CAREER DAY

Serena is a 3-month-old female gray tabby. She’s fixed and up to date on her vaccines. If you would like to make Serena a part of your family, or to learn more about other pets available for adoption, give the Upper Keys Humane Society (UKHS) a call at 305-451-3848. UKHS provides food, shelter, medical care and adoption services for unwanted and abandoned animals.

Save The Date

Reef is a red fox that was saved from a fur farm. He now lives in Key Largo with his human, Nicole

The Everglades Outpost is a sanctuary for animals that have been confiscated from illegal, traumatic and abusive situations. Sanctuaries often work together to get animals where they need to go, and to the best homes possible. My mom told me she held the baby gator, and it was her first time holding one. It looks pretty darn cute, if you ask me. I mean, cute from a distance. I do not need a gator in my enclosure. My foxy instincts tell me it probably wouldn’t work out very well.

The hedgehog and the gator are all settled in down at the Sheriff’s Farm. Did you know you can visit the farm in person as they are open to the public every second and fourth Sunday of the month? I would highly recommend visiting if you never have.

Events around town: On Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m., the Florida Keys Community Concert Band’s Pops In The Park is having a concert that is all about animals. How cool is that? This will take place at Founders Park in Islamorada and you can bring your pet for the parade. I also hear there will be prizes and dogs that are available for adoption. Make sure you bring a blanket or lawn chair.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, Florida Keys Brewing Company is having its 8-year anniversary party from noon to 10 p.m. Join the fun at the tasting room and beer garden for live music, food trucks, face painting, art vendors and special release of local beer. This is a free, family-friendly event and all are welcome, even well-behaved pets on leash. Live music will start at 1 p.m., food trucks will be open from noon to 8 p.m. and face painting will be available from 1 to 6 p.m.

Anywho, that’s all for this week. Keep up with all things fox on our website, pawsitivebeginnings.org. Until next time, Reef, over and out!
