R:COM sets the stage for FleetWatch, advanced fleet management software R:COM provides a virtual wire connection between a Thermo King SMART REEFER® and your office PC. The R:COM System from Thermo King was developed in response to the growing demand for a wireless method of exchanging information between a SMART REEFER, or a vehicle mounted datalogger, and an office location. All that is required is an R:COM vehicle-mounted module, connected to a SMART REEFER or Thermo King datalogger, and a base station receiver mounted on the building and connected to an office PC. When a vehicle arrives in the yard, operating and temperature data is automatically retrieved by the R:COM system and added to the vehicle’s Wintrac® log file on the base station PC. The Wintrac file is updated with any new data stored on the datalogger each time the vehicle returns (or periodically if the unit remains in the yard for a length of time). With the addition of FleetWatch, that data can provide concise, customised reports to make management more efficient.

R:COM System Components R:COM Base Station The R:COM base station unit is mounted on the exterior of the building and is connected via cable to the PC running the R:COM server software.

R:COM Relay Units Up to 7 relays can be installed to form an R:COM radio network. The relays have two functions: • To extend the reach of the network beyond the area directly covered by the base station • To provide multiple network paths to mobile units to improve communication reliability and performance to the network

These units are connected to the dataloggers and may be mounted on vehicles, buildings, etc. The R:COM mobile units provide:

• R:COM with FleetWatch becomes your automatic traffic manager • R:COM downloads automatically…not manually

R:COM works with most Thermo King SMART REEFER controllers:

• R:COM’s network handles multiple locations

Schedule PM's with regularity

R:COM Mobile Units

• Two RS232 serial ports for connection to multiple datalogging devices • An Alert Signal input which can be connected to On/Off sensors such as door switches, or to alarm signal output from other equipment. • A 14 character programmable unit, ID • A vehicle identification tag to indicate what type of vehicle the R:COM unit is attached to • A multi-level security system to control access to the datalogging device(s) attached to the R:COM unit

The R:COM system runs quietly in the background 24 hours a day, requiring no human involvement. In addition to downloading data, R:COM continuously scans the refrigeration units in the yard for any active controller alarms and automatically reports them if detected.

User-friendly software empowers fleet manager with automatic custom reporting.

Peace of mind, at the end of the day.

Your decision to use the R:COM System to assist in that process has made the job easier - data gets collected automatically, while your fleet is in the yard. The ability to see and evaulate that data can provide the crucial details you need to keep your business running... and keep it profitable. Likely, you've come to rely on R:COM's alarm code and alert condition monitoring. Getting all this data was good, but it just got even better... with FleetWatch!

For starters, you won’t have to worry about software compatibility with your R:COM system. The FleetWatch software was designed to overlay seamlessly with that of R:COM. That avoids confusion from the get-go. Once installed, you can begin selecting reports to customise your own reporting system.

With FleetWatch, you can keep things in simple perspective. Identifying the problems and issues at the beginning of the day will give you the best opportunity to stay on top of things until you go home. Of course, R:COM with FleetWatch never sleeps, but provides continual collecting and reporting, which makes your life easier when you arrive the next morning.

Consider the value of your time and the amount of it required to categorise, analyse and report your data into a form that’s useful. Wouldn’t it be nice if that task could be done and waiting for you on your computer 24 hours a day? Well, now it can with Thermo King’s FleetWatch. A hard-working management tool, it does what you don’t have time to do and does it according to your specifications.
