Warehouse redevelopment Docklands, Melbourne, AUS Nov. 18 2013

Following by the emergence of 3d printing and laser cutting / which is called digital manufacturing , the concept of fabrication lab becomes relevant. How can interior architecture can be a platform for this future production method. The site being chosen is a warehouse in Docklands, a main distribution point that represent the mass production and distribution era. The proposal will insert a new program into the existing warehouse which is fabrication lab , creating a dialogue between the existing large scale industrial port and athe proposed space of small scale manufacturing.

CONCEPTS

The proposal is a a new prototype 3 level fablab that is open, reconfigurable dynamic and participatory. The reason behind this design decision comes back to the social context of fab lab. Fab lab concept are connected to the open source movement which means there is open access to information : from tutorials to the actual final design. There is concept of multiple authorship, anyone can download make change to other people work and make their own version of it. With this logic, not only the design is personalized by user but even the actual production tool is personalized.

Can the actual interior of the fablab be prefabricated the same way by the user depend on the function needed. Can user personalize and fabricate their own spatial experience .What if the space is reconfigurable and able to expand over time . The proposal will be in different stages over a timeframe. Based on the existing steel structure of the warehouse ,the space comprised a ‘kit of parts’: pre-fabricated walls, platforms, floors, stairs, and ceiling modules furnitures that could be moved and assembled and reassemble easily with minimum labour work needed.

VISUALIZATION It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like). Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of
