.
petschek villa historic documentation concept
The Department of State feels it is important to share the historical significance on key buildings overseas to the US population. Through this process, Iowa State University was contacted for a senior level study opportunity to research and study Petschek Villa currently an ambassadorial house in the Czech Republic. This study entailed creating a historical structures report of the building and rehabilitation concepts for underutilized spaces.
space
Several teams were created to study and document each room on the main floor as well as working as a whole to create proposals on the rehabilitation of the pool area.
impact
I specifically worked on the documentation of the music room and library room for the documentation process. I then worked on creating a digital 3D representation of the pool room in revit to share through a VR experience.

interior documentation
Part of the our class project was to create a historic structures report of Petschek Villa. My teams focused on creating reports for the music room and library room. This entailed documentation of the defining historic characteristics of the space as well as the notable items. The report was then complied with the rest of the class and submitted to the Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations.

historic pool
As legend goes the pool was only used once by the original owner before they deemed it too costly for maintenance and the humidity from the pool often caused issues with the house. Since then the pool room has been abandoned and preserved through neglect.
rehabilitation of pool
The class came up with several ideas on how to effectively rehabilitate the space. These included but not limited to: - creating an art exhibit - a conference center - indoor event space - bar area - restoration of the pool
impact
For the pool area I was assigned to create a 3D digital rendering that allows individuals to visit the space through a VR machine.

britt bank historic rehabilitation concept
Study of declining small towns in Iowa shows the importance of rehabilitation for historic buildings in the downtown area. This study specifically looks at the decline of Britt and how to start the rehabilitation process through the use of the historic Britt Bank. The building lost much of its importance through neglect. This rehabilitation process looked into modern uses for the building to become a destination point.
space
Much of the original interior was lost and destroyed. Our objective was to decide what would be preserved and what was necessary to reconstruct. A space was created to allow a user to understand its history as well as allowing the building to efficiently work in its modern development.
impact
This study was presented to congressman at the Research at the Capital Symposium held in Des Moines Iowa at the capital building. We demonstrated the importance of researching the historic characteristics and amenities in the surrounding area of small towns through the study of Britt. Specifically for Britt Bank the team decided to develop a space we felt would have the most impact for the small town. I worked on developing the bank into a “fancyâ€? restaurant, Katelyn Bauer worked on developing the same space into a local cafĂŠ and Jaclyn Montour worked on developing the upstairs area into a small hotel.

We felt it was necessary to reconstruct the original columns, restore the original coffering with an addition of LED lighting, and lay new tile flooring where it was originally carpet. I worked through a scheme that would restore the interior similar to the original design and used inspiration from popular paint colors during the era it was constructed. My teammate Katelyn Bauer worked through a more modern scheme for a cafe styled space. We felt these two ideas portrayed our ideas of how this space could become a destination point for the surrounding area.
luxury home residential design concept
The luxury home project was a conceptual design process developed to work through the creative process and understanding of codes. The main creative process was to implement ideas from a couple with diverse backgrounds and aspects of an ancient culture to best display their art collection.
space
The house focused on creating a multi-functional space from every-day living to hosting several high-end events throughout the year to display their unique collection. This entailed consideration for ADA applications of codes and the ability to age in place. The clientele also wanted a space to host several events a year as a venue to show off their art collection.
impact
I created this project from the ground up taking influences from various historic and modern sources. Working through the overall floor plan to the finalized product for presentation purposes. The project was well received and successful in completing its objective.

interior
The simplistic use of color with luxurious materials in the architectural detailing gives a the space a grandiose sensation; creating a premiere space to display a diverse range of antiquities. The use of color used in each room was used to highlight the collection specific to that room.
