Hotel Pav ĂŠ

The purpose of this design was to redesign the Element Hotel in the Seaport District of Boston, Massachusetts. Within this redesign there will be modular and sustainability features and ADA applications in place.

Concept Cobblestones are seen in many areas of Boston– in walkways and alleys and on streets as stepping-stones for tourists and the everyday people who inhabit this city. To incorporate this into the hotels overall design they will be broken down into their different colors, textures, shapes and sizes. Concept Images

On the Rocks

The design idea for this project was to create a restaurant inside of an already existing site (Hotel Pav ĂŠ) with a cohesive concept which will mold the two spaces together as one.

Concept The concept of riverbeds developed from the concept of my hotel design, which is cobblestones and how they are formed. Through riverbeds, the cobblestone goes through the process of water passing flowing it continuously to smooth and round it while also, creating a natural pathway for water flow in nature. This will be implamented in my restaurant with organic shapes sustainability aspects and wayfinding. Concept Images

Sow and Sprout

The purpose of Design Showdown 2019 was to focus on a social issue within a community and design a space that tailored to the clients needs who would be occupying that space.

Concept The concept for this diner is seeds to show their variety of color and how they can travel from many places and be “sow or planted to grow into something beautiful. Pulling the color scheme of the diner directly from the seeds themselves to show how nature can be vibrant just like the people within it. This diner will be designed with a color pallete that ranges from neutrals to eye catching vivid seed colors to emphasize different seating areas or moments of attention in the space.

Goal and Sustainability Features Our focus at this diner is a Reentry Program for formerly incarcerated people within Boston. Statistics show that more than 27% of the U.S. formerly incarcerated people are turned away from many jobs, Black, Hispanic and especially women.

There is a produce market here with all locally sourced fruits and vegetables for the community to purchase. Also, offering our reusable shopping bags that we encourage customers to bring in any time they shop.

Childs Mobile Luminaire For the theme of this luminaire I chose to celebrate new life and parents welcoming their new born child into the world. Constructing these lights for a nursery room or a day care keeping in mind a childs mobile that can come in many forms this luminaire will have the same options.

Concept The concept behind this luminaire design is baby toys. Taking on these toys in their actual shapes and organizing them into figurations that would be functional as a light fixture in multiple pieces that can be rearranged. So as the child grows out of one phase and into another the fixture is meant to grow with them.

Environmental Shop The purpose of E-Shop Grocery store design in the Newport Bay, RI area was to bring sustainability awareness to the community members and also the tourists who visit. These sustainability aspects are the recycling center, reusable shopping bags and jars and also cups that are sold at the in-store café. Incorporated in this design was new innovative grocery store technologies such as clean-up systems, interactive screens, reusable items and more.

Concept The concept of water droplets for this small scale grocery store is fitting for the space because of the close proximity to the Newport Bay water front. Newport is a large fishing port, both the visitors and residents of the area want to see the water stay fresh and clean.

Northeast Green Building The purpose of this design project was to choose a company and redesign an office space for that company using sustainability features learned over the class studio. Within this project there is air-purification use with the green walls, the implementation of a greywater system to recycling any water that can be used for other purposes and the installation of solar panels to save energy for this company.

Concept This company uses science-- the breaking down of atoms and molecules--to help with most all of their design processes. To assist with the design of the office incorporating natural figures and shapes to make the space flow smoothly. Incorporating the thought of science broken down into atoms and molecules will help to shape the companies overall design. With rounded out walls furniture and objects.
